I don't think that any game I've ever played has come as close in terms of making me think, not just about the devious and delicious puzzles at the core of it but also about its commentary on game design in general as well as the mysteries of its allegorical multi-layered plot. It also achieved a uinque feat for me in being an utterly fantastic game that left me entirely satisfied upon completion and not desiring a sequel of any sort.

| I'm going to use my highest rated titles on Backloggery to start my nominations. Nostalgia plays a big influence on my top rated titles, so I'll get together a list soon. |

| Age: 20 Region: UK/Europe This is part of my 100 list (in no order). Those games were chosen for the amount of enjoyment they have given me over the years. | Do you like my helmet? | 100. Cave Story (PC/WW) — Yep, I only just started this, but it already plays like a dream and has great production values on WiiWare. It gets talked about a lot, so I figure it's worth a nomination to see how well it fares when the votes come. Hopefully I'll have played a lot more by then. |

| 1 Cave Story (PC)- An amazing Metroidvania with some really awesome gameplay that is reminiscent of classic franchises like Metal Slug and at the same time unique with its floaty physics and other stuff. I'm sure the WiiWare version will be great, but I wish that the developers would have stuck to their original price point of 500-1000 Wii points (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/st...ve-story/41460). |

| 2 Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney (DS)- Wow, I haven't really gotten into the text based adventure genre, but this game is amazing. I really like the anime styled character designs, and the story is both dramatic and hilarious. 3 Phoenix Wright Trials & Tribulations (DS)- Fantastic game that puts the trilogy to rest. An even better story than the first game, and some interesting plot points help round out the best game in the Phoenix Wright trilogy. PS Ghost Trick (future DS game) is made by the same dude who made the original Phoenix Wright trilogy. It'd probably be on my list if nomination didn't end in March. |

10. Cannon Fodder (Amiga) Not just a fine game in its own right but probably the first videogame to attempt (and pull off spectacularly) social commentary. The genius idea of individually naming each soldier that trudged over the hill to join your army and the subsequent agony of losing your favourite guy in some senseless and usually random death perfectly epitomised the senseless futility of war. The little crosses on the hill slowly mounting, the football style Home and Away scores, the intro song...all are touches of genius. Videogame satire doesn't come any more cutting than this. As usual the media completely, or perhaps deliberately, missed the point...

4 Metal Slug- Wow, is this an amazing run 'n' gun. I really love the art style, and the fast, fluid, and just plain fun gameplay makes this "Contra clone" much better than the game that inspired it. 5 Metal Slug X- The sequel to the first, but improved, Metal Slug X is really the best the classic Metal Slug formula has to offer. They just improved the wackiness level, and it's all the more fun because of it. 6 Metal Slug 3- Quite changed from the first 2, what with its branching paths, more aliens, and that 1 hour long final level. There's just so much variety in Metal Slug 3 that you'll never get bored. | |

| Do you like my helmet? | No new nominations for a week. Get working on those lists, folks. I'm tallying the results as we go to get ready for the next round. I've asked DivineOmega to treat us to a nice surprise for the voting rounds. I'm heading home for the long weekend tomorrow night, so I'll get this posted on my other corners of the web during that time. |

| Casual gamer since 1978 | Uh, alright I'm posting this just because yesterday we talked about it and said I'd agree with the initiative. Though, I read again the intentions and no, I'm not into this. I simply don't like "Best of" lists. And the more generic they are, the more uncomfortable I feel while reading the final results. I'm out of here, have fun.
