Smile Downloaded games

Hello, I am new at this stuff and have a stupid question to ask the experts.

When we download the game to the Wii can we play it without being connected to the internet. I guess what I am saying is once it is saved can you play it at anytime?

How much memory do the games take? I bought a 2gb card do I need to buy more, We will be downloading a quite a few. Will the memory card act as the disk?

Thanks for helping.

Yep. Once you've downloaded it, the game file exists on your Wii's system memory. You don't need to be connected to the internet to play it.

Different virtual console games are different sizes; when you're on the Wii Shop channel it'll tell you how big each game is, how much space it'll take up on your Wii memory, how much you have left, etc. You can usually download twenty games or more without filling your Wii up, though it depends on their sizes. People do reach the storage limit from time to time. Yes, you can use your memory card to store games if you want. If you do happen to fill up your Wii's memory with VC games, you can always delete some games to free up space and then later download those same games again for free, though of course you'll lose any save files you had for those games.

Once it's saved you have it forever so you don't need to be connected to the internet.

2GB of space will be more than enough for most people. The Wii has 0.5GB of built in memory, all the games you play have to be stored on the Wii. You can transfer games you won't play for a while onto your SD card for storage when you run out, but you have to transfer them back to the Wii to play. You can fit quite a few games on the built in memory so you won't have to even think about it for a while, I haven't even filled mine up.

Looks like I've answered your question twice, darthmix beat me to it.

THANK YOU to both of you. I made the kids get rid of the SNES and PS one but they want their favorite games and they are available for download just needed to be sure. THANK YOU AGAIN.

We will not be able to keep the Wii connected to the internet just occassionally and we also have a vacation home (cabin) that doesn't have internet so I need to figure all this out.

The games are compressed when put onto the card. Because I can only fit my 20 biggest games on my shop without any others. I have all 127 on my 1GB card and I still have over 3000 blocks left. Well over 3000 left.

So did you buy them a PS3 and are you Japanese? Because the amount of PS1 titles that the EU PSN has is crap. However the Japanese have 60-ish. We have 20. And most are poor.
