Default Sonic Classics Collection

Yep. Another sonic collection....maybe.

So recently a rating for Sonic Classics Collection popped up on the BBFC. The rating lists everything found on the collection which is :

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (GAME)
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 (GAME)
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 (GAME)
SONIC & KNUCKLES (GAME)
KNUCKLES IN SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 (GAME)
KNUCKLES IN SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 (GAME)
SONIC CHRONICLES – THE DARK BROTHERHOOD (VIDEO)
THE HISTORY OF SONIC (VIDEO)
SONIC ART (IMAGE GALLERY)
SONIC CLASSIC COLLECTION CREDITS
GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE

So as you can see pretty much all of Sonics Main Genesis/Megadrive outings are there. Originally it was unconfirmed which console it would be for. But then Australia also rated it and listed it for DS.
Since sega hasnt confirmed anything yet its possible this might not happen but it seems pretty likely to me.
So what do you think. Classic sonic games on the go. Sound good or not.
I think it could be good as long as they dont screw it up like Sonic The Hedgehog Genesis on GBA.
Anyway Discuss...

Seems a bit meager to me. They could easily have included lots of MS and GG games...and Sonic CD.

They ll want to rip us off with the GG games, once a DSi VC comes along.

Whats a guy gotta do to get a rerelease of Knuckles Chaotix?!? That was a MD game too, kinda (32X, but ya need a MD for it...)

Same here and I'll soon have them all again on Sonic Jam for Saturn.

I suppose its nice if you want them portable but I'll probably stick with Sonic Pocket Adventure for that.

Except those all sucked. They were just a bunch of U's on my BL. As for Sonic CD, it would take up too much space with its CD quality music (which, even then, would have to be dumbed down) and animated cutscenes...So no, Sonic CD could NOT have easily been put in.

Hmm I already own Sonic 1,2 and 3. I can't see myself buying this. But then again it's another alternative to buying Sega's bad 50hz ports on the VC.

Sure it could have. Tone down the resolution as it'd still look the same on the smaller display and voilą.
And those games weren't all bad...just quite some of them, yeah, but definitely not all. And it wouldn't hurt to have them anyway.

Sounds alright, I suppose it's the DS's turn at the Mega Drive Sonic games.
Not that many people will have to buy this though, you may already own most or all of these games on(I own the ones in bold):

PS3
/Xbox 360(Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection)
Xbox 360(Live Arcade)
Wii/Gamecube/PS2/Xbox/PC(Sonic Mega Collection)
Wii(Virtual Console)
PSP/PS2(Sega Mega Drive Collection)
GBA(Sonic The Hedgehog)BAD, REALLY BAD, DO NOT BUY IT!
Mega Drive(Originals)

There are more.
Sadly, I can't play my original copy of Sonic The Hedgehog, because I don't own a Mega Drive.

Yeah, "fanboy-ism" can suck, I'm cursed with it aswell.
I'll probably end up buying this too, just like how I buy everything to do with The Legend of Zelda known to man.

What about the CDi/Sattelevision games?

I'll pick this up when price goes down to like $10 or so.

I'm trying to own everything, I'm still buying, I don't own the CDi/Sattelevision games yet, I own most though.
I even own a rare PAL Wind Waker disc, the fully gold one that came out in the US, but not here, I found a rare PAL one, I'm guessing it shipped sometime at Wind Waker's release.

Yeah, I would add this to my Sonic Collection as well, but know higher than $10.

Not doubting your devotion (/OCD), because noone would be able to get those without paying a lot of money (or at least the Satteleview remake)

PS Excited for Spirit Tracks?

Yes, it is an OCD, I will own all of the Zelda games, and store them in some kind if glass display... and play them all.
You don't know how hard it was to get Zelda Collectors Edition, it's about $120(US$109/UK£66) in Australia, I had to buy it from England for $50(US$45/UK£27).

