Streets of Rage by many miles. The second game in the series is the best. Download it now!

They're both great games, but Streets of Rage 2 is definitely much much better!

In this case SoR2. Now if you said FF3 instead of FF, then it would be FF3.

FF. Better action IMO and it really feels that you beat someone up.
also when FF2 and especialy FF3 will be released than noone will cry for SoR ever again. FF3 is the best brawler ever...no matter what console or arcade machine |

Final Fight is an amazing game. But the SNES version... Not so much. Less levels and characters, and even less players.
Get SOR 2. If the arcade version had hit, then i'd have downloaded it ASAP and I think i'd say FF over SOR 2. Not sure, i'm constantly debating with myself over which is better.

It was unbalanced, tediously designed at the end of the SNES's life as an unashamed marketing ploy, and some of the enemy sprites seemed to be direct palette swaps of Guy! The controls are sluggish and the two new characters simply tried to disguise the weakness of their move design with speed. I'll grant you the new moves were welcome, but they were simply transplants of ideas better realised in Capcom's arcade beat-em-ups like Dungeons and Dragons and Alien Vs. Predator. It was nowhere near as good as Streets of Rage 2, or even the arcade version of Final Fight, which in the opinion of yours truly is the best in that series. Now, having said that, I usually agree with the stuff you say. Thus, I'm going to hunt down a ROM of FF3 and give it a shot tonight to see if my opinions change. As it stands, at the moment, my ranking would say FF(Arcade)>SOR2>FF(SNES). And my favourite beat-em-up has to be the original Guardian Heroes for the Saturn. Now THAT was a game. EDIT: I stand corrected. It's not nearly as bad as I remember it and I've actually had lots of fun. It's probably still at bit on the easy side and I'm not convinced by the new characters, so not quite up there with SOR2 and the original FF, but it's a lovely find nevertheless. |
