I got it last month and have beaten it a few days ago.. and I think it's a very good game.
About the game. You play as Tingle on 11 great designed and fun islands, your main objective is to collect enough Rupees to get into the wonderful Rupeeland Paradise where you have girls, money and all you need. You can also collect various other stuff: A shovel, a bone ocarina, empty bottles, food, treasures, weapons, recipes and much more. You have your own house and there's a city with many different people, all with their own jobs and problems. there's a restaurant, a merchant, a map seller, a wishing well, kids and your actions and playground grows and evolves as you progress. You have to talk to the people and negotiate prices about many various things. This is one of the big innovative things about this game: bargaining. If you come across such a situation you see the face of the one you deal with. You have to be careful, not to bet too high, but sometimes you really want to not get out below your price. Another new kind of thing: There are 30 bodyguards you can hire, they have their own specials and intelligence, and they are fun and very helpful. This game is packed to the edge with puzzles, adventuring, RPG elements, collecting, action, talking, secrets. This is one of these games where you really see love in detail. There are 5 big dungeons, ever heard about death mountain and deku tree? Yes, some hilarious Zelda guest appearances as well. The main games 2D graphics are pretty and colorful, and sometimes the game turns 3D showing some amazing boss fights. There are some vivid musical scores too. The city theme is my favourite. As I'm looking through my collection, no other game I bought this year can match up with Tingle's new adventure. My personal rating: 9.3/10 - The only complaint I have is missing multiplayer/online functions. Now Phantom Hourglass will have a really hard time to keep up with Tingle's excellent debut. Who else owns this game? I have some spoiler questions about the last few things I don't know. Last edited by SKTTR; 25th October 2007 at 05:34 AM. |

I don't have it but I am thinking about it. I have heard the combat in it is terrible though, what did you think of it?

The combat is easy but with a few twists, that make it deep enough.
If you walk with Tingle into an enemy (or the enemy walks into you) the brawl begins: You and the enemy are in a cloud of dust brawling like in, you know, Tom & Jerry or Bugs Bunny cartoons. Anyway.. You can move the cloud around to get more enemies involved or to avoid them, if they're too strong and too much. So there's some strategy how to fight. The more enemies you fight, the better and more items you get. You can also touch (trigger) the screen as fast as you can, to kill the enemy faster and get better items. Then there are 30 different bodyguards you can hire. They have different intelligence, power and special attacks. Some wouldn't fight at all (you need to push them into some monster or get them involved in your battle cloud) Others fight everything that's coming close. Smarter bodyguards only come to help if you start a fight. You can even touch them and show them where to go/fight. You can also throw various bombs, sleeping gases or perfumes to attract enemies, giving the battle more depth and yourself more profit. Then there are enemies that you can't battle straight away. You need to let them run against a wall so they're confused, for example. Another example are fire enemies. You have throw a bottle of water on them before they can be fought. To come to an end, the boss battles are entirely different. Some are Zelda like, some are shmup like, some are minigame like. I liked them. I think the overall combat system is unique and fun. And there are still some rare items I can't get because I haven't got the right battle approach strategy. This is one of the reasons why I would like to talk to other people who played this game. For example there's a feather item, which I have only 1 from. There's a place where you have to attract as many enemies as you can with a strong perfume you have to cook beforehand, plus having a strong enough bodyguard at your side. Tingle must die a terrible, terrible death. The character is ugly, he has stupid dialogue, and his appearance doesn't make any sense (35 and he's not full grown? He's not even the size dwarves/midgits should be at his age, so I have no idea WHAT he is).
I'm glad Nintendo was shamed out of excluding him from Twilight Princess. He's one of the reasons I wont touch The Wind Waker.

There's nothing to "get" about a little person who's ugly as hell, flies around with a balloon and sells maps. SNORE.
Oh, I forgot, and talks like a goon. "Tingle-Tingle, Kooloo-Limpah! These are magic words I invented myself. Don't steal them!" Wow. I'm mesmerized. Tingle-Tingle Kooloo-Limpah, huh? Don't worry Tingle, I have no intention of stealing magic words that produce magic nothing. I swear, the character is useless.

Right!
He's useless. He's just a little imbecile ignorant. He's 35, ugly and squint-eyed. He's dreaming of money. Women. Lots of food. Doing nothing and just hanging round. He's naive and stupid. He's misunderstood. He's flying around with a balloon. And that's his signature. Sounds really American-ish to me (except the flying around with a balloon). I don't know for sure why I bought Tingle. Because it has this shiny golden boxart? No, boxart really doesn't matter to me. Because it was more fun than Twilight Princess?! No, I couldn't know beforehand. And anyway, it's a matter of tastes. Because it's got Tingle in it? YES! Yeah, Tingle is cool! I loved him in Majora's Mask, Wind Waker and his other incarnations in Four Sword Adventures and the handheld games. He's just hilarious and stupid and that makes him fun. A shame there's no Koolo-Limpah in Rosy Rupeeland but anyway, I play this game everyday since launch.
