Angry Post your Pokemon team from HG/SS

I got SoulSilver and this is my team:
Typhlosion
Slowking
Crobat
Steelix
Shiny Guardus
Victreebel
I don't use legendaries because it's an unfair disadvantage to other people and people think your a wuss, and you can't play Battle Frontier with legendaries... Once my team is perfect maybe I will create A Legendary team just for the heck of it, Mewtwo is so in there
Why red face on the thread title? Because that's like the closest thing that looks like PokeBall

I doubt it. I think I must be the only person in the world that's never played Pokemon at this point.

I just realised I have a personal analogy with Pokémon and Final Fantasy:

I love the world in both games, the characters and music,
the main series is very boring to play but I love playing all the spin-offs!

After blue/red/yellow ocassionaly I got some new editions like Ruby, Leaf Green and Pearl. They never hooked me long enough, the combat system is just too slow for me and the grinding is way too much. It was never possible to OCD one of them so I wouldn't bother anymore.

Still I'll get the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare) games and Poképark (Wii).

I rarely grind in Pokemon... In HeartGold I only had to grind once, just to get stupid Butterfree to learn gust in time for a gym fight. However, I do like to play a more strategic Pokemon game.

What Griding ?
I only have to battle defeat each & every trainer once to make my party of 4 strong & the money to get all the items i need to complete the main game .
Then after the main game i get my 2 final pokémon to my party & then train them up .

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon i actually hate that game .
I got Blue Rescue team & it was way too confusing .
It put me of from playing any more of Chunsofts Mestery Dungeon games ever wether they Pokémon licensed Final Fantasy Licensed or even Chunsofts own Shiren the wonderer .

Is that Final Fantasy Fables Chocobo's Dungeon (Wii) licensed by Chunsoft?
I mean, is it the same game (just with different characters) as Shiren and PKMN MD?

Cos if FFF CD is like PKMN MD I now have to decide...
i don't need too many rogues.

And why the hell are Kiwi, Beta and Jogo banned?

Default My team

SoulSilver

Gengar
Golem
Feraligatr
Togepi
Pidgey
Red Gyarados

I'm not so balanced... but I like my party nonetheless. Gengar is always my top slot in every game; that is not to change.

For SoulSilver:

Meganium
Red Gyarados
Lugia
Ampharos
Lapras
Magmar

Unfortunately most of them are still in their low 40s, so I got ways to go before I can even come near beating Lance.

If you think that I may have not quite a chance.. I've been playing the strategery game and have them between 38 and 48 (because Butterfree needs all the help she can get, but most of them are below 43)

Depends on by what a long way to go .

If i can have a party of 4 pokémon of 54-56 & then defeating Cynthia's 6 60-65 pokémon you should do a similar thing .
If im right lance's party is actually a bit weaker .

I beat the E4 and the pokemon champion with just: ampharos, butterfree and gyarados... As long as you keep a varied moveset, you'll be fine.

Goofin' around, haven't got around to beating Morty [4th Gym Leader] yet, so here's my party:

Beedrill = Holy crap, I love this guy!
Feraligatr = My starter Pokémon, now he's just big and ugly.
Geodude = My HM Slave.
Pidgeotto = Leveling him up so I can give him a good move set.
Ponyta = Just caught this one, trying out this guy's worth.
Vulpix = Crappy move set so far.

Damn enig, you found a PONYTA and a BEEDRILL? I'll have to go back to hunting.

Like enig, I'm not working on putting together a "serious" team yet. My party is mainly just 'manz that I happen to like:

L.30 FERALIGATR - my starter
L.30 KANGASKHAN - Surf/Headbutt/Cut
L.35 GOLBAT - Fly, Mean Look, also a super tank
L.33 MEGANIUM
L.29 QUILAVA
L.12 DROWZEE - just training him up to learn Hypnosis

DROWZEE normally isn't in my team. I also have a L.26 GEODUDE I use for Rock Smash/Strength, and a L.20 KRABBY I sometimes use for False Swipe or whatever it's called, on the rare occasion that I need it. I was also training a PIKACHU, but she kind of fell behind...

