Default What games have you almost downloaded?

Games that you are on the fence about.

For me...

F-Zero X - I already downloade F-Zero, and I know if I downloaded this game I would never play the original again. X completely makes the original obsolete. I wish I would have waited for F-Zero X in the first place. It's probably the way I am going to feel when they release Super Mario All-stars.

Landstalker -never heard of it, but it looks really cool.

Shining Force 1 and 2 - the thing is, I already downloaded Breath of Fire 2. I think I'll hold off on these until I beat it.

Ice Hockey - I could....but I should probably wait for Blades of Steel.

Beyond Oasis - I don't care if it's a Zelda clone...that's not a bad thing, especially because I consider A Link to the Past to be the best Zelda game ever. I will probably be downloading this soon.

Yoshi's Story - the VC review put me off at first but the
polarised opinions and the fact that it has remained in
the "popular titles" since release makes me think it might
not be THAT bad...

Wonder Boy in Monster World - I really don't know if I would like it or not. Same with Dragon's Curse. How works the password system? And now that The Dynastic Hero is coming I really don't know what to get.

Neutopia - People saying it's good, but seeing this as a Zelda clone when I have every Zelda game, I really don't need it. Or do I? Same with Neutopia II.

Shining Force - Love those games, but with Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn for Wii at the door, I can skip it this time I think.

Kirby's Dream Course - It's a very different game and I couldn't get into it when I played this for a short time long ago. I'm still interested in this game and I think I'm gonna get it in the next few months.

Landstalker / The Story of Thor (Beyond Oasis) - Which one is better? Is there anything really special about these games? Some original innovation whatsoever?

Crack Down - If it's anything like Gain Ground, I'm gonna get it. How many levels has this? I know absolutely nothing about this one. A game I would like to test beforehand.

Mach Rider - How's the editor?

Vegas Stakes - Apart from the 5 casino games.. I heard there are some cool things in this game. What kind of things?? And how can you play 3 player games?

SKTTR:

Wonder Boy: Get Dragon's Curse first, then get Wonder Boy in Monster World or The Dynastic Hero if you like it. Monster World if you like similar music to Dragon's Curse, Dynastic Hero if you like orchestrated songs. All of them are like Zelda II's sidescrolling sections, except better.

Neutopia: I like it more than the original Legend of Zelda, but I've never been a huge fan of the first LoZ anyway, so opinions might differ. Overworld is less annoying and most secrets are obvious instead of having to burn/bomb random bushes/walls. There's also less near useless items and some new ones.

Shining Force: It's basically like Fire Emblem, except that you need to worry less: Weapons don't break and dead characters can be revived. Also, if your main character dies, you restart the battle with all XP you just gained, which means the more you fail the easier it gets (You can either like or hate that!).

Kirby's Dream Course: Pretty much a golf game with Kirby elements, making it very unique.

Landstalker: I can't stop the praise on this one. It's one of the first isometric RPGs ever, it's got a very nice difficulty curve (Not too easy, not too hard, but there are some exceptional moments that are a bit hard), it's not at all like Zelda (I would compare it more to something like Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia or Terranigma) and it's just good fun, really. Loads of sidequests and stuff to collect as well.

Crack Down: Yup, it plays similar to Gain Ground (And Gauntlet), except of course there's only one character to play as. If you like Gain Ground (And I know you do) then you'll like this game too.

Mach Rider: I'm ashamed to say I've still never played this game. I'll have to do so soon.

Vegas Stakes: Never played the multiplayer myself, but I'm pretty sure it's in turns (If that's what you mean? If you mean how is 3-player on the SNES possible, then the answer is with the Multitap). Stuff that happens is explained in my review.

Has anybody more than 15 years old posted a positive oppinion on this game?

About Wonder Boy in Monster World, I personally got it before WB3/Dragon's Curse back in the day, and it didn't feel outdated in the least. Both are great episodes of the series with their own twists, whether you've finished one or the other first. About which version to get, I'd recommend the original versions (WBinMW rather than Dynastic Hero, and Wonder Boy III The Dragon's Trap instead of Dragon's Curse), but SMS isn't yet supported. =\

Now Wonderboy is the original series? And Dragon's Curse and The Dynastic Hero is originally Wonder Boy III and Wonder Boy IV.

I suppose WB3 and WB4 are connected because it's a series?
Are Dragon's Curse and The Dynastic Hero connected in the same way?

And is WB1 and WB2 just the other way around, clones of Adventure Island?!? Sorry, but I'm very confused with the series..

I want to complete the whole Wonder Boy series and have some questions.
Wonder Boy 1-3 where released on Master System?
And 4 on Mega Drive?
I'm confident in seeing the Master System on VC one day, so I go the ICEknight's way.

@Drake.

You make Shining Force and Landstalker tasty, yeah
I will not forget about them.

And Crack Down sounds cool to me. Reminding this for bad times.
And well, about Vegas Stakes, the question was how multiplayer works on Wii.

Come on, and with the next Wii Points we gettin Mach Rider. Just tryin who is better! A little contest in an unknown Nintendo game. I'm getting this just for fun.

*raises hand*

It has really colorful and unique graphics. The gameplay is there. The diffiuclty is there, especially if you are trying to just find melons. Overall its agreat game if you don't mind how ridiculously cute it is.

Yes, Wonder Boy was the original series. Basically, the first Adventure Island is to Wonder Boy 1 what Dynastic Hero is to Wonder Boy in Monster World.

Also, Dynastic Hero is based on Wonder Boy V. There's no such thing as Wonder Boy IV, but rather, there's two different Wonder Boy III's (The Dragon's Trap and Monster Lair)...

Sort of. There's the whole stuff about the Legendary Weapons going on, and the main characters look quite similar. Also, Wonder Boy V includes some nods to previous chapters, such as Wonder Boy 1's boss cameo, the sphinx appearing, the Charmstones or having a similar theme for the last level.

I think those are just treated as unrelated games to each other, from what I've read. Some references to the Wonder Boy games might have been removed altogether, as well.

Wonder Boy 1 to 3 were indeed released for the SMS. The MegaDrive got a less-than-faithful port from the arcade Wonder Boy III (inferior than the Turbo CD port, it seems), Wonder Boy V (in Monster World), and one last Japan-only chapter (starring the only female hero in the series).

There's some more interesting info about the series, including the many different localized version, at this site.

A mix of Wii remotes and GameCube controllers, or just 3 of each will do, just like every other multiplayer game. Poker's not available in multiplayer so you can't look at each other's cards.
