The GBA version is much better. I wouldn't really consider getting the NES version of this one.

Anybody remember Bionic Commando? That's a game I'd like to see. Also, of course SMB2 and 3 would be awesome. (What would really be nice would be to see All-Stars for the SNES, but I doubt they'll do that when they can get more money releasing the individual games )

ok here's the deal i want the ninty fairy to bring us

heroquest,
north and south.

they were the reasons why I bought a nintendo in the first place

(even though i had a megadrive and wished they would make appearences on that system)

it was because my amiga adaptar blew... sooo.. if i dont see these two very special games (in my mind) on the nes ill prob look forward to them coming to the amiga vc instead.

(dont get me wrong i loved most of the other nes games  )

YEAH!
As Zombies Ate My Neighbours have been someway announced, we can hope for that, too.

When C=64 news leaked out, I immediately thought of MM in this form rather than the NES version.
But if we can't have the "breadbox" emulated, I'm definetly looking forward for this game on the NES.

Geez, there are so many I would like to see, but the tops would be Super Mario 2, Marble Madness, Tecmo Super Bowl, and quite possibly the best baseball game ever made - Baseball Simulator 1.000. 6 different stadiums, create your own teams (with a TON of detail for the time), current stats during "season" mode, "ultra" teams with crazy super powers, that game had EVERYTHING! I just hope that they can somehow fix the game's only flaw - the painfully slow simulations between two computer teams when playing a season.

Earthbound for Europe!

Except that it was a SNES game...

I'd love to try out the Earthbound series. It was originally supposed to be coming to the GBA here as I remember, but it never ended up getting a release...

And that wasn't Earthbound, which is Mother 2 in Japan, but rather Mother 3, the sequel, which came out on the GBA. To make things more complicated, the original Mother 3 was on the 64DD, and though supposedly certified gold (i.e. ready to ship), was never relased. People have been on the lookout for development disks ever since. There is a set of 3 DD dev disks labelled M3 in someone's possession, but since the 64DD dev hardware hasn't ever been sold on the black market (unlike every other dev system ever), no one can verify... Ah well...

SKTTR
9th July 2007, 07:57 AM
Mendez is right, yeah.

An Earthbound-Remake for GBA was in the works but it turned out to be Mother 1+2 that is already released on GBA (as well as Mother 3) but only in Japan. Nintendo sucks me balls in this case. They should at least release Mother 1+2+3 now for Nintendo DS in Europe!

And as I said "Earthbound for Europe", I (also) meant Earthbound Zero, which is an NES game. It's not as holy as Mother 2 but I also wish for that game to come out some day.

SKTTR
11th July 2007, 02:12 AM
yeah i played both but only beaten the N64 one.

Shadowgate 64 : Trials of the Four Towers (N64) was a dark foggy medieval first person adventure.

it had many difficult riddles. they were as hard as in the NES game.
i liked shadowgate 64 more. it had that right atmosphere even if the graphics were blocky and all. it had it's own flair. the NES game was more of a dungeon crawler and looks very outdatet now but it has all kinds of classic traps and some where really delicious. both games are for really good explorers. there's also much to read as if you explore every corner of the castle, garden, the ghost town outside the castle. a few dark and bizarre creatures made the game haunting. the music also was pretty good in both titles.

both games are made by kemco.

the nes one had two spin-offs called "Deja-Vu" and "Uninvited".

yes Maniac Mansion was the first game.

http://usuarios.lycos.es/finlaure/MANIAcMANSION.jpg

the second was Maniac Mansion: The Day of the Tentacle.

http://biblioklik.free.fr/abandonwares/dott/images/Day_Of_The_Tentacle-front.jpg

Two outstanding adventures. Evergreens.
Maniac Mansion had only 2 appearances in Nintendo games:

One was the original Maniac Mansion for NES.
The other one was cameo appearance by the tentacles and oozo the clown in Zombies (EU) / Zombies Ate My Neighbors (US)

The Day of the Tentacle stayed on home computers only. a port of all the lucas arts adventures for wii or ds would be awesome. great developers of adventures!!

SEGA got an excellent Lucas Arts adventure too: The Secret of Monkey Island for Sega CD.

I'd love to see the Monkey Island series on Wii. The early ones are still as funny and playable as they were back then, and point-and-click adventures are an excellent use of the Wiimote.

Perhaps we'll see them under Wiiware (or whatever it's called).

