Hi! I just got a Datel lan adapter and it doesn't work. Here's some info:
1. I live in the dorms and we don't have wireless. It's ethernet hookup. There is no router at our place. It's comes off a wall unit (if that makes sense) and we connect our ethernet cable from that wall unit into our computer and wii. 2. I had to register my computer with the school network in order to get internet on my computer. I provided a mac address and the internet was working the same day. 3. I guess I had to do the same thing for my wii so I was able to find the mac address. After some research, I realized that I actually need the mac address for the lan adapter. However, it's all grey in that box with a bunch of 0's. What do I need to do to get my Wii hooked up to the internet via wire ethernet? Please help! Thank! |

You need a connection that dont filter you out.
Or try this: How to configure Internet Connection Sharing in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306126

Hmm...Is there an easier way? I men I'm assuming this update is done on the computer and I'm still not sure how that's supposed to transfer to my wii.
I thought it would be simple as plug and play. |

If you have to supply an ID to be granted the access, which you can have just once connected, you look pretty screwed. For first you could tell us which firmware version do you have. Wii Options > Wii Settings It's in the upper right corner. Another way to update your system offline is running a recent enough Nintendo game. Not all games have an update bundle, but if the game can update your system (which means: the game disc has a newer version bundled to it), you will be noticed about it. If you're in a school and other people are using consoles online you can ask them a hand. If you can hook a console to the Internet where you are, there are others people who already done it. |

I checked and it says that I have v. 3.3U.
Is that the latest? I'm guessing it is because I did update the system when I had wireless at my old apartment. I just moved and the apartment is ethernet through the university. Why does it have to be so complicated to get the Wii on the internet? |

It doesn't, as long as you're not in a dorm with sh**ly network regs.

Hmm did they reintroduce the anti lan bug with the 3.3 patch?
I only had it in 3.0 and havent updated to it(3.3). Before and after 3.0 my MAC does show up.
