Default do you all have marching bands in europe?

just curious. i know since it originated around american football it wouldn't make much sense. but it could have spread for some reason.

and yes it's a sport, at least at schools like mine.

I don't really know what it is so I'm guessing not. Unless we have a different name for it as is often the case.

Yes we have marching bands. They actually originated around the military - we used to get the marching band of the Metropolitan Police entertaining us at half time at Arsenal matches when I was a kid and of course there was the RAF Band entertaining us all when we passed out from RAF Basic Training. Some regimental marching bands in the army have been around for over 200 years, apparently.

There...bored you all to tears with my knowledge of the military. My work here is done.

Yeah, we have marching bands. You see a lot of scout and guide group bands at Bonfire Night celebrations, for example, and as RMA says, the military and police have a tradition too.

They're not hugely common in schools though. Every school I've been to has had an orchestra and/or band, but they've never been ambulatory.
