| As you all know we are all fed up wit big commercializing sports games such as the ones from EA, 2K sports (and further on) these days. Still these games had a big history for getting as far as they are now, most of these games werent even that big commercialized than they are these days and ofcourse there are the good and bad sides about it. Everyone has its own taste and memories to these games, thats why its good to share thoughts with others about it, because sports games can be just as enjoyable in their own forms as other gamegenres Cant wait to hear some more good titles and maybe I or other people would even remember playing them. Have fun ! Here is my list of most memorable and some most favorite sports games: (Dont get to bored to the list, you know Europe and soccer are like twins GOAL ! (Nes) JALECO Genre: Soccer 'Played this game a lot in my childhood and couldnt wait for the celebrations after scoring, I also liked it more than the original soccer game from Nintendo, though it was kind of glitchy.' Blades of Steel (Nes) Konami Genre: Ice Hockey 'Very solid Ice Hockey game and to be honest the only ice hockey game I like, even compared to the 3d ones.' International Superstar Soccer Deluxe (Snes) Konami Genre: Soccer 'First soccergame from Konami that inspired me a lot because it had some extra twist to the other 2d soccer games, shame about the licences which Konami still doesnt have 100%'' NBA JAM (Sega Megadrive/Gen)Midway Acclaim Genre: Basketbal 'OMG hes on Fire ! !One of the best and most hilarious sports games ever made imo. Played it a lot and enjoyed the insane dunks till the end of the last quarter' FiFa 96 (Sega Megadrive/Gen) EA Sports: Genre: Soccer 'Maybe my most played sports game in my childhood and imo the best of Fifa in its old jacket' Also this FiFa wasnt supported by licensed music, rather it had one of the best own home made music in the history of sports games.' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Os0Wd...eature=related Super Monaco GP (Sega Megadrive/Gen) SEGA Genre: Racing 'This game had it all as for racing: good difficulty, growing oppertunities and throwing yourself to the best team there was. Nice gem.' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uxkc...ext=1&index=25 FiFa 98 Road to The WC (N64) EA Sports Genre: Soccer 'I played many new 3d Fifas after this one but this one is still my most favorite of all (yes even FiFa 2010 doesnt shake my head in a positive way), This also was the last FiFa I realy loved playing.' PES 2 aka Winning Eleven 6 - Konami (PS2) Konami Genre: Soccer 'The succesor of International Superstar Soccer and best soccer game (series) till PES 5 ever made as in whole, I chose for 2 because this one was imo the most memorable one and not to forget the best Intro http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OEe5eTspMU

| Do you like my helmet? | NHL 94 (Genesis/SNES) is the one that really stands out in my mind. I played hours and hours of that game against my friends. It was only a matter of time before we learned the "trick" to scoring (each NHL game seems to have one—in this one, it was cutting in front of the net from off one of the wings). |

| UNSURE OF... the exact nature of the thread BUT I'm gonna go with my favourite Sports games *evar*... heh Personally, I'm not into sports games as such, but there are a few that I have enjoyed over the years. Due to time constraints and the such, I shalln't go in-depth, so I hope you have enough gaming knowledge to understand my angle here In NO particular order at all... Athlete Kings/Decathlete (SAT/ARC) Winter Heat (SAT) Track & Field (PS1) Virtua Tennis 1 & 2 (DC/ARC) Virtua Athlete (DC) Best of the Best: Kickboxing (SNES) Yeah, that just about wraps it up. All great games though... perhaps not your usual sports game selections - as theyre more 'games' if you know what I mean?! |

| Kinda unrelated but I felt this wasn't deserving of a new topic.... What's the most fun to play soccer game of this generation? (Wii, 360) From reviews, it seems like either the newest Pro Evo for Wii or the newest Fifa for 360. Any opinions from the vc-forums people? |

| Do you like my helmet? | Fifa 11! What's all this about boo EA Sports...? Here are some more of my fave sports games: EA SPORTS: NHLPA Hockey '93 (Gen/SNES) — Classic old hockey game with real player names. Set the bar really high for my fave the following year. EA SPORTS: NHL 96 (Gen/SNES) — Tweaked the creepy new graphical style set in NHL 95 and added a lot of new features without really borking the controls, etc. EA SPORTS: NHL 99 (PC) — I played this one on PC and part of the reason I enjoyed it was filling the game up with 1. created characters, and 2. custom background music. EA SPORTS: NHL 10 (PS3) — A nice revival for this series, with tons of modes that give you completely different ways of playing the game. You also have a lot of freedom to create, tweak, and develop players and teams. I haven't fooled around much with the online modes, but they sound fine. Will be interested to see what they bring to the table in the next game. It's interesting that Patrick Kane was placed on the cover of NHL 10, and at the end of the season he scored the game-winning OT goal to win his team the Cup... |

| Sumo Brother | I'm not into sports games so i can't say much but what i can say is Wii Sports Resort. While some of you may dismiss it as just a mere tech demo but what it really is its a fully fleashed out game. A nice minigame complation with heaps of challenges & it makes a nice use of the Wii Motion Plus. |

| Perhaps something to do with their horrendous track record of godawful FIFA titles which got off to a bad start with the very first entry where they thought it would be more fun to name all the (all white) players after their programmers and family members rather than actually utilising the licence they had! I think nearly everyone from back then has unhappy childhood memories of 'Brian Plank' scoring the winning goal against them for Germany! Only recently have the FIFA team bothered to get their act together to compete with Konami and stop lazily relying on a license (to print money).

| Do you like my helmet? | FIFA schmifa. I'm looking to get into a soccer/football game sometime, and I figured I might start with the latest World Cup title (South Africa), though FIFA 11 is coming out soon... still, I think I'd rather play as all the national teams. I just hope there are lots of vuvuzela options. |

| Jet Set Radio Future, by far. It's a gorgeous game, and one of the best out there. I haven't played the original, unfortunately Punch Out!! would be one, if it counts. I don't like it as much as some (Spore), but I still think it's a good game. And finally, Baseball Stars 2, which is a fantastically over the top game that is just fun to play. Probably the only few sports games that I can stomach, the rest are way too meh for me (and by that, I mean I could care less, not that they suck)... |
