And it's going to be even better than the original with updated graifics and 3D!!! I guess you could say I'm kind of excited for it.

How could anyone not be? Playing one of the best games ever wherever you want? IN 3D.

DO A BARREL ROLL! (in 3D)!

I hope that they use the same voice overs from the original.

That would be sweet. It would be cool if they mixed in old ones with new ones.

And maybe the thread should be renamed and moved now that we know what the game is?

Exactly, I will not accept a new cast. It NEEDS the same dialogue, even if that means no new levels. ;P

Thanks for moving this thread! Awesome. Anyone else think the screenshots for this game look good?

I hope the DS comes built in with some of these games, or at least some sort of collection. I wouldn't really want to go out and buy some of these N64 remakes by themselves and I'd rather not download this to my DS since I already have it on Wii. If they came out with a collection with maybe 5 N64 games on it I'd probably buy it.

Will there be any new content at all? Or is it just the same game with 3D effects?

Are you serious? They're going to sell them individually for $29.99-$39.99 each.

Like Nintendo would give away free gems like this.... HA

It will probably come pre-loaded with 3D shape viewer or something lame like that.

"gems" / lazy ports / cash grabs

Rydia said it best in the other thread. It'll be a good year (at least) before developers start learning that they can use the gimmick to pimp good games rather than using games to pimp the gimmick. Before that, expect to see a lot of arbitrary tacked-on 3D and more N64 (and maybe GCN) ports.

Hopefully there's a price drop around the time we start seeing good games for it.

I will have to wait and see how the ports turn out. They could be really well done and merit a purchase from yours truly, but If they are done poorly then you can forget about me wasting money on great games that I already have in some other form.

But I would really like for these ports to be good. As well as a wide selection of new games.

Lazy port? They updated the graphics, added 3D and hopefully some extras.

A lot more added then a lot of the SNES ports for GBA (Which still turned out to be a great console anyway :P)

So they hopefully won't be lazy ports. Adding 3D to Ocarina of Time is like adding touch-screen controls to... well, SNES/N64 game.

A lot? OK... Anyway, the GBA turned out to be a great console in spite of its lazy ports because of a large library and some longevity. I'm sure the 3DS will turn out to be a great console too after the first year or so of turds because of a hopefully large library and some hopefully longevity.

My point mainy was the SNES ports looked near exactly the same, hence the graphical update adding a lot more then those. ;P You had extras, but that was mostly it.

I personally would've preferred a new game myself. I still have my N64 copy (and I still play the damn thing regularly), but I guess that's just me.

I would have prefered a new Star Fox.

Don't see how these are any more lazy ports than Super Mario 64 DS was (which I wouldn't say it was). These are already confirmed (from those "screenshots") to have new, updated graphics with 3D effects so that's one new thing. Being on a new system means new controls so that's automatically one new thing. There will probably be music/sound changes too if I remember the differences between the two Super Mario 64s correctly. And there will probably be gameplay changes too if it's anything like Mario 64 DS (having Luigi, Wario & Yoshi as playable characters with different abilities).

Maybe I'm just being optimistic because I love the idea of portable OoT & SF64, but I like to think they are actually putting effort into these "ports" (which hopefully could be called remakes upon final evaluation)

Hopefully.

By contrast, I couldn't care less about playing those games again. I'm hopefully hoping that they'll actually invest some time and money in creating interesting new games that make intelligent use of the new technology.

I want them to make it on the game cards, that's just more Club Nintendo coins in my pocket. I don't think we'll get 30+ coins per game by the built-in stuff.

I have a feeling that Nintendo is releasing this game to test the waters for future Star Fox games. Since the sales of Star Fox games have been going down hill since the N64 and the fans always ask for the series to be on rails I think it's clear that Nintendo wants to see if they can actually make money off of this series again by giving the fans what they want without too much work for themselves.

I actually prefer the DS for this reason A lot of the GBA ports were just Money grabing tactics Like releaseing the Mario ports sepertatly instead of together in one cartige.

Actually, you know, a Super Monkey Ball style game could potentially work very well on the 3DS (what with the 3D display and with the gyroscope/tilt sensor stuff). But I'd expect such a game to be built from the ground-up for the system. I'm not sure any game built to be controlled on a D-pad would translate well to the 3DS motion controls (nevermind the display issues).

I guess the Wii SMB game might port well.

Well, I might decide to get StarFox 64 [3D] if the reviews are good, and the price point is decent for a remake. If not, then a no show [I already own SFC for DS].

I don't expect of the Wii port is coming, since they're both basicly the same presentation [Wii + DS]. The 3D wouldn't do too much difference on that game, unless they make a follow-up that looks completely different.

Although to promote it's release, they could FINALLY gave us Starfox/Starwing for the VC! =D

The Kid Icarus DS game? It certainly pertains to the part you seem to care about the most, that being that it is new. Dunno about the intelligent use of the new technology, only time will tell on that.

Kid Icarus is the best first party game announced, along with PilotWings Resort and possibly Paper Mario 3DS.

CORRECTION ---

I mean't to say a port of SMB from the Wii to the 3DS, incase anyone wanted to know...

I just recently was showed some screen shots from this game. Had to play through it again on the N64 and it was wonderful. It got me all excited again for this to come out. Can't wait to get the remake for the 3DS. I started trying to think of some "easy to include" extra content that would be cool. This would be an awesome opportunity to have online death matches...

Is it a remake of the 64 version? I assumed it was based around the Wii Sports Resort stuff.

I thought all the 3DS games were remakes of N64 games.

Although it would be cool if Pilot Wings had a mode where you can use the Arwing.

It sure would! or the landmaster to drive all over the Island. But the Arwing would be sweet. You could fly around, shoot targets, then eject and parachute down onto the landing zone.

So....saw the most recent trailer and it doesn't seem like they have the original voices which makes the priority level for buying this (for me at least) quite low now. The original voices are half of the greatness of the original game: the lines are some of the most quoted video game quotes ever! Here's a link to a vid: Star Fox 64 3D does a barrel roll to retail on September 9 | Joystiq

It sounds like the same actors to me. They may have redone the voices, but they're still close enough, IMO. Granted, I'll never get a copy of the game anyways, but if I had to play it, I wouldn't have a problem.

I dunno, might be something to do with the N64's sound quality when it came to voices...

Either way, if this looks as good as OOT 3D, then I'll be more then happy.

This will be my next Nintendo 3DS game. This looks pretty good, and I can't wait to try it out again!
