DSiWare

+ Quick Fill Q

Among other things, I'm not surprised at all we didn't get a 3DS VC game. Lock 'n' Chase* wouldn't really change the status of the week and Trip World wasn't even originally released here.

* We'll probably get this next week with Zen Pinball. Hey it would be funny if Blades of Steel came instead so I could make a [Pin]balls of steel parody!

Nintendo eShop Update: January 11-12, 2012

On this otherwise quiet download week in terms of quality, comes the sequel to Fortified Zone for the handheld Virtual Console. Although it was only released for Japan for the original Game Boy, and that is also the case here.

North America gets another round of round objects. The last time that happened was when Side Pocket and an update to Pokedex 3D came around (not to mention that IGN had a preview about Jazzy Billiards 3D PROFESSIONAL that same day).

GAMES/APPLICATIONS
  • (EU) Doodle Fit (DSiWare)
  • (EU) Make Up & Style (DSiWare)
  • (JPN) The Fortress of Fury 2 (Game Boy/Virtual Console)
  • (NA) Zen Pinball 3D (Zen Studios, Nintendo 3DS Download)
  • (NA) 101 Pinball World (DSiWare)
  • (NA) Rytmik: Hip Hop King (DSiWare)
VIDEOS (Listing North America only)
  • Rytmik: Hip Hop King Info Video
  • 101 Pinball World Info Video
  • Zen Pinball 3D Info Video
  • Dinosaur Office: Volcano [NA]
  • Flying Steps [NA]
  • Kirby: Right Back at Ya! (3DS Special; January 14 - NA)
  • Son of a Pitch: Y2K [NA]
Motivation Mondays
  • Its another Monday, and this day should be some minor changes to the layout in the individual lists.
  • Software changes added today before 8:30 PM pacific time will be updated.
  • Due to a loss in the family (third in 6 months) and no changes to the list, no updates were preformed the past few days.

Thank you...

Anyways, I continued making minor changes to the general individual lists.

Expected to arrive in NA Nintendo eShop January 19th
  • DSiWare: Gaia's Moon: One of my most anticipated games of recent memory. With what appears to have an "unlimited adventure mode", its looks to be a steal at $1.99!

Thread Summary: January 13
  • Some minor original system layout fixes on individual lists (classics)
  • Software Tally is currently on #530.
  • 915 active copies in all tally lists in the forum -- 85 until 1000. If a North American user or a user that has a North American Wii or 3DS that posts the 1000 entry can choose one of four games of their choice on Club Nintendo and a code will be sent by me (hopefully you don't have them all!).
  • This is a one time milestone bonus for the 1000th entry. If the tally goes under that number then reaches it again it will not count.
  • There's about a week left of near-daily updates until the thread only gets updated on Motivation Mondays again.

Nintendo eShop (handheld) Demo Service

Demos are making their debut this week on the Nintendo 3DS in North America and Europe, with trials of Resident Evil: Revelations and Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic (selected areas only) arriving first on the storefront.

North America announcement | Europe announcement

Note about adding demos:
  • Users may add all demos here, but only if they don't have the full game.
  • If a user adds a Nintendo 3DS demo(s) and then eventually gets the full version of the game(s), or if the demo expires (if applicable), the demo version(s) will be removed from the promo list.
  • Shortly down the road there is plans to have a "Game Graveyard" list (all users, one post) showing current deletions from everyone's list, that they no longer have, or doesn't even exist on the Nintendo eShop (like Nintendo Zone). This will hopefully help user remember what games that have removed and if they want to re-purchase the software again in the future. Additionally, there may be some titles that were supported at the beginning of the thread list, but are no longer supported today.

I'll be busy today, so I'll post today's additions now from this week's shop update.

Trial Software

+ Resident Evil: Revelations (demo)*

Virtual Console (handheld)

+ Lock'N Chase (Game Boy)

DSiWare

+ Anne's Doll Studio: Gothic Collection
+ Gaia's Moon

*Just for the heads up everyone, I contacted Merlin at an earlier date via the PM system regarding Nintendo 3DS demos on the eshop. This user said at the time that he currently has no plans to count these demos downloaded from the eshop. It was considered as part of "3DSWare" and said that only full version, physical copies** would be included in the "What 3DS Games Do You Own?" thread (Feel free to contact me Merlin if you change plans).

**However (this is extremely unlikely, but just incase), if Nintendo all the sudden randomly puts full game card software as a digital download they will never be counted in this thread (unless otherwise stated by that updater), because it would lose the purpose of Merlin maintaining the Nintendo 3DS retail list.

