Default Battle Lode Runner Review

The Facts:

5-player multiplayer
Original version only released in Japan

Battle lode runner is a puzzle game, but not like you may think. If you make plans of what you are going to do before you start you will have a better chance of winning, coz if you forget to dig in the right place, then you will find yourself trapped before you know it. Your runner’s ability is to dig holes, this will help you trick the enemies such as dinosaurs. If a baddie falls in a hole, then he is trapped and he can not harm you until he climbs out. Get touched by a baddie and you will have to start the level again. So how do you win a level anyway? Simple, get all the gold and then you will see a message saying GET OUT! Now all you have to do is climb up the new ladder and get out of the level.
One of the biggest downfalls of this game is that it is extremely frustrating, it's one of those games where you get trapped every 2 minutes but the good thing about that is that completing a level is always very exciting, and you will likely be going crazy shouting "Yes!!! I completed the level!!!! It was so hard!!!" or something like that. Level Editing isn't too hard, in fact, it is very basic, and it's a nice little extra feature. You can also save your levels, game progress and stuff like that, so if you reset the game, your levels and game progress will still be saved. The game also has multiplayer, which can be played with up to five players, It's nowhere near as fun as Bomberman, but is still quite enjoyable, and it can be played alone, and has lots of different modes, and yes you can make your own multiplayer levels with level edit. Graphics are nothing special but aren’t terrible, just basic but there is good music that fits in with the levels well, like the China level.

Overall, Battle Lode Runner is a bit like a mix of Adventures of Lolo and Bomberman, and IS a fun game, but probably not for everyone as the difficulty is a real pain, but is good for a challenge.

Overall Score: 8.1/10.0
