As for me, I do love me some anime, but I'll talk about normal TV shows here since there is already an anime thread.
For me its all about South Park! And Futurama is great.
And I love Heroes and House (Hugh Laurie rocks).
But my personal favorite has got to be...

THE VENTURE BROTHERS!!!

I forgot to mention, I am also addicted to Project Runway.
I'm not even into fashion, but I'm really into that show!

It will change but I love US dramas like Twin Peaks, American Gothic and Firefly. All of which have been cancelled.

Now I've got into Dexter and Lost. Heroes is ok but the second season was a little shaky.

the second season of Heroes was very shaky...and the third season doesn't seem to be making things any better (much worse actualy).
But I do love me some Heroes season one, so I'm holding out hope tht it starts improving.

And I liked Lost at first...but it lost me during season two, and nows its gotten way to far along for me to start watching again.

Don't give up on Lost. Season 2 is a bit wonky but by Season 3 it feels like its heading somewhere rather than being made up as it goes along. The last season was immense and for me didn't have a single duff episode.

Thats what I've heard, but I feel so far behind that I'm not sure If I'll ever catch up...
I may rent it someday and just have a big Lost Marathon to catch up.

How was Twin Peaks by the way? It sounded cool, but got cancelled before I ever got a chance to watch it.

Favourite TV show ever: HBO's Rome. 2 seasons. 22 episodes. Every single character is superbly acted. Awesome, awesome political / character drama. Awesome.

Favourite comedy show right now: Flight of the Conchords. I can't get enough of these guys. Hilarious and intelligently crafted songs. Only one season so far, but apparently more is on the way.

Top Gear I think, nothing on TV entertains me like it.

As favorite movie...dunno, I haven't seen that many.

its the HipHopaPotamus vs the Rhymenoceruas!!!

I love Flight of the Conchords immensely. Only reason I didn't list them is because they currently aren't on the air...

I don't actually have HBO, so I have to go to the DVD...which sucks because that means I have to wait even longer for season 2

Twin Peaks is great and readily available as DVD box sets. The first season is short and almost perfect.

The second season suffers but still has some moments of greatness and the last 7 minutes of the last episode redeem the whole thing.

It's a mixture of soap, dark comedy, drama and the supernatural. It has some fine characters (Agent Cooper! Bob!) and excellent performances from Kyle MacLauchlan (?) and Ray Wise. From what I've seen of your likes you should enjoy it.

You really can't call Futurama a spin off just because Matt Groening worked on both of them. They are completely different.

Futurama is definately one of my better shows though. Venture Bros. is incredible too though I have to keep up with it a bit more. I really, really love the US version of The Office. Just awesome.

As a few of you have mentioned, Venture Bros is an awesome show. Aside from that I'm not a big TV watcher. The only other show I watch regularly is Saved by the Bell whenever it's on (and in the US, when is it not?)...

Sienfield and Futurama.

Man the Futurama movie was pretty funny, it had a lot of references from the episodes.

Have you seen the 2nd Futurama movie yet? The Beast With a Billion Backs?

I've been meaning to pick it up, as I too love Futurama.
I even have a wind up tin Bender and a set of Futurama magnets.

Yes! I'm a nerd!

It wasn't quite as good as the first movie and consequently also not in the same league as the television show. Still pretty good though. I am looking forward to the next movie though. I think it is called "Bender's Game" though it doesn't have anything to do with Ender's Game, it is just parodying the title.

WOW im so glad i saw this tread. I have so much to say lol.

@720Bomber: Simpsons FTW. Thats probably my favorite show ever. The movie was great as well. Not much can be said about this show, it is pretty much legendary. And to people that dont like them after a certian season. Well there were people that said some eps in season 7-10 sucked too but i watch them now on DvD and ya know what, season 10 is one of the best seasons ever. Sometimes you just gatta let new eps grow on ya. I own all 10 seaons on DvD and non of them are a letdown as of yet. I will keep getting every season and i doubt i will be let down much, if at all. BTW i dont watch them live anymore because i dont watch TV much anymore lol.

@Kanti3000: Hero's is my favorite show atm. Season 2 was a bit shaky i agree but dont forget if not for the writer's strike it would have been 24 eps instead of 11, or how ever many it was. It was definitly rushed to the ending.I totally disagree on season 3. IM a huge comic book fan and season 3 is a comic come to life. I love the twists and turns and they keep me on the edge of my seat. They have really shaken things up. I dont wanna post any spoilers but just wanna say season 3 is by far better than season 1 so far INHO only.

@Jogurt the Yogurt: OMFG ROME was an awesome series. VERY VERY VERY underratted and under appreciated ( Im sorry i cant spell but thats the word i had to use ). The acting was superb and the lack of the big special effect battles only served to keep the great acting in the forefront. I cannot say enough good things about ROME.

