Exclamation random photo on homescreen = annoying

One gripe that I'm already aware of with the DSi is the fact it randomly selects a photo to display on the top screen every time the system is loaded. To me I find it annoying as I took some snapshots of my friend making making some goofy faces that are kind of annoying to stare at every time I boot my DS. There should really be an option to set a specific photo as wallpaper rather than have it selected at random

Also, what a person does with their own system is their own business - for example, on my Wii console, I have a few objectionable pictures on my SD card (mostly fanart of Princess Peach). I'm an adult, so I can basically do whatever I want to with my console, right? I can just imagine what a person would say if they suddenly opened somebody's DSi and saw a picture of *****!

My DSi top screen isn't displaying a picture... I deleted all the pics from my album because they were horrible. The problem is... now that I've taken new pics, they're not displaying up there! Don't quite know how to fix this.

One thing I've noticed is that it only sets original photos on the top screen that I have taken with the camera - I edited a couple of photos and resaved them, and it only displays the original versions, not the altered ones. I also haven't tried loading anything off an SD card yet, so I'm not sure if it also displays those or not.

Additionally, my friend is Ethiopian, and the DS did not recognize his facial features in any of the photos I took. If the face recognition algorithm only works on fair-skinned people, then I would consider that a huge design flaw. It seems to me like both the photo and audio manipulation features are a mixed bag of advanced effects - being somebody that is fairly well adapted to programs like Photoshop and Audacity, I find the inability to tweak the effects as somewhat annoying.

Not even a week old, and we've already got a demand feature for a future Firmware update. lol. XD

Thinking of taking a pic of the logo on my Captain Charisma shirt for the top screen sometime. ^^

Oh dear, that could lead to some rather unfavourable headlines.
However they remembered to include at least one token black girl in their DS utopia:

So you would presume it does recognise different ethnicities

I noticed this after playing with my DSi a lot, so I dunno if it's also true for others. But photos I marked with a "Star" is shown on the top screen, while photos I marked as "Clovers" don't show up on the top screen at all. I haven't labelled any pictures with "Hearts" yet, so I dunno if that shows up or not.

But yeah, if you want certain images to appear on your top screen, just mark them with a "Star".

I was just about to post this enig. I figured it out when trying to get my display pics working again. If something's not marked with a sticker, it won't show up. Stars will show up on the top screen. I don't know what the other stickers do, if anything.

Figured this out a long time ago. =P There's a manual, after all.

The other stickers along with the star sticker are there for you to organize your photos into groups if you so choose. No more, no less.

I can't read the manual yet for reasons that shall remain secret.

You lost the DSi box and documentation

LOL, whatever. Yeah, I'll have to toy around with those icons, thanks for the tip-off. I'll just turn off all the stars except for the original snap I took of my face, and see if that solves it.

I set all of my photos to clover, and nothing showed up at all. Then I changed my mugshot back to star and now that's the only photo that displays on the home screen.

So now like, if somebody other than myself turns on my DS, they'll get my ugly mug staring back at them, as if to say, "hands off fella - this is MY DS!!!" LOL
