Out now? I think the best game is "The World Ends With You". Such a nice change to the normal rpg ones I usually play!

Megaman Starforce was pretty good too...

There's recently been a thread of game recommendations, "Can anyone recommend something really awesome?" that should help.

There's sort of a problem. Some of the best DS games aren't out anymore. Like Kirby's Cancas Curse and WarioWare: Touched. You can still find them used, but they are very hard to find since they were some of the first games on the system and, being so good, hardly anyone parts with them to stores like GameStop or EB Games, etc.

And then you have import games, which you can't go and just buy at a store either. But are some of thebest on the system. Like Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! 1 and 2 or Space Invaders Extreme or various RPGs and platformers.

As for my opinion of what are the best games of what you could actually go to the store and just pick up and play, Id have to say this:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker
Pokemon Daimond/Pearl
Kirby's Squeak Squad
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
New Super Mario Bros
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Of the ones I own.

There's a lot of other games and a TN of other genres and stuff. There's also the Phoenix Wright series and Advance Wars and Contra and Front Mission and a whole heck of a lot of popular titles I have yet to even try but people rave about.

Of the games I've played, I think the absolute best are:
  • Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (platformer/action-adv)
  • Kirby: Canvas Curse (platformer)
  • Puzzle Series Vol. 5: Slither Link (puzzler, JP import)
  • Professor Layton and the Curious Village (point-and-click, puzzler hybrid)
Other good games, depending on taste, include:
  • Bust-A-Move DS (puzzler)
  • Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (action-adv, rpgish)
  • Kirby Squeak Squad (platformer)
  • Meteos (puzzler)
  • Picross DS (puzzler)
  • Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time (rpg: roguelike)
  • Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords (puzzler, rpg hybrid)
  • Sonic Rush (platformer)
  • Super Princess Peach (platformer)

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is IMO the best and most unique DS title out.