I have another Ponyta if you want to do a trade.

My team isn't serious yet aside from my Feraligatr and Beedrill, I'm still testing them out and seeing which ones works best with the way I like to do battle. I'm also hunting Pokémons for my gag team.

You have SS like me, so I don't know what I have to offer you. The only HG exclusive I have right now is Growlithe, and I have some starters.

[PS: Moving this thread to the DS section of the forum from General Discussion, 7 April 2010.]

Doesn't matter to me, I always like trying out any type of pokerymanz.

So gimme something that you don't like or want, I can see if I can put good use to it.

I've transferred my Sinnoh and Kanto champs over to my SoulSilver game from Pearl, so my party is pretty *****in'.

Gabbi (level 53 Garchomp)
  • [Dragon] Dragon Claw
  • [Ground] Dig
  • [Dark] Crunch
  • [Fire] Fire Fang
Gabbi's pretty well-rounded. When my other pokemon don't have attacks that will damage an enemy, Garchomp will usually come through. He also has Dig, which lets me get out of a dungeon fast.

Piggy (level 55 Pidgeot)
  • [Flying] Fly
  • [Flying] Wing Attack
  • [Ground] Sand-Attack
  • [Normal] Whirlwind
I always keep a bird in the party. It's usually Pidgeot/Fearow (which you catch early) or Pelipper (which can learn Fly and several of the water HMs).

Snake (level 49 Steelix)
[Normal] Rock Climb
[Normal] Strength
[Normal] Cut
[Fight] Rock Smash
My HM slave #1, and also my tank. He has the ability Sturdy, which protects him from one-hit KOs. He's pretty good for whittling down annoyingly tenacious enemies (like Chansey).

Woopsire (level 55 Quagsire)
  • [Water] Surf
  • [Water] Waterfall
  • [Water] Whirlpool
  • [Ground] Earthquake
HM slave #2. He's much more useful in battle than Steelix, mainly because his HMs align with his type. He's also better because he's dopey-looking.

Chuster (level 65 Raichu)
  • [Electr] Thunder Bolt
  • [Electr] Thunder
  • [Normal] Quick Attack
  • [Electr] Thunder Wave
Chuster is a powerhouse, so long as you keep Leppa berries around. He has the delightful ability Static, so enemies that attack him directly are paralyzed. Should that fail, he's got Thunder Wave for paralyzing enemies (like pesky legendaries that run away).

Pachi (level 93 Pachirisu)
  • [Elect] Discharge
  • [Elect] Spark
  • [Normal] Swift
  • [Normal] Super Fang
I can't control Pachi right now, but he's in the party anyway because of his fantastic Pick-up ability. I normally restrict myself to one electric rodent at a time, so as soon as I get the gym badge that'll let me control him, I'll send Chuster back to the box.

UPDATE:
ERUPTOR (Typhlosion) (Funny that name would made sense if he actually new Eruption move, which he doesn't) lvl 100 Moves: Fire Blast, Lava Plume, Swift (POOP, but never misses), Flamethrower
OBI-WAN (Slowking) lvl 71 (Awesome Pokemon, mediocre speed, his called SLOWking for a reason, he is a real killer to your team if he learns Nasty Plot) Moves: Surf, Nasty Plot (BEAST), Psychic, Shadow Ball
VICTREEBEL lvl 50 (Will likely replace him with Venusaur) Moves: Don't remember
STEELIX lvl 50 (Probably going to replace him with Agron or Tyranitar soon) Moves: HM SLAVE
CROBAT lvl 50 (Will definitly replace him with Aerodactyl, which I already have but his noobish, I got Crobat from Sinnoh BTW) Moves: Mean Look, Fly, Air Cutter, and... forgot
NEPTUNE (Shiny Gyaradus) lvl 32 (I don't even use him anymore, probably going to replace him with a Dragon type like Dragonite, Garchomp, or Samalice) Moves: Don't remember
This is not my final team, I will likely change it many times, I'm thinking about adding Raichu or Gengar as well

Still running this team for now, except QUILAVA has evolved to his final form, and DROWZEE is now a level 30 HYPNO. The rest of the team is in the mid-late 30s. I have the shiny Gary DOS, but I can't bring myself to use him because I love my starter so much.

