Galaga '88?

Any chance of seeing this one released on the EU Virtual Console. After playing Galaga for the first time on the NES VC download (and loving it), I'd love to try out this follow-up.

Was it ever released in the West originally?

Galaga is the one where you can get a double fighter by letting your ship get captured and destroying the capter to get the extra. Galaxian is Galaga's prequel sorta. Really slow shooting and crappy game all around. The fighters are already assembled on the screen when the level starts in Galaxian. In Galaga, they come onto the screen in teams and some attack you. Galaga's MUCH better.

I think it's updated with different enemy patterns and such. I think it was Galaga 2. Unless I am thinking about Gaplus.

Just a heads up: Galaga '90 has been rated by the OFLC now, so it is coming (It was released in NA in 1990 and JP in 1988, that explains the change of title).

Galaga '90 was simply a western version of Galaga '88. Why it took two years to cross the Pacific we'll never know...