Also Flight of the Conchords is a great show. "You could be a part time model, but you'd probaly have to keep your normal job". I also own season 1 and i dont have HBO but i am ganna be signing up for netfix's soon so. These guys are incedibly talented and really think outside the box, and that gives them a very fresh feal. Watch some of there stuff on Youtube. I have seen some of there very funny live stuff on there.

also

The Office: This show has me in tears everytime i watch it. I tried watching the British one but after the American one it just didnt have the same pop the American one did.

Malcom in the Middle: Awesome show
Married with Children: put fox on the map, at least for me
Breaking Bad: May have been canceled not sure lol but i loved it
The Sapranos: first few seasons were awesome plus i live in NJ haha.
Man vs Nature: Kewl survival show
Survivor Man: see ^
Survivor: lol
Cosmos: Caral Sagan FTW
Family Guy

Wanna go old school?

The Smurfs
Knight Rider
The A-Team
He-Man
The Incrediable Hulk

We have a top 10 favorite move thing on this site so i wont do movies.

Im sure there are more but cant think of anymore atm so there ya go.

dude honestly I'm starting to hate season 3 of Heroes. So many plot holes and discrepancies. Not to mention they made one of my favorite characters an idiot, uselessly re-introduced and then killed off another, and totally forgot about another.
Oh and they totally ripped off the fly too.

I think I may be done with Heroes for good...

In other news I've recently begun watching Madmen, and I gotta say I'm really really digging it.

Not an avid TV watcher, but a friend let me borrow his DVDs of The Wire, and I instantly became addicted to that show. I can easily say it is my favorite.

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd give it a bump instead of making an entirely new one.

My favorite TV show is definitely The Office (US version). The show has me splitting my sides just about every time I watch it. Particularly anything involving Toby.

As for my favorite movie, I'm not exactly sure what it is. I suppose it's a toss-up between Pulp Fiction, Seven Samurai, The Dark Knight and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

I really enjoyed Dexter and it's quite different and in many ways better than its source material.

I love Lost to pieces and am really enjoying the new season and looking forward to revisiting old episodes for those great "oh so that's what was that was about" moments.

A new one for me is Weeds. My wife rented it and I'm hooked. It's really, really funny without getting too silly and the characters are great.

For those of you who like supernatural drama / comedies I'd recommend my new favourite UK show Being Human. It is a fantastic show with some great ideas and fantastic performances. Watch it on iPlayer!

Yeah, Dexter is awesome. It's such an incredibly risky premise for a show, but they totally pull it off. Michael C. Hall is so good in that role. I'm dying waiting for season 3 to be released on DVD.

Lately I've been watching The Wire, and it's absolutely fantastic if you like deep, super-gritty police dramas. I'm about halfway through the third season. I'd heard people say the show was akin a great novel, but I didn't believe it. It really is, though. I love how each season explores a new piece of the city as they try to take down this huge, entrenched drug ring: the first season is mostly about the dealers on the street, in the projects; the second is about the docks, where the contraband gets into the city; the third focuses on the politics. But it all feels whole.

Battlestar Galactica's wrapping up, and it isn't quite as exciting as it was in the beginning, but with only four episodes left I'm in for the haul. It looks like they're building to something big at the end. We'll see.

I agree with both of you, Dexter really is a phenomenal show. I was hooked as soon as I started watching the first season, and the second was just as good. Michael C. Hall is fantastic in the main role and I love how, even though he's what he is, you're still compelled to sympathise with him.

We haven't got the third series in the UK yet (which is slowly killing me) and I refuse to watch it online. Come on FX, get to it!

TV shows? Hmm. Most of them are crap nowadays. I only watch cartoons, along with the occasional Monk or Burn Notice (for Bruce Campbell).

Walker, Texas Ranger
The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.
The Tick (cartoon)
Invader Zim
Earthworm Jim
Ed, Edd, n' Eddy
Gargoyles
Batman: The Animated Series
Darkwing Duck
Inspector Gadget

Being a total Joss Whedon fanboy I've been faithfully watching Dollhouse since it started a couple of months back. It began slow, laying the groundwork, but with the last few episodes it's really been picking up. It's still not one of the all-time great Whedon shows, but if it can just survive the timeslot of death for a season or two I'm hopeful for its future. I'm not sure if this is the kind of show that can go on for seven seasons like Buffy did, though; the premise seems to set up a pretty definite arc, one that has to headed for some kind of clear ending, and after the present conflicts are resolved I don't know what will be left to tell.

In other news, after having it recommended to us by everyone we know and at least one person on this forum we blew through all 22 episodes of Rome last week. We hadn't planned to watch it that fast but once we started we couldn't put it down. A fantastic show.
