Post Civilization Revolution on hold for Wii (Joystiq)

Civilization's multi-platform console reboot known as Civilization Revolution has had its Wii version put on hold. GI.biz diplomatically states 2K Games is focusing on the "next-generation" versions for the Xbox 360 and PS3, with the DS version apparently still on track as well. All three versions are expected sometime this spring.

The last time it popped up on radar, Civilization Wii-volution was expected later than the other console versions, only due to arrive sometime in Fall '08.

Noooooooo! The Civilization series are easily my favourite games of all time - I was really looking forward to playing a Wii version...

Hopefully it's just postponed and not canned.

Well, I've yet to see a release of any game that has been "put on hold indefinitely." I wouldn't get my hopes up. Too bad, though.

On the bright side, I won't hesitate to snatch up the DS version, since it's supposed to be exactly the same as its console counterparts... just in 2D. (for the better, in my opinion) Online play included.

Well, that's good news. I remember when Civ 1 came out on the N-Gage (anyone remember that?) and I was supremely jealous.

Not enough to actually buy one of the stupid things, though...

If anything even remotely Civ-related comes out on anything I own, I'm buying it. I think I've already bought Civ II twice (PC/PS1), Civ III twice (I went to Canada for a year, and left it in the UK) and Civ IV twice (I bought the Civ box set).

And when I finally buy my Mac, I'll be getting Civ IV for a third time.