Yes, I am looking forward to Spirit Tracks, thanks for asking.
I'm actually going to buy a DSi, just so I can have the best DS experience playing it.
I would like Nintendo to release a proper 3D(N64 like) Zelda for the DS though, even an Ocarina Of Time/Majora's Mask remake would be great.

Anyone else finding the first screenshot strange. Sonic & Knuckles in the same level at the same time? Could this be a new feature? If so then thats pretty cool. Also its odd they never mentioned lock on. I wonder if it will be included. Hopefully it will since it was rated. They cant dissapoint us again like they did with Ultimate Collection on 360 & PS3.

I doubt it, its either just mocked to "look cool" or a glitch (Which can't be a good thing after Sonic Genesis GBA)

My guess is you have to unlock the lock on games like in Mega Collection, the BBFC rated the lock on games, so they should be in there.

i dont think there is a new coop feature or anything, as i would think they would be shouting it from the rooftops to sell the game. but its possible.

in the first screen, the person is playing as knuckles, you can see the portrait for how many lives he has. sonic and knuckles meet up during the cutscenes, so that might be where the screen came from.

although maybe they did make a sonic/knuckles team a selectable option. it seems to be sonic 3, and you could pick a team in sonic 3. i remember wanting a s+k team when it came out. so maybe they added it, maybe an unlockable feature?

also, the lock on games are confirmed as unlockables.

i will be getting this game for sure, unless i read about some fatal flaw between now and then. it seems to be the ultimate original trilogy (+2)

lol but i mean, im not paying that much for it. i can wait . . .

Well I have Mega Collection, yet haven't beaten any of the games (actually I finished 3D Blast...), the portability would be nice, as would save states.

I'll definitely not buy it.

I hope they're included too.

The screenshot does look weird, moreso though Sonic is just standing there... thats at a time when the screen is scrolling fast and you have to run to keep up, so it doesnt look like AI controlled sonic, the only way it could be done is if someone ran ahead and just stopped, just before the screen caught up. But it's a really weird screenshot.

I've always wanted to be able to play these on the go, recently played through the XBLA version of Sonic 3 & knuckles.

I hope these let you play properly from the title screen so you can use cheats etc. I dislike the XBLA versions menus.

Yeah thats why I found it weird too. Its taken during the first boss of sonic and knuckles. It is also odd that nothing is shown for Sonic anywhere (Lives counter for example) so perhaps it is a weird glitch.

And im hoping it doesnt turn out like the XBLA versions either. Removing the in game save system was a huge mistake.

The BBFC have rated the lock on games for the collection, and since rating stuff with them can cost a bit of money, I doubt Sega would blow money on getting things rated that won't be in the final product...

my source is the same link with the screenshots. scroll down to the bottom, the author of the article confirms the lock on games as bonus unlockables. so go ask him his source if ya want ....

plus the rating thing, i dont see why they would waste time/money/effort in rating them for no reason .... or why they would release this collection without them .... but people dont always make sense. so i guess it could happen ....

YES!!! It's real, after all! Finally, I can play Sonic 3 on DS... a little less than a year from now. I can't wait! The only thing that can make it any better is if S3&K does, indeed, make it into the collection as well.

Huh, that's bizarre. It would be pretty unprofessional for Sega to have taken a screenshot with such an obvious glitch in it, so perhaps it really is a new team feature. If so, that's a nice little addition.

Sega is a very unprofessional company (recently).

There's no real valid reason for me buying this other than to add to my collection. This is a fairly good release for a DS game but it's a missed opportunity not to put some handheld games on it, especially Sonic Pocket Adventure.

You can't expect anything close to perfect Mega Drive emulation on a GBA, DS should be a different story.

So now it's out I've been hearing the emulation on this is pretty lacklustre. Not as bad as Sonic 1 GBA by any means but there is framerate slowdown and the games seem "choppy" or "jerky"

I might pick it up when i see it cheap. £20 is too much for the same 4 games I've probably owned on 8 different systems but this time in an inferior state, means I'm not ready to plonk down cash for it yet.
