Default Bad Ports?

It seems like alot the NES games on the VC have alot of texture flickering. Mainly Super Mario Bros 3 (on moving platforms) and Castlevania 1&2 (enemies seem to flicker alot), these are the ones Ive noticed the most.

I dont remember these have this flickering back when I played them on the original NES...but then again I probably wasnt the graphics ***** I am now back when I was 8.

There's a ton of sprite flicker and slow down when too much is going on on the original NES hardware. It's definitely there. Every VC game I've played has all the slow down and other graphical anomalies exactly where I remember them.

Like hippiecrite said, the NES was pretty notorious back in day for turning into a flicker/slowdown fest when there was too many sprites on the screen. The early SNES games suffered from this also.

Try Super Castlevania IV. Tons of slow down on the second half of Level 4.

The answer to your question is in one of the SMB3 threads. I can't remember too much, but I think it was because, back then we diddn't have these high tech TV's and stuff so the NES always had that border, because it never used that part of the screen.

FYI: Worst game for flicker was Super Dodgeball for NES. wow.

Do you guys think they could fix the emulation to correct the flickering or was that a part of the programming or hardware restrictions?

Yeah, it has nothing to do with the emulation. Nothing is "broken". The same stuff happens on the original hardware.
