imo the playstation controller instant classic. feels great in your hand and later incorporated the analog sticks well.

When the PS was out, I thought the original digital controller was the best controller ever by some distance.

Generally I think the gamecube one was almost perfect, but the d-pad is one of the worst in history, and that really annoyed me.

OK, got clearer ideas now, the best controller ever is the Classic Controller for the Wii.

I voted the X-Box one, meaning the 360 one.
The first one was just terrible, Controller S had the Start/Back buttons on the wrong place. But the 360 one is just perfect, Black/White is replaced by shoulderbuttons and Start/Select is on the right place, probably the best one so far.

The reason I didn't pick the PS one was that it's Left Analogue stick is placed all wrong, I want it where the D-Pad is. The Classic Controller have the same issue.

wii classic controller, I really wish that you could play gamecube games with the classic controller, oh and by the way, I think that the ps2 controller is terrible! very bad analouge sticks.

Wiimote + plug-ins. It's much more versatile than most other controllers.

Back in the days I swore by the SNES controller, great d-pad and positioning of buttons which were perfect for that generations games.

Now my vote would have to go to the classic controller. Old skool goodness.

I do really like the 360 controller, as a traditional style controller it is almost perfect except for the d-pad, but that's ok, games are mostly analogue.

The sixaxis controller for the PS3 however is horrible. It feels light and flimsy, the d-pad is the same rubbish that PS1 and PS2 had, it's really time Sony embraced analogue sticks and moved them to be like the 360. The worst bit about it is the L1,L2 and R1,R2 buttons. I was playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma at a mates the other day and got serious handcramp! Horrible!

I would have gone for SNES, but the PS1 pad improved on it. I'm very fond of the Wiimote plus Nunchuk combo though. Worst controller ever has to be the first X-Box one, which was absurdly large and had absolutely no ergonomic styling whatsoever!
