Default Anyone here like hockey?

Ive been playing alot of boot and regular hockey lately so I decidied to make a thread about it. So the main topic of the thread is just to say if u played and how bad it was the first time u played or skated. I wont forget the first time i skated i was little and hit my head pretty good on the ice. But i stuck with it and ive been playing hockey for easily 10 years of my life. So hopefully some ppl post here but im sure some will sense there alot of canadians on this site.

I would have posted sooner but I didn't see the thread. Anyway, I love hockey. I've been skating for as long as I can remember and I was on a hockey team until I was in eleventh grade. However, I haven't played much since starting university. As for how good I'm, I'd say I'm actually quite average. My favourite team is the Maple Leafs, even though I know they're trash. I also own several hockey games, though the most recent one is from 2002.

I played all the way tell 10th grade which i regret i should of finished but oh well nouthing i can do now. And my favorite team would be Minnesota Wild mainly because i cheer for any MN team.

Also something to say is the best arena uve played in my two would be The Ralph Engelstad in Thief River Falls which had a elevator to the locker rooms. And the other Ralph in Grand Forks which is the home of the Fighting Sioux. I played on the practice ice they use not the one the use for games but damn was it nice.

I've always been fascinated with hockey, unfortunately my mother wouldn't let me play on a team (too expensive and obviously she'd freak out)
I used to always go to the ice skating rink at the mall back in the day. it closed down a long time ago, now the closest one is in Berkeley which is a 15 20 min drive... In California we don't have many Ice rinks.

so I have been stuck to video game hockey...
so... I suggest NHL 09 and a PS3, I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to form a VC Forums hockey team!

I don't watch much Hockey until the Playoffs... that's coming up pretty soon!

I love hockey, though I am a terrible skater (such a bad Canadian, I know! one might even say "embittered"... ). I've been following the NHL since I was a tiny kid, though, and the Detroit Red Wings have always been my team. I was so happy to see them finally start doing well (in the late '90s) after sucking hard for a long time. Steve Yzerman was and is my favourite player, though we have a great leader now with Lidstrom.

I hate hockey!...just kidding....I did get into it for two seasons when I had to stay with my best friend after my first wife and I separated. I was born and raised in Texas, though, and we had to be stuck with the Dallas Stars, so my interest went away quickly and the last videogame I played was NHL '99

Yea i noticed u were a gopher fan by ur avitar. Kinda sucks that im closer to the sioux arena then the gophers but oh well. Im not a big fan of watching hockey tho i would much rather play it. I was lucky that my dad worked at the arena so i got to skate for free and go there whenever i wanted to.

Lots of places to skate for free around here!

Looks like NHL '10 is coming out in early-mid Sept. so I might just skip '09 and get this new one. I'll do some reading first to make sure it improves in some areas without taking out some of the stuff that made it good.

Default Stanley Cup Playoffs

Well, it's that time of year again: Stanley Cup Playoffs for 2010!

Washington plays Montreal tonight for game #1, while LA battles Vancouver at the garage. Other series tonight are Buffalo/Boston, Chicago/Nashville.

Both Pittsburgh and Detroit lost yesterday to Ottawa (5-4) and Phoenix (3-2), Colorado won 2-1 vs. San Jose.

Poor old Wingies, had a brief lead. I hoped they were going to win that game. I don't think they can handle a long series of tough, close games. Their old bones just can't take it.

I'm hoping for Detroit or Vancouver to come out of the West, Pittsburgh or Montreal (ha!) to come out of the East.

Chicago actually plays tonight. I sensed that something was going on at the United Center.

Horray for Canucks, Habs!

Come on Pittsburgh win, Washington lose (Chigago probably won't unforunately...)

Pittsburgh win tonight thanks to Crosby heroics (1G 1A). Malkin invisible.

Great to see the Wings playing like themselves again, with a Zetterberg hat trick, sinking the Coyotes 7-4.

Very disappointed to see the chokemaster Sharks actually pull through and tie their game up with 30 seconds left then win in OT.

And Nashville beating Chicago is completely "meh" to me. The Hawks need a real goalie.

I assume you're laughing at the fact that Doan's injured...? Now the Wings will be able to grind past them.

Good to see Crosby pick up another goal and assist tonight in a Penguins victory.

Watching the end of a very boring Sharks/Avs game right now. Go Avs Go!

Dude I hate the Avs and the Wings. I also dislike the Coyotes because AZ should not have a hockey team...

Too bad my crew was pretty awful this year. MN should always have a good hockey team IMO.

Hey, I respect the Wild.

I totally hate the Avs (ancient rivalry with my main team), but I hate the Sharks more and I want them to choke out in the first round. The Avs can eat it against whoever they play after that for all I care.

The Wings have been my team since '90 or so, back when they sucked, so I always root for them no matter what. The Penguins are my team in the East. I also usually root for Canadian teams just because, so I'm hoping for a Montreal vs. Pittsburgh conference final in the East and Wings vs. Vancouver in the West.

I think its about time the Habs win the Cup haha. But I really don't care this year. I think it is stupid that playoff hockey last soooooo long. They should not be playing a 7 game series in the opening round. Watching the Stanley Cup finals in May or June is pretty un-hockey like....

Maybe in Minnesota! It's hockey all year, here.

I personally like longer series because they add a lot to the game. Shows a team's endurance if they have to grind out of a long series, also allows a team to make a comeback if they get in a hole and then start showing some character, etc.

No, we love our hockey here. State of hockey! I just think the first round should be best of 5.

I was just referring to the not very hockey-like in May/June comment. Nothing could be more definitive of June than hockey! Hockey!

The hawks have a 3-0 lead over the shark tank. Now if only they also blow a big lead!

(That won't happen - only the bruins).
