OK: It's the only way OoT could be any worse.

Best Game Ever.

Well that's both bases covered adequately...

On a serious note is this essentially a remake or just the hoary old N64 version with a 3D coat of paint?

Some people can't even see 3D properly.

It looks like a full remake to me, at least by the images so far: http://e3.nintendo.com/images/ctr/ot...es/zelda/3.png

Apparantly the Water Temple will be redone.

The Escapist : News : Ocarina of Time's Water Temple Won't Suck in 3DS Remake

P.S I'd love it if they made the Water Temple harder.

Hmm, if they do smooth out the terrible N64 graphics and I can turn the 3D effect off entirely, then this might actually make OoT palatable. The 3DS control scheme can't be worse than the N64 controller.

Pretty sure mine and Beta's opening posts were a hilarious example of theatrical synchronized trolling (TST).

I have mixed feelings about this. Why are they not concentrating on a new 3DS experience instead of trying to rush out this remake? Seems to me they don't have a very good start on any first-party titles to justify high day one sales to me. Not sure if I would get this or not, and that's saying a lot coming from me. I liked the original N64 version, and they have never remade a Zelda to my knowledge...I hope they know what they are doing

It's not saying that much from you seeing as you still havn't beaten the original!

The real question is will it look as good as the Metal Gear game.

YouTube - METAL GEAR SOLID SNAKE EATER 3D on Nintendo 3DS

If it still looks like a N64 game it could be embarasing.

I wouldn't call that a remake. It was a harder version of OOT that was made right after it for Japan, it just didn't make it here until later on the Gamecube. I'd only call something a remake if it is the same game with things that are updated for a new console.

Yeah. Master Quest wasn't a remake it was what was left of the canned "Ura Zelda" 64DD project. It's an OOT remix if anything.

Master Quest is really like the second quest in the original Zelda and it was designed to be just that.

Wonder if they'll actually include Master Quest IN 3D, as an unlockable after beating Ganon...

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Master Quest 's only differences were
- a slightly different title logo
- and objects in all the dungeons placed in an alternative way.

I don't know why it's called "Master Quest" since I thought it was easier. Especially the water temple lost all of it's puzzliness; the spirit and fire temple too.

Also - because of the new object placement - great puzzles were just lacking in Master Quest. They were replaced with... err.. not so good stuff?! Mostly path blocking boulders you had to bomb away.

Yeh, there still was fun to be had, if you like getting through the dungeons in a different way, visiting rooms in a different order and find different stuff in the chests.

I completed Master Quest 100%, (all heart containers, all skulltullas, all expansions) but I was disappointed throughout the game because the overworld wasn't changend a bit. It was a rush from one dungeon to the next, just to see the differences. It was not worth to be pressed on a disc just for some worse dungeons imo. It should have been included from start, just like "GAME B" in the NES game.

Stick to the original OoT.

I must have failed to mention, but I beat it finally! Almost didn't make it out the castle in time, but did manage it, just to almost die fighting Ganon. Don't know what took me so long, I guess I was just intimidated by the final bosses, only to find they weren't as difficult as I thought they would be. Next step, beating Wind Waker.

Four New Screens From Ocarina Of Time 3DS

Colors seem much more vivid. There is much better texturing. Link's model looks completely remade. It also looks like items are selected via touch-screen and with five slots instead of 3.

It looks like something I'll buy. Too bad Zelda games never get cheap, otherwise I'd just wait a few months for the price to drop. Seriously, the ****ing Wii launch game STILL sells for $50 new.

Now it can be overrated in 3 dimensions! The gameplay additions astound me.

It's a remake, not a sequel.

I know you were sarcastic, but you can't really expect gameplay additions from a remake.

I'm not sure about that. I can think of at least one REmake where that wasn't the case...and probably several more.

Excellent example right der. And, hey, if you want one closer to home how about the REmake for DS? I mean, ****, it had quite a lot added to it. Hell, how about Super Mario 64 DS? May as well have been completely new.

I'm not saying remakes never have new gameplay additions, but that's it's not something that you should expect from one. Especially considering this is Zelda, and the closest thing that its gotten to a remake is Master Quest.

Everything else I'm alright with I suppose, but I totally disagree this is a remake since these are really just ROM dumps with the button's changed to reflect the Gamecube controller (at least I think so, it's been awhile). And if we did count Collector's Edition as one, then we could say all N64 VC games are remakes, since they offer 480p (right?) whereas the original versions were not available in that mode.

Well, there's a Wind Waker demo on the disc, and a Zelda chronology video and these are things that weren't originally on any of the Zelda games featured on the disc. There's a new intro music with a remix of the Zelda theme, and you mentioned the altered button graphics, so it's debatable, but for me it's a light remake, especially because the N64 games on it were in hi-res - before the time a VC existed. And that is reason enough to call it a remake.

A 12-13 year old game is the reason why you have to get the new DS?

In my case it would be an 18 years old game (The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening) if that one is available at launch in the 3DS VC eShop, but it's announced so it'll come sooner or later.

Yes, 20 years old Game Boy games - playable in 3D - that's the main draw for me.
Can't wait to get a huge 3D Game Boy collection. Miss my old Game Boy games I had to give away when I was a kid.

Unfortunately, I think Nintendo is only adding 3D to a select number of Game Boy games (so not all of them). Well, as long as the best ones are 3D, I'm OK with that.
