Psh, I can't believe how many people don't realize that the Super Mario Bros. movie is one of the finest moments in Hollywood history.

The Hills have Eyes.

Me and a few Friends watched it the other day. I was laughing for a lot of the movie though. Some parts are just funny... There are a few moments where You jump when something pops up, but usually it's predictable.

80/100

What I've seen over the past few weeks or so (Mostly copied from another forum <_< >_>)

Batman: Gotham Knight

Very odd one this. It's bordering on disposable and the way it's split into shorts naturally means it's inconsistent in quality, but the good outweighs the bad for me. Not essential but decent enough

7/10

Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny

A Tenacious D movie has the potential to be good goofy fun, but I found this really uninspired, with only the "I do not need a microphone" song coming close to making me smile. The whole story felt very by the numbers and the songs just weren't clever or funny.

4/10

Elfen Lied (Actually an anime series but I see it as a film of sorts!)

This isn't quite perfect, I could nitpick at it quite a bit. The ending disappointingly left loose ends open, the fan service gets a little ridiculous at times (Don't let us see up a schoolgirl's dress when she falls over, it's embarassing!) and one or two episodes around the middle dip in quality slightly.

With that said I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story treads on clichés but it's very well handled and I found myself really caring for the characters. It's an incredibly brutal anime that touches on very dark themes, but at the same time it's balanced with a light hearted side that shows hope. A really good watch that, despite its flaws, has left a good lasting impact on me.

9/10

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

First time watching it, and I had a lot of fun. Consistently entertaining and surprisingly very humorous in places. Harrison Ford is a legend and portrays one of cinema's best heroes very well. I shall be moving onto Temple of Doom and the Last Crusade soon! (And maybe Temple of the Crystal Skull)

9/10

Porco Rosso

I was expecting it to take itself more seriously than it did, but it wouldn't be a Miyazaki film if it wasn't light hearted. Very entertaining and touching with some inspired dialogue. I think it's one of my least favourite Miyazakis, but nonetheless I loved it Nice open ending too.

8.5/10

Although I thought it was a bit odd that the reason for Porco's transformation wasn't explained. I know it's not necessary to explain everything in films but the talk of a spell felt weird in what was otherwise a fairly standard early 1900s setting, I would have liked a little detail about it.

I saw a big poster of this movie when I was going to the movies the other day. It seams that you gave it a great score, care to give a better explanation?

Diary of the Dead
6/10
Entertaining, New ways to kill zombies introduced and not a bad Zombie flick to boot. Let down by the all-too-obvious social commentary about the spread of Information and popularity of Online news and media. It does the whole 'Cloverfield - Cameraman is Character' thing, however, there are several different times when the camera is switched. Not bad, just not excellent.

Dragon Wars
5/10
I didn't pay much attention, but this movie, although I had giant CGI monsters clearly on screen quite frequently, didn't really catch my attention that much. There was some overblown story about mystics in the background that just made it seem like they were trying to add sense to the Dragon-fueled madness. My solution: Less Plot, More Dragon Fighting!

I also tried watching Cloverfield again, but its too boring to sit through again...

The great movie that he saw is the original which I believe came out in the '50s. The new one is not out yet and so I would know if it is a good movie. You should definitely see the original though.

Invalid arguement. Movies you enjoy probably suck as much as the movies I enjoy.

But, a remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still? That's universally bad film making.

Sektor was over the past two days so we saw'd some films!

Transformers
(2007)

Ugh >_< Why on earth is it so long!? Its story is nowhere near good enough to justify that length, especially when it's filled with terrible writing, detestable human characters with all the personality of wooden sticks and uninteresting fight scenes. I did laugh at the inappropriately calm receptionist on the phone though.

3/10

Back to the Future Part II

Damn I love Back to the Future! Unfortunately this loses its way a bit towards the end, the way it could conclude at any moment in the last quarter sort of ruins it a little, and it's just not as well executed as the first film. Plus I think out of the three this is the one that doesn't work well on its own due to the sneaky cliff hanger ending. But hey, it's got Marty and the Doc and it's a lot of fun

7/10

Back to the Future Part III

Started off worse than II but had a much better latter half. Although sweet the Clara/Doc relationship didn't really do much for me (I wouldn't have really cared if she missed the train at the end), but otherwise it's good fun, and I really enjoyed the western setting and characters. I was worried it wouldn't end the series that well but thankfully it does a pretty good job of that.

8/10

(for reference I'd give BttF 1 a 9 or 10)

The Time Machine (1960)

This film is really good. The story is deep and makes sense, the special effects are passable for the time. Rod Taylor is brilliant as the man out of his time. This might seem slow but it builds up. Haven't seen the 2002 version yet but don't think it will live up to the greatness of this film.

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

Lots of fun and a visual feast! Strong performances from the cast and a cracking adventure story with good pacing and some very funny lines.

The Good, the Bad, and the

Wow, I gotta say this is a classic that deserves all the praise it receives. It's fantasticly stylish, and a surprisingly poigant anti war film. Also its badass. Oh, and it probably has the best movie soundtrack ever.

