Zelda Master Quest VS Zelda Collectors Edition

I think Master Quest is better because you cant download Master Quest into Wii "sigh" but all the games in Collectors Edition you can DOWNLOAD!!! to your Wii. Yes Majora's Mask will be out for "Wii" soon. :D YAY!!!

Collector's Edition is better of course. It has four different Zelda games, a demo of Wind Waker and some trailers, a nice box and it's rare!

Ocarina of Time + Master Quest is a disappointment. It could be one game. Master Quest is just the same with just a few items and enemies in other places and absolutely nothing else. This is best compared to Zelda 1 when you've beaten Ganon and playing through the 2nd time with some minor changes. Master Quest is just OoT, 2nd time, with minor changes. A bit harder but nothing else. This version could fit into Ocarina of Time if Nintendo wanted it. Nevertheless I had fun with it, because I wanted to play Ocarina of Time again but wanted it to be a bit different.

If Master Quest comes out for VC, good for you guys.
But I wouldn't spent 1000 Wii Points on it, when I already have OoT.
Majora's Mask is a different story. This is a must have for 1000 Wii Points.

Master Quest in Europe was planned to be given away with the first copies of WindWaker, but it turned out that A LOT of copies have been packaged that way.

So, Master Quest was not so much rare, probably today it is, but that's surely nothing compared to the rarity of the Collector's Disc.

The only way I know was buying it with the Stars of Nintendo VIP accounts.
Exactly what I did.
Considering the stars to be virtual money, it was free.

So it's different comparing their (price) value nowadays.
For "gaming" value...well, it's more a personal preference, it depends on what this discussion is about....you started with "I think Master Quest is better", while your last post seem to focus on which games you NEED and WANT and the money you have to spend....

I have the Collector's Disc and I'm happy with it because it helped completing my collection of Zeldas (well, at least the major titles...).

We can't really complain about the Master Quest version to be honest. I mean, it was free. XD

Collectors' Edition was available in 5 different ways in Europe.

1) Bundled with a GameCube.
2) Earned for free if you registered 2 games out of Mario Party 5, Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and 1080 Avalanche on the NoE site before 10-ish December 2003 (Only applicable for countries with a registry system). I got it this way.
3) Was available in the Stars Catalogue for a very long time after the above offer.
4) Given for free with subscriptions to certain Nintendo magazines for a while.
5) Some shops just sold it loose.

In America it was available by registering 2 out of 5 certain games (Don't know which except Double Dash!! was one of them) on the NoA site (I think?) or getting a Nintendo Power subscription.

Collectors' Edition is much better. MQ and OoT are basically the same game, and though I do like MQ more than OoT, there's barely anything different besides the solutions to dungeons. C'sE on the other hand is 4 games in one plus a demo and the somewhat neat Retrospective.

No its not worth anything.:( CE costs to munch for no reason :mad:and you cant use a classic controller, you cant load the HOME menu and you have to Shut Down your Wii to play another game. Same as MQ but MQ has a OOT you "CANT DOWNLOAD" on the Wii.:confused:

Depends. For me the VC OOT is the worst. (bugs, texture exchanges, no rumble)
I like the original experience, so I would go at least for one of the Gamecube collections.

If you want

1. The Legend of Zelda
2. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
3. Ocarina of Time (...again)
4. Majora's Mask
+ The Wind Waker Demo
+ Various Gamecube/GBA Trailers
+ A "Legend of Zelda Theme"-Remix (in the Game select menu)

then try to get the Collector's Edition. It's that easy.

Pro Gamecube:

+ It's rare, so the price for this get higher.
+ It's 2 legends on one disc (Zelda 1+2 saga and the OoT+Majora saga)
+ The graphics have better resolution (just like on VC)
+ Has the needed Rumble effects (unlike the VC version)
+ Saves Wii memory for other great games

The only Zelda to buy on VC in my opinion is Zelda II (NES), because there you can save anytime. A very handy Wii function especially for this game.

I have both disks so it doesn't matter to me, I can't remember how I got masters quest but I remember paying $40 for the collectors edition disk. Guy at work bought a cube and didn't like zelda so he asked me if I wanted it and I said sure. $40 bucks later and it was mine.

I own both, if I could only own one then I would have Master Quest. You can get all four Collector's edition games individually quite cheaply/easily, but Master Quest the only way of playing (in English) it is on the Master Quest disc. Nintendo may or may not release it on virtual console, but in case they don't it's good to have the Master Quest on GC.

You need both, you can't have one with out the other if your a true Zelda collector. If I had to choose, it would be Collectors Edition because you get more games. Master Quest is pretty good though.

A year ago I traded in my copy of "Master Quest" to a game store for credit. I did OK cause I only paid $15 for it used, and traded it in for about the same and I didn't need it cause I got a copy of "Collectors Edition" by subscribing to Nintendo Power (I didn't really want the magazine, but it was only $20 for a subscription + the free Collectors Edition Zelda).

Anyways the crying part is somehow I switched up the discs and it was the collector's edition disc in the Master Quest case I traded in.

I have both OOT/MQ and Collectors edition discs so I'm all settled.
Personally I think you're better getting any game availble on Cube and VC.... on the Cube. Given the Wii's poor storage problems. Plus it's got resale value. Downloaded Zelda games only have resale value if you sell your wii and even then it won't be much.
Also no-one knows when Majoras mask will be out theres still tonnes of games to come out yet and as it used the Expansion pack this could bring up problems (who knows?) so it'd be better to have a guranteed copy now rather than waiting months for it.

Personally I think you're better getting any game availble on Cube and VC.... on the Cube.

I'd say you're better off getting games available on the N64 and the Cube... on the N64. This only really applies to MM, since OoT can come with Master Quest, which is something extra. But the N64 version of MM has the same resale value with none of the emulation problems.

I've never had any troubles with the Collectors edition.
Collectors edition does have slightly upgraded visuals and runs faster (I know this is quite significant as me and my cousin both played MM on Cube and N64 on 2 tvs at same time and I finished a fair while before him when we did almost everything the same.)
Also not everyone has an N64 plus it saves having another console under the TV.
Also it's personal preference but I muchly prefer the Gamecube pad when playing N64 games.
