It's a site that tracks your video game backlog.

It's an arbitrary requirement anyway. Good/bad doesn't enter into it.

OK, I have a backlog-clearing question for you good folks. Right now I'm clearing a couple series, so I have a pattern on the go. I'm finishing up the Mega Man VC games and Final Fantasy portables I have, then I'm moving on to the Shining Force series. After that, I want to go through my backlog in a systematic way, but I need some advice.

The way I see it, I have three options for how to approach the backlog:

1. Trust the fortune cookie.
2. Play through each open game (i.e. a game I've already started or at least opened) in alphabetical order from the top of the whole list.
3. Play through each game in order, system by system.

Thoughts?

I think a mixture of 2 and 3: Play each open game in alphabetical order, but with systems in alphabetical order as well (ie. you would play DreamCast before NES). I hope this helps

Don't follow a pattern. I've tried at least 10 different ways to beat my games in the past, and they all didn't last long. Just play whatever you feel like.

That will mostly be games I've already beat.

When I want to start a new game (usually when I've finished one I've been working on, but occassionally in the middle of another), I go through my list of "Unfinished" or "Null" games--or browse my physical collection--for a game from a genre I really feel like playing at that time. It's not a very concrete system, but I'm more likely to finish a game chosen on interest than one chosen at random.

@pdRydia: I just noticed that you own the Phoenix Wright trilogy + Apollo Justice, but they are all untouched! You should really get to those games soon. They are probably the best DS games ATM.

I never play games of the same series consecutively because you can get fed up with it. Good to mix things up a bit.

What I've recently started to do is try the 'fortune cookie' for all unplayed games, except for if it brings up a game I don't feel like playing then I just keep trying until it comes up with something I want. Kind of cheating but there's no point in playing a game you don't feel like at the time, but the fortune cookie is useful at bringing up some games you forgot about.

I haven't posted my Backloggery on here. When I'm more satisfied with the number of games I've finished then I'll post it, until then I don't want the extra pressure of everyone seeing what I haven't finished. Right now I'm playing Yakuza 2 and Viewtiful Joe, two games I half played when I got them and never finished, both suggested by the fortune cookie.

Heh, I'm actually using the Backloggery more for adding new unfinished games than for completing games. I do complete games on a nice regular basis, but I always make sure to acquire them more rapidly than I finish them.

Yea when ever i use the fortune cookie i always get a game that i dont wanna play. I just pick out of the unfinished ones that i want to play it works better than playin a game that i dont want to play at the moment.

Jogurt, I'd say to start with the fortune cookie. Another option may be to go system by system and clear your games that way. The alphabetical list would also work very well. Personally I'd go with the fortune cooke because it'll keep your gaming the freshest.

The only reason I don't really like the system-by-system approach is because it means I'd be playing, for example, a whole lot of NES games in a row, and then when they're done I wouldn't use the NES for a long time.

So I may start with the fortune cookie, and keep refreshing until I make sure I get an open game, and then when the open games are done I'll decide what to do from there.

I have created an account on the website. My name on their is "Marktheshark". I have to add a lot of games to the backloggery so don't be surprised if my backloggery looks a bit empty for the time being.