Upgraded my team significantly:
Typhlosion (lvl 100)-Eruption, Earthquake, Hidden Power, Flamethrower (Was going to replace him with Charizard but no)
Aerodactyl (lvl 31)-Stealth Rock, Dragon Claw, Rock Slide, Fly (Will prabably replace him with Garchomp)
Gengar (lvl 33)-Hypnosis, Shadow Ball, Confuse Ray, Psychic (Once I get Thunderbolt TM I will get rid of Confuse Ray)
Shiny Gyaradus (lvl 35)-Dragon Rage, Waterfall, Aqua Tail, Ice Fang (I hate shiny one, I want blue one )
Machamp (lvl 28-Seismic Toss, Focus Energy, Focus Punch, Revenge (I need to get Close Combat TM, does anyone knows where to get that TM in SS/HG?)
Snorlax (lvl 50)-Body Slam, Rest, Crunch, Giga Impact (Will replace Crunch with Amnesia once I find more Heart Scales)
My team is good but it has major weakness against Electric Pokemon, only Typhlosion can stand up to electric type with earthquake but earthquake is physical and typhlosion is special so fail... I need more ground type moves, perhaps replace Aerodactyl with Garchomp which electric types will not effect...
UPDATE: I have made my mind, I'm replacing my Snorlax with Blissey, Blissey is an absolute beast, SoftBoild, Seismic Toss, Auromatherapy, whatever. It has better speed then Snorlax too.... Aerodactyl is staying in my team because of Stealth Rock, and Machamp will be replaced by Garchomp which will be immune to electric attacks AND is able to learn some decent Fighting attacks like Brick Break. I still need Electric type on my team... I'll do some experiments, I'll try to replace Gyaradus with Raichu (Electravire is overused, I want to be original) and we'll see how it will work out (Fire is easy to take down anyway).

So here is my current team.

L 22 Noctowol
L 33 Garados
L 33 Machoke
L 25 Poliwhirl
L 36 Ampharos
L 40 Typhlosion

I am currently in Blackthorn City. Can anyone comment on my team and tell me which ones I should dump and which ones I should keep? I am a very new Pokemon player and would like some imput. Also, is there a certain type that I should have in my party that I currently do not? Thanks

I'd say get rid of Poliwhirl because you have 2 water types and replace him Ground type... Other then that it looks decent, but please realize there are much better flying Pokemon then Noctowl

I am currently in Blackthorn City. Can anyone comment on my team and tell me which ones I should dump and which ones I should keep? I am a very new Pokemon player and would like some imput. Also, is there a certain type that I should have in my party that I currently do not? Thanks
Unfortunately, there aren't too many flying types which stands out. Fearow is faster and has more attack than Pidgeot while Pidgeot is more bulky than Fearow.

As for water, it depends on what route you want to go. Possible sweeper or bulky water. It's either get rid of Poliwhirl and keep Gyarados or get rid of Gyarados and evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed.

If you're going for story mode you honestly can beat the game with near any Pokemon, even borderline joke stuff (hence, how I got my butterfree into the Pokemon hall of fame). So if you really like noctowl, keep him on the team.

You probably won't need a ground pokemon, but for one portion of the Kanto part of the game. So maybe switch poliwhirl out for something of a different type that you like. I suggest a grass type or something that can lay out some psychic moves (since you will need those against quite a few Elite 4 pokemon).

I just switched out Poliwhirl and Noctowl for Spearow and Geodude. Now I have to train them up. I like the Gyarados

All those grass types are good for beating the game... Pick one that looks fun.
