What was wrong with it?

I reckon it looks alright, and I've heard some good reviews, but I won't be going to see it.

whats wrong with it? its stupid.

story, characters: cliche hollywood waste of 80 minutes.
and references to HERBIE!! my god, its so bad!

only recommended for special effects fans and little kids.

youre better off watching three episodes of the original anime.

Herbie? Nope. Bumblebee was a VW Beetle in the cartoon, not a Camaro, hence the in-joke.

yes they turned him into something different, (i doubt bumblebee fans liked this) but so it doesnt feel that much like a blatant herbie ripoff.

the car buying scene and bumblebees behaviour is just like herbie anyways.

ah well, i dont care about this movie at all.

Final Fantasy XII: Advent Children 1.5/5

It definitely needs to be watched in conjunction with the game, since as a stand-alone movie it just plain sucks. Nope, I never did play the game so the movie, as I've heard from numerous parties before, makes little to no sense because of it.

I was able to piece together most of the general story bits, but it still was a confusing mess because there still were immense plot holes to be filled. I didn't find any of the characters very appealing, not to mention having no idea who some of them were or their motivations. While the animations and graphics were done well, generally, the whole drab and dull color scheme tended to make it ugly, none the less. The action sequences were a bit too repetitive, going on and on and on.

Nope, I was hardly impressed by this title. Fans of the game might like it, but I found it to be a very muddled and somewhat boring experience. Frankly, the non-game-based Final Fantasy movie Spirits Within is a much, much better film in almost all aspects, which I quite enjoy.

Appleseed (2004) 3.5/5

The cel-shaded characters look worked rather well with their regular CG environments. The story had some nice twists, which certainly kept my interest - albeit, one change of a character's mind seemed to come a little bit too quick - and the movie had some nice action sequences.

Side-note: I always watch movies in their original languages with subtitles. The sometimes available dubbed tracks just don't seem to work all that well, most of the time. Also, translations in subtitles always seem to be closer to what characters are actually saying.

i must say i found that movie very enjoyable. a fantastic improvement on the first apple seed movie. plus this one had a sweet music vid.

Tenacious D and the pick of destiny. 4 out of 5 stars.

what can i say. its tenacious D doing their thing without the limitations of a 12 rating that jack black was under on school of rock. if you like tenacious D you'll like this film if not, you wont.

similar films: school of rock, Bill and Ted's bogus journey.

Shrek 3 3/5

Not great, not bad, just entertaining enough. Won't watch it a second time, though.

I thought the soundtrack was fantastic, but the movie parts sucked. IMO they're just filler. Which is why I own the soundtrack and not the DVD

I liked Appleseed but everyone in the Anime community shuns the hell out of it. I quite liked Sky Blue A.K.A Wonderful Days.

But the G.I.T.S movies *shudders*

The GIGS can'[t be beaten, but the movies.

Might I recommend the Clint Eastwood film 'Unforgiven'? That's also a very good western you might like.

Wyatt Earp - 5/10

Only Western I ever liked was Tombstone. Flawless movie in every respect. But hmm lets see the last movie I saw was Superbad. All in all a pretty funny movie with the same humor along the lines of Knocked Up and 40 Year Old Virgin. With good reason too its done by the same director and mostly the same cast throughout all three of them. This one however being slightly less consistent with the laughs as there are some swing and misses here and there. Don't let that deter you though because on a whole its an enjoyable watch and well worth the price of admission. I'd say 7/10.

full metal alchemist: conquer of shamballa. 6/10.

its on the good side of average. the whole film feels very alien to the series. continuing to look at the large theams of the series (love, redemption, personal responsibility, scientific ethics, corruption) it pitches all this against the background of the political landscape in Germany about a decade before ww2.

its ambitious and it pulls it off adequately while tying up a few lose ends from the series. and it has a nicely done bitter sweet ending. but some how you come away not really caring.

hopfully this film was a set up for something bigger and better.

similar movies / stuff : steam boy, FMA the series.

The Simpsons Movie 2.5/5

It was somewhat entertaining, but it really felt like a lengthy regular episode. Good thing I only paid a buck-fifty to see it then.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry

Fairly good, some hilarious bits but just not funny enough at the same time. Better than some Sandler movies but not half as good as than his best.

6.75/10 (Not quite a 7/10, but better than 6.5/10)

Actually, I kind of enjoyed it!

I mean, it was awful it so many ways. It uses the source material awfully, is badly scripted, woodenly acted out... But it's just so daft it's hard not to enjoy it. Especially with those facial expressions from M.Bison

Rented Black Snake Moan over the weekend. A movie about a young nympho (Christina Ricci) with a troubled past and a man (Samuel Jackson), who finds himself in his own moral entropy, decides to take it upon himself to save the disturbed teenager with unorthodox practices. Overall a really decent flick, but there is alot of strong sexuality and questionable themes. 1 Star for the cinematography: the moody sountrack blends in seamlessly with the southern drenched atmosphere. This is the same director from the surprisingly well done Hustle & Flow. Expect the same style of directing, which isn't a bad thing. There are some truly excellent scenes packed in. This movie rides on a far more serious theme with a pretty tough concept to tackle (more or less the execution of Ricci's character).1 Star for the strong performances: Jackson but especially Ricci. This girl can do anything. Even Timberlake who plays Ricci's boyfriend who decides to go into the National Guard holds his own with what little screen time he has.1 Star for a well written story and excellent dialogue: There are a few cheesy and seemingly forced scenes but it never detracts from the movie on a whole. 1 Star for Ricci being half naked for pretty much the entire movie. Minus 1 Star for hit and miss execution with character development and a few difficult "close but no cigar" scenes. 4/5 Stars

The Heartbreak Kid (Ben Stiller, Jerry Stiller)

I found it very good. Hilarious in parts and typical of a Farelly Brothers movie, though a tad "sexually explicit" (can I say that?) at times for a certificate 15

Rambo 4

7/10

Its a good movie with all the action, the violence and fight scenes are so awesome, they should have just taken a bit lower with the gory bits like when he shoots the guy in the car and you just see him get blown to s***, its allot different to first blood and Rambo 3

Love Actually earlier on this evening.

Nice, light hearted film, a bit of a chick-flick, but with some genuinely funny moments.

Excellent movie, i give it 8/10. A lot of action in it, especially with the snipers but at some parts it was confusing.

I Am Legend

Saw this earlier tonight, very enjoyable and scary at times (lots of those JUMPY!) moments. It's basically about a man who's the last person on earth - won't spoil anymore, but I recommend you to go see it if you like a good fright.

8.5/10
