We've had stray threads here and there about various Pokémon games before, but this thread is intended to be your one stop shop for all things Pokémon.

According to http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/946308/55304 (ctrl + F "OBTAINING THE NATIONAL POKEDEX"):

In order to get the National Pokedex, you must have beaten the Elite 4 and seen all 210 of the Pokemon in the Sinnoh Pokedex. [...] If every NPC trainer in the game is battled prior to the Elite 4 and all story events are completed, these two requirements should occur at the exact same time. Upon the restart, you can proceed immediately to Rowan's lab in Sandgem Town and get the National upgrade plus the Pokeradar.

Note, this is different from Diamond/Pearl, where the only requirement was completing the Sinnohdex.

I dont own any of the current gen pokemon games. I kinda went off pokemon after Gold/Silver/Crystal. I had Ruby and thats pretty much what made me go off the series. Just didnt like it really. Ive been playing Gold for a bit lately though and im enjoying it. So im kind of considering getting one of the New Gen pokemons.

If I do decide to get one of them though which one do you guys recommend (Diamond, Pearl or Platinum)?

I recommend you getting Platinum since it is a enhanced remake that has tons of features that are not in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl including: Distortion World, Battle Fontier, remade Pokemon Gyms, and others.

Definitely get Platinum. As Versus said, it's not really a "new" game, but an enhancement of Diamond and Pearl. Essentially, they took both of those games and made them better in one game.

Wow, you really must like that game. I was pondering of giving Platinum a try. I had Diamond for a wee while when I picked it up for next to nothing, but I never gave it enough time to fully enjoy it, so I ended up trading it in. Dunno.

i have Diamond and am still debating if i should get Platinum the reason i mostly want it is for the battle frontier i loved that in emerald but idk if i want to waste my money since i put 80 so hours into diamond

80 isn't much in Pokémon games. I got 280 in Diamond and I've preordered Platinum.

Well i hated the Sucky Save System with the battle frontier in Emrald .
Forcing you to reset after a save & losing your frontier status from the save file .
It seems that the devolopers wanted everyone to lose .
They should allow you to save & continue on after every winning battle just like the in the regular journey where you are allowd to save after every winning battle & for me i allways do .

Yep, it's 2nd on my list of all time favourite games. I've put 851 hours in this game so far and I still need to complete it.

You can get the Rotom Key thingy on Mystery Gift today.

If you don't have Mystery Gift, you can get it by going to the TV Station in Jubilife City. Once you get to the TV Station, head to the third floor and talk to the brown haired guy in the room with the orange floor. He'll ask you what your opinion is on TV, in which you should choose the words 'Everyone' and 'Happy' in that order. Next he'll ask for feedback, in which you should choose the words 'Wi-Fi' and 'Connection' in that order. He'll then say something about getting you Mystery Gift, in which you should save and go to the start up menu. Select Mystery Gift, then select get gift from Wi-Fi, and you should be able to get the key.

Yep, but I probably spend more time in breeding (to get 25+ IV's) and shiny hunting. I caught 32 shinies last year and I might try it again this year to get some more.

Hm, maybe. Depends on if I can configure my team until then.

And I'm not very good with that radar when hunting shinies. And I'm happy as long as the important stats have IVs of 25 or something.

My Pokémon Ruby has 420 or so hours.

30 days spread over 11 months. I didn't a buy a single game in that period and only played that game. I also didn't have any school in that year, so it isn't that bad really.

@Trapster: That battle ain't going to happen. I keep getting 81010 errors whenever I try to trade/battle. I was holding a contest 2 days ago and I got 4 winners out of it. I promised all of them a shiny, but I couldn't connect with any of them. They were pretty disappointed/mad...

Google for that error. It might be something with a firewall/your router or whatever.

I didn't say it was bad, just extremely devoted. It makes sense that you spent all of your gaming time on that one! I'm sure I'd spend 30 days over 11 months total gaming time between all my games.

If that Starly has a great nickname (not a silly one), 25+ IV's in all stats (except SP. Attack), and an Adamant or Jolly nature, then I might consider it.

@Trapster: I had already tried some things with my Firewall, but It's no use. Wifi seems to work for all my other games, though.

I have an Adamant Staraptor, but it's EV's probably aren't special since it was wild, I don't remember it's name...