10/10

Tropic Thunder

Highly offensive, and incredibly funny. One of the best movies of the year (in a year chock full of awesome movies). Oh, and for the record I would go see Satan's Alley. And maybe the first three Scorchers.

8/10

Pineapple Express

Another hit from the Judd Apatow and friends. Hilarious as always. One of the few stoner comedies that is funny even if your not high. Surprisngly violent though...

8/10

El Topo

F***ing weird. Seriously, nothing can prepare you for how weird this movie is. Its like watching a spaghetti western on acid or something. Still, its quite interesting, and worth watching. I'm not sure if its a good movie or not, but its worth the experience. Now if only I could figure out exactly what it all means.

somewhere between 5/10 or 9/10 I'm honestly not sure which...

Tropic Thunder 9/10 -Best comedy I've seen all year

Love Guru 7/10 -Good if you're in the mood for silliness

Hellboy 2 8/10 -Good mix of humour and action with a deep thinking plot

Wanted 5/10 -Mess of a movie, more about looking good than making sense

Cannibal Holocaust

As brutal and disturbing as its made out to be. I'm not sure why I even watched it as I can't even stomach the saw movies.
I'm against censorship, but I can see why most of Europe banned this film. It had an interesting message, but I'm afraid it was mostly lost amongst all the violence and brutality.
In fact I kinda regret watching it, and feel like I need to take a shower or something...

7/10-it's not a good film, but it is a powerfull and disturbing one...

Paris When It Sizzles

Not one the best Audrey Hepburn movie, but fun for what it is.
And Audrey Hepburn is in it, and that is always a plus. Shame it couldn't help me forget Cannibal Holocaust.

7/10

God I watch weird movies...

dude I don't think I can handle anything worse than Cannibal Holocaust. In fact all day I've been debating if I should watch Salo.
What can I say, I'm a wuss when it comes to movies.

But now you've got my curiosity piqued...weirder than cannibal holocaust you say?

Yeah, but in a "bad" way, for lack of a better term. Cannibal Holocaust is actually a good movie compared to Island of Death. It's purely shock value stuff. Torture porn before Eli Roth thought he invented it.

Course, I liked Cannibal Holocaust...

If it wasn't for the actual animal killing I mighta liked cannibal holocaust. I mean the plot was interesting, and the message was good (if hypocritical), and it was shot convincingly. But dude the turtle scene killed me.

Batman Begins: 9/10
Great movie, plenty of backstory on the characters. The Scarecrow was sort of tossed aside as a villian, despite so much promise. But, an entertaining 'watch' nonetheless.

The Dark Knight: 10/10
Brilliant. The Joker is a fascinating character who manages to be so deep without any backstory. Heath Ledger's performance does the incredible writing justice. Very long, but pure gold, despite Two-face being thrown to the side as a villian.

If you need to calm down after watching Cannibal Holocaust why not try 'Cannibal The Musical'?

The Strangers was good but horrible. Really, really tense and sadistic in the most cruel way without resorting to buckets of gore.

I watched the new X Files movie the other day.

Meh. Like an OK episode, blown up into a movie. Seemed low budget and didn't have any continuation of the main themes of the series. Some awkward dialogue and plot holes drag it down a bit. Worth a rental or download, but nothing special.

5/10

Really looking forward to Burn After Reading. Hope to watch it next.

BTW - In my opinion Cannibal Holocaust was a horrible film given cult status because of the animal killings. I wish it didn't exist, and I love horror movies. In fact, I wish it didn't exist BECAUSE I love horror movies.

My thoughts exactly. I mean, it has some good ideas and could have been good, but man it just went way over the top (in the worst way). And I think now its only popular because of its notoriety (same goes for flower of human flesh).

Spirited Away

I've seen this several times but this is the first time in a little while and the first time in Japanese with English subs. Still one of my all time favourite films There's so much awe and spectacle and it's backed by a touching and involving story. I have to admit I think I prefer the script of the English dub, it gels with me a little better than the Japanese one and I think one or two themes are better presented with the dub.

All the same, brilliant.

I'm in the process of watching this also. I have about 40 minutes left. I don't like it as much as other similar movies but it's okay. I'll give it a score in a couple days.

Memories of Matsuko (8/10) : Colorful and strange japanese musical-drama. Kind of a mixture between Amelie, Citizen Kane & Moulin Rouge.

Into the Wild (9/10) : Darn good movie.

12 Angry Men (1957) (9.5/10): Great!

The Dark Knight (10/10): Enjoyed every minute. Especially Aaron Eckart did a great job.

I know everyone always says stuff like this, but read the book. It's better then the movie. While the movie captures the basics, the book provides the details which are very important to the story.

Ninja Scroll- Like Vampire Hunter D and Akira, this movie seems to be on every anime fan's "must watch" list. Unlike Vampire Hunter D (but like Akira), this one is actually worth watching.
Kinda goofy and awesome, it's almost an anime cliche. But definately worth watching, and if anything it started some of those cliches.

8/10

Oh, and just in case anyone cares, I actually like Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. Its the original Vampire Hunter D that I think is over rated (in other words it sucked).
