It's an annual tradition! We can still tally up our totals for 2011 from the other thread, but it's 2012 and it's time for a new one! What games have you beat this year? What games are you working on?

It's a few hours from 2012 for me right now, but some Aussies might want to get a head start on us by ringing in the new year with a freshly beat game!

Well looks like the guy who bailed out of this thread last year is going to start us off. I'll hopefully be better at keeping a log than last year.

BEAT:
1/1 - Sonic CD

I can finally check this one off my Gaming List. I've been meaning to play it for some time and finally got around to it. Fantastic game but it loses a lot of it's speed in the 2nd to last boss and final zone. Every issue with the Sonic series is brought to the forefront in that zone. Other than that there were some fantastic boss battles including using a treadmill to wear down a robot and Robotnik changes things up by using those (always missing when you need them) bubbles as his own personal shield. This version of the game also includes both the NA and JP soundtracks, both of which are fantastic and deserve a listen. Great game and a great start to my 2012!

Started and finished Strong Bad 3 tonight in 5h35m (Played a bit more in Extended Game as well). Still a few things left for completion.

Was the best episode so far - personally (cool theme and funny humour) and technically (no serious glitches and no freezing at all).

22/01/2012 - Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)

Yay! It's done. I did enjoy it and some things were really well done but it wasn't the best for me. Hero mode is a strange one. It makes reference to the fact that you've already beaten the game yet still forces you to do tutorial tasks and clutters the screen with the controller map.

I think I prefer Twilight Princess despite its faults as it had more variety of locations and I preferred Midna's sarky commentary to the awful Fi. She was a weird backward step although not as annoying as Navi.

Majora's Mask is still my favourite though.

Last save is 95%. You can't save after the ending so 95% is the highest you can get I think.
(Just like Starfox Adventures where 99% was the highest you can have on your save file.)

Beat it finally. Glad it's over.
I didn't like it for the story and new characters, but it's still a good game (not as good as the first one though). If I was ten years younger this would have been great. But it has too much the charm of a japanese teenie fantasy RPG for my tastes. Only redeeming point is some of the music and Lloyd, the hero from the first game.
