I imagine the site earns a (very) small amount of money for the referral that helps cover its upkeep. We should all do this really as it costs nothing (unlike maintaiting a forum).

Referral kickbacks. I imagine we'll have an Amazon link for the forum before too long, too.

Just added an Amazon (UK) link. I'll try and get an Amazon (US) and Amazon (Canada) link on there as well. Thanks!

I am about to make a purchase from Amazon, but I have until September 15th to redeem this coupon I have. So I don't mind to help out when you do get the Amazon (US) link up.

Hm, but what about play-asia then? People can earn money themselves through their affiliation links there. Wouldn't this nullify that?

Btw, is there any solution to do this through play-asia aswell?

Good idea, I'll use the links definitely.

Suggestion: perhaps put the links somewhere obvious as well like at the bottom of the main page. It wouldn't be too distracting and might get more hits.

Not nullify, no. I'm not going to remove other people's links (providing keeping within the rules, of course. So people always have the choice.

I can certainly look into adding Play Asia to the list.

Sound like a good idea. This thread sound be okay for the time being though, it is sticky, so people will always know where to find it.

Only one referral counts, to my knowledge, but I don't know which one (the one you clicked first, the one you clicked most recently, etc.)

I order a lot through Play-Asia, and I usually use CheapyD's referral link, but I'd be happy to use this forum's when I'm not ganking coupon codes from CAG.

I second this. Do you have the option to make a thread a universal sticky (shows up in all forums)? Might be worthwhile to do with the forum FAQ and this thread (or a combination of the threads). Alternately, maybe stick some links under the Quick Links menu at the top of the forum.

Play-Asia.com link added!

I can certainly post an announcement referring back to this thread, and indeed for the rules thread. Great suggestions people.

Dang, if you had put up the Amazon referral yesterday, you could have gotten my Wii Sports Resort purchase on there. Oh well, I'll try to remember this next time I do an online purchase.

I helped VC-F with MS Points!! Though I doubt whatever money you'll get from that $20 purchase will offset my dickery and foul mouth.

I just made a purchase with Amazon (US).

I hope the affiliate link works. There was no way for me to tell if it did or not, especially since I never used referral links before.

If you get a Canadian Amazon link up soonish (within the next week or so), I'll be making a big purchase for the upcoming school term.

I bought Wii Sports Resort, since Amazon sent me a $10.00 off coupon toward it. Thus final price for it is $33.99. Can't beat that.

Great stuff! Hope you enjoy it.

I got Wii Sports Resort recently... love it, especially the swordsplay stuff. I need to get myself a whole bunch of Wii MotionPlus now. Shame you only get one with it.

Also, just checked - Wii Sports Resort has definitely gone through via the affiliate link.

You of all people should be posting in the Master List threads to keep your collections up to date!

Unhappy

I so wish I knew about this yesterday! I just bought a ton of books for college from Amazon. Oh well, I will follow the links next time I order anything. Scout's honor. Not that the Scout's would ever take me of course, but we'll save that story for another thread...

DivineOmega, any chance you could post something a little bit more noticeable on the main page? And since you're the only one paying for this site, are you the only mod? (I could've sworn Jogurt (might've) been a mod)

It should do, yes. It only really gets confirmed after the item has been dispatched though (because obviously, peeps could cancel their orders).

I know. I really need to get *all* my games or all platforms and slap them in the relevant threads!

Aye. I'll definitely be making this thread more prominent shortly.

I'm not the only moderator, not by any means. You can see a list of the entire moderation team at http://www.vc-forums.com/forumleaders.html. I am the only full administrator - i.e. can make major changes to the layout and fundamental operation of the board.

Oh yes that makes since now-- I mistakingly thought "moderator" and "full administrator" were interchangeable. How does one become a mod on this site? You seem to have an elite force across the world lol.

Do you get referral money if we buy from 3rd party sellers on Amazon? I just bought a couple used textbooks from there.

Does just clicking the link help? Or do you really have to buy something? Either way, I clicked each one once.
