Default How to download your old carts??

Hey I know this issue is senstive and I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT DOWNLOADING ROMS FROM WEBSITES!

I wanted to know if its possible to buy some sort of machine or whatever where I can hook up to my original consoles/games to "copy" to my computer or whatever without downloading illegal ROMs.

The reason for this is because I am an collector and I WISH TO PRESERVE MY COLLECTION!!!

if this subject isnt allowed please lock this thread (and please dont ban me please) and I will never speak of this again...

I am basically asking if theres an "VCR" for the NES/SNES I actually remember there was alot of problems concerning the VCR's ability to record tv shows and movies (with 2 vcrs) If that type of machine is absoutely Illegal dont bother telling me about it!

If theres no other option I'm pretty content with playing the original carts but I feel it should belong in a museum...

I don't think this in any way shape or form breaks any forum rules.

I see where you're coming from, as I'm the same. I'm not much of a collecter, but I wish there was a way to transfer them over to other formats. I'd love to be able to play my ZAMN on my PSP

Ok great! BTW there are ways to play ZAMN on psp but hence its one of the "unforgivable curses" methods.

I know. I was gonna get one, because as I own the original, I think it's legal. But I've heard they brick PSP's too easily.

There are ways, just do a google search, but you will have to get a seperate reader for SNES and NES as they dont use the same format or pin outs

It is legal yeah, like if you own a DVD and put it on some other device, it's just known as 'backing-up'

Not in all countries. Here you can't copy a dvd onto anything. You can rip audio cds for your mp3 player but not dvds unto your mp4 player.

Generally speaking with game images in MOST countries it is legal to back up games onto another medium for storage/use.

I assume it is possible, I mean, How do you think ROMs are made?

For instance this thing:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_V64

Apparently allowed you to make backups for the N64 games you already owned. I remembered reading an article about It on a retro site a few months ago, but because I don't know anything about it.
