Default Best Easy SHMUP?

While there are many great shooters on the VC currently with great reviews, I'm not so sure if they are exactly for me. I mean, while I am a pretty avid gamer, I'm not the most skilled and so most shooters are too difficult and frustrating for me. As you guys (usually) know what you're talking about, could any of you recommend good, easy shooters? (something easier than say, Gradius?)

Easier than Gradius? Pretty much any shooter on the VC is easier than Gradius. ^^
But I'recommend getting Air Zonk if you are looking for an easy shooter. You surely won't have a hard time with it and it's pretty neat gameplay-wise although I don't think it's as great as people tend to pretend it is.

Air Zonk should be a good game to get, you don't have to go back to the previous check-point after every hit which makes things a lot less frustrating. Very good game as well, the graphical style and the soundtrack is especially good. I wouldn't call any good shooter easy but this is deffinitely easier to get into than most shooters. You'll soon get more skilled if you start with easier games like Air Zonk and work your way up.

Fantasy Zone is fairly easy by the standards of the genre. Still not easy easy, mind.

I agree with Fantasy Zone and Air Zonk, but I'd wait for Super Fantasy Zone and avoid paying the extra for Super Air Zonk.

I personaly I found Lords of Thunder to be pretty easy and even if you're not great at the game you can still go to all but 1 level because there is a level select.

I'm not a fan of shmups I must admit, but I loved playing Hellfire, but after the first level, it got hard! AND I MEAN GRADIUS HARD! (Never played Gradius though?)

Erm....I heard Fantasy Zone is eaay! (Wait....I really need to re-read more :P)

Try Star Wing, I played it and it seems easy enough (I am no avid shmup player either)
