Ah, finally finished Fullmetal Alchemist....just in time for a second series! XD Well ok, I'm not REALLY done. I still have the movie to watch. Hopefully it'll answer my questions that linger about.

+The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: A very cool, very unique anime. It's half slice of life high school comedy/drama, half sci fi/fantasy show that I'm really digging right now (despite the fact I used to hate it for its ending animation). It's quite clever with its anime parodies at times, and most of the characters are pretty unique (and likeable, if you stick with the show for more than one episode). I also love that the show is aired in a non linear order (although unfortunately the DVD, and youtube playlist show the episodes in chronological order. Ruining some of the fun).

Sadly, just about everybody else here hates it.

I say check it out, if you don't mind Aliens, psychics, or time travlers im your high school comedy anime.

But stay far away if you hate Fred Savage Wonder Years style narration.

I just wanted to update and say I'm done with FMA completely....just in time for the series in 2 days! But I decided to start a new anime series regardless: Eureka Seven. So far it's pretty amazing. It's animation is outstanding, it's characters are being well-developed and the action never gets out of hand and only comes in when adding to the story. Can't wait to see it all.

Eureka 7 is great. I found the first half to be a little slow, but the second half really hooks you in.

Watched Elfen Lied for the second time the other night. I was going to just watch a few episodes... but I ended up doing a marathon of the whole thing

For all its flaws (occasional awkward lines, Yuka is a bit annoying at times), it's an incredibly engrossing anime. Everything from the beautiful artwork to the sad yet sweet story just hooks you in and doesn't let you go. It's not perfect by any means, but it's such a great, memorable little show.

Think I might go through Kino's Journey again sometime soon, another favourite of mine I just wish I could get Cowboy Bebop and Neon Genesis Evangelion boxsets for decent prices here in the UK...

I hate posting this in an official Anime/Manga thread for I think most Animes being watched are nothing but mainstream and meaningless and I'm afraid that people thinking the same way might not even check this thread out, but then again I can't just open up a new thread solely for a link.
So here goes: Kanojo to kanojo no neko (She and her cat). Enjoy. (It's only a few minutes long)

Clearly somebody hasn't watched FLCL.
But seriously, who says mainstream is bad or has to be meaningless?

Edit: dude is this by the guy who did 5cm per Second and Voices of a Distant Star? His work is pretty amazing.

You seemed to imply it in this line here: "I hate posting this in an official Anime/Manga thread for I think most Animes being watched are nothing but mainstream and meaningless."

Maybe I just read to much into it.

If the word "and" would have been "thus" or "hence" or "therefore" or whatever, then you'd been right, but "and" usually doesn't have that meaning.
Like saying "the graphics suck and the story's lame" wouldn't make anybody think one'd imply bad graphics making for a bad story.

Still your post implied there was something wrong with with being mainstream, or at least that you had a problem posting that video in a thread that mostly talked about mainstream anime. Again, maybe I'm reading to much into it.

Oh and that video was really cool btw. The animation was pretty amazing. Although I hate to say it, I didn't completely understand the story.

There's really not that much story. To me the fascination lies in the relation between the cat and, well, her.
The story only consists of tidbits, like the girl finding the cat, the cat finding a gf without truly loving her and the girl getting a sad call whose content is up to your imagination, though I think it might've been her boyfriend or some guy she really liked...but then again it could've been anybody else. Her mom, a good friend, whatever you think it might be.

I've recently watched Tekken: The Motion and The Sky Crawlers, however, I certainly didn't like them. Just thought I'd add them anyways.

Oh, and I'm adding Castle In The Sky. That movie was amazing. My friends who don't even like anime that much said Spirited Away was awesome, so I'm gonna watch that too.

Spirited Away was a very weird movie. It wasn't bad, but don't expect to understand what's going on more than half the time.

Just finished watching Clannad. Man, is it awesome. It has everything I'd ever want from an anime of its type and more. Good story check? Comedy...that's well done? Check? Fun to watch? Check. I urge everyone here who likes animes of this type (it's similar to Lucky Star and Haruhi genre wise, but quite different story wise). Definetely one of my favorite animes. Actually, scratch that. Everyone who likes, has liked, or will like (in the future) anime should watch this.

BTW, I was recently watching Astro Boy...I don't really like it that much. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's bad, but it's just not my kind of thing...

I think I already mentioned this before, but I'm watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood right now from the official website. Very nice quality for streaming and the translation is nice (even if I do have to wait a few extra days). I'm just bummed right now that there's no new episode next week (it'll be the week after that).

Heh, I tried to watch FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, but could only get about a minute into it before I finally got sick of the Japanese voice actors.(I guess I still have too much fondness for the american voice actors in the original)

Well, I watched the original FMA with Japanese voices so I only had to get used to any of the actors who changed. From what I can remember, only Roy had a big change in voice.

Can anyone give a good Hokuto No Ken (first season) link (PM or otherwise)? If not possible, maybe some instructions?

I just finished Eureka Seven recently, terrific anime and the relationships were really well done. Before watching the movie which is set in an alternate universe, I'm taking on a very short anime by the name of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". Perhaps you guys have heard of it? Yeah, I'm watching it in original airing order and so far it's very fun to watch. The anime just has this really fresh feeling to it even though it's technically not doing much new. Too bad school is in the way, otherwise I think I'd try to watch all/most of it tomorrow.

Well, just finished the original series of Haruhi Suzumiya. I plan to watch the new episodes at some point, but I want some space between so I don't change my opinion of the original episodes. I have to say I really enjoyed the Haruhi and I'll try to put up a full review sometime soon in the review thread.

Looks like I'm starting Cowboy Bebop now. I wasn't planning on watching it (especially the dubbed version, which is rare for me) but I somehow felt the urge to watch it today after seeing the kickass opening theme.

Dude, I think you'll enjoy it. Cowboy Bebop is freaking fantastic. And the dub is surprisingly good.

As for me, I've been addicted to the manga Monster. It might be one of my new favorites.

I'm watching Ronin Warriors for the first time in years. I forgot how terrible the dialogue was, but overall it's still as good as I remembered it!

I just read the first 6 volumes of "Pluto" by Naoki Urasawa (Monster, 20th Century Boys) & Osamu Tezuka (Astroboy, Kimba: The white Lion).

Great stuff so far!

I'm now watching Magic Knight Rayearth...and it's actually pretty good.O_o I wonder if the Saturn game is any good? It seems like it would make a great RPG.