Haha, I realize I maybe should do this at the blog instead, but yet again there isn't a "Post History" there (just incase I made a mistake).

My thoughts right now is that a lot of users would probably think that kind of list "GL" is kind of pointless (like who would post a list of titles that have been removed from users collection). I could be wrong though...

It would help me in the stats department how many active titles and how many removed titles. If a user that re-adds/re-purchase the title they got rid of before, it would come out of the Graveyard [removal] list and back into the user(s) collection.

EDIT: Just to note of course, there are some titles that I used to support at the beginning of the DSiWare service, but no longer do today. These software will indefinitely stay in that new list.

I might reconcider if I should get ZP3D or not. The user reviews in my region on the eshop have been great so far. If it gets over 100 ratings (roughly 90 5 star + 10 4 star), then I may get it. Although I already recently transfered Pinball Pulse since it finally came on the eshop just a few weeks ago.

Nintendo listed Earthworm Jim on the non-transferable list on the NOA website, however it is available from the eshop anyway.

I'll contact Nintendo about that error and also remind and convince them when the Domo games are coming as well.

Its a shame though that The Oregon Trail and Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is excluded from Nintendo eShop. I would have purchased The Oregon Trail and able to transfer Asphalt 4 onto the 3DS, even though there have been ports/sequels that came on the 3DS game card already.

The rest on that list doesn't matter really if those games are not on the storefront but if would have been nice if users were able to transfer 100% of the downloadable games anyway even though they are not available for purchase on the eshop at this time. Thats the move I didn't like the most from Nintendo in terms of transfering titles to a 3DS.

Anyways, the daily updates are over after almost two months. Thanks to everyone for the patience and support the last few months. Updates will be made on Monday only, unless requested for a good reason.

Request an update? -- If you would like your list or the whole thread to be updated for a appropriate reason (new user, lots of software change posts since last update, etc.), please let me know via PM or other means.

*I'm taking the day off, so there is no thread update today.

Thumbs up

Maybe you could update every thursday or friday? If you still going to post the eShop updates, that is. But that's up to you. You've done a great job so far!

Anyway, ZP3D sure is great, but the tiny screen is something to get used to. Maybe I should've gotten the iOS version for my iPad... nah, done is done. With this last download, I'm nearly reaching the limit of my SD Card. About 600 blocks left, so I'll be looking for a replacement (bigger SD) or see if removing photo's and/or music will free up enough blocks for future downloads.

Yeah sure! I'll add some things on Thursdays (between 7:00 - 9:00 pacific time). Some of the title name updates, tallys, descriptions, layout changes can be done on Motivation Mondays.

Yeah I agree that the tiny screen can be difficult, depending on the game. The NES games especially since I'm not used to play those on the small screen.

Thats too bad. Luckily, I got a 32GB during the 2010 Christmas season for $85.99 at Future Shop, so I have a lot of space. The amount of blocks I have left is 213,458 -- after around 141 DSiWare titles, 3DS VC, 3DS Download software, music and photos.

Looks like I could be wrong again! Nintendo's Satoru Iwata is considering putting up digital distribution versions of Nintendo 3DS + Wii U retail games on the Nintendo eShop.

Although, they haven't mentioned the 3DS at this moment, Wii U is apparently going to have online user accounts.

Anyways, I made a minor fix regarding the latest thread update note on post one.

Had some extra points lying around from my birthday so I got these again for my 3DS since I couldn't transfer them.

Cancelled update: Motivation Monday - January 30

Sorry for the late notice, but there was no maintenance update performed today due to:
  • No PC access: My laptop had to be repaired this past weekend (the good news is that they finished it today, however I haven't had the time to pick it up).
  • Men's club meeting: I forgot to mention that the last Monday of every month I go out for dinner or other activities starting at 7pm Pacific Time. Although, there may be some of those times that I might get an update done, there may be others that I'm unable to perform a maintenance update.

**Sorry if I caused any inconvenience for any of those list fanatic folks that like to see those threads up-to-date. However, in fairness the next time I have PC access, that update will be made regardless of what the day is.

UPDATE SPECIAL: Improvements
  • Software listing is updated to #556.
  • Graveyard Zone: Titles reduced from 36 --> 34 due to the re-submission of the content by hayes1516.
  • Statistics updated.
  • Nintendo Video image link fixed.
  • Added Sakura Samurai & Undead Storm on deck (so things would be a bit eaiser on Thursday) -- purchases made by the updater this week.
  • Other fixes may have been made.
Next week in Japan...