Castlevania 2 would also be cool. I think it is a little underrated.
I would also like to see Nintendo release some newly translated Japanese exclusives. I would like to experience the early Fire Emblems as that genre is relatively new to me. I never played Shining Force or anything like it back in the day. And the Wii is the first console I've owned since the SNES. So I'd be interested to see the progression of the Fire Emblem franchise and the TRPG genre in general, as I am considering buying the new generation release.

Also:

Faxanadu
Wizards and Warriors
G.I. Joe (just remember really liking it as a kid)
The Mega Mans

I have this strange urge to play Batman for the NES again... It was so high paced, and as I was like 7 at the time... it was awesome! :)

It probably won't happen tho :(

Otherwise... I'll take SMB3! :D

My #1 game to go on the VC would be blaster master. It was a great game and it was really hard too. when i finally beat for the 1st time without using the game genie it was a big moment because as a kid I stunk at it and my Dad would always get to the end but run out of lives before we could find the room where the boss was. Finally beating it was a great feeling, I hope they release blaster master 2 that came out for sega genesis as well because it wasn't as good as the original but it was still good.

I still own that mat its collecting dust in my Mom's basement closet as we speak. I have the game too but can't seem to find my NES. I remember countless hours being spent on that mat. Good times indeed. Does anyone know what the other side of the mat was used for though I could never figure it out.

What did the other side look like? It's strange, there is always unused stuff on Nintendo products. Like this SNES next to me, on the bottom is a little plugin thing I never used. Might be for something that was planned but scrapped.

The Games I wish would come out on Virtual Console. This is based on that I've only owned NES and Sega Genesis.

Nintendo
Hogan's Alley
Duck Hunt
Little League Baseball Championship- (I loved this game, LLWS every year!!)
Wheel of Fortune- (Old School Wheel, Hell Yeah!!)
Family Feud- (Old School Feud with Richard Dawson, Hell Yeah!!)
Hollywood Squares- (This was the forgotten 80s version where Joan Rivers was the center sqaure.)
LJN's Major League Baseball- (No names, just numbers so 2k shouldn't have a problem with this game. Makes you reminisce about NBC's Game of the Week on Saturday Afternoons.)
Double Dragon
Tetris- (My mom got addicted to this game.)
Dr. Mario
Blades of Steel
R.C. Pro-Am
RBI Baseball 3 - (This was THE baseball game, change names to numbers and then I can relive my Mets winning the 1986 World Series and any postseason action from 1983-1990.)
Super Spike V-Ball

Sorry to stray off topic again but in regards to LucasArts adventure games these two were adventure gold.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Jones_and_the_Fate_of_Atlantis

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_Throttle_%28computer_game%29

Seeing a reiteration of these awesome point and clicks on the Wii(whether it be wiiware or on a compilation) would make my life. I poured so many hours of my childhood into the LucasArts point and clicks.

Now back to the topic. If Nintendo doesn't give the US Mega Man soon i'm gonna explode. I only want the first one so I can sleep at night knowing that the sublime second one is around the corner.

If I could have one game, it would be Tecmo Super Bowl. With all the graphic work that would have to be done to remove all the NFL logos, though, I doubt we'll see it.

I'd love to see Crystalis. The GBC version that came out several years back messed with the game too much--I'd love to see the original again, particularly to hear the original music. They messed the music up really good on the GBC.

Other must haves are Bionic Commando and Metal Gear. I'd like to see Solar Jetman and Desert Commander, as well. I hadn't seen those two mentioned.

The GBA version is much better. I wouldn't really consider getting the NES version of this one.For the most part--IMO, the NES Final Fantasy still manages to have better music than the GBA version, which is tragic. I'm pretty sure that's nostalgia talking, though. The GBA changed the music too much for me to be able to like it.

Back to the OP of the thread, I really, really want to play Mother. If I had to pick one NES/Famicom game, that'd be it.

I save it now for a full experience on the VC.

And since I beat StarTropics and liked it (yeah, masochist) I would beat / play the sequel, too. Yeah, I'm not PLAYING games, I'm BEATING them.

If you have an NES you are able to purchase a cartridge with the ROM of Earthbound Zero written on it to play on a nice TV screen with a real controller. Of course it is rather expensive. Someday though, they will release the fully translated but never brought over Earthbound Zero in one form or another. Someday...

I had Spy vs. Spy on the C64 and got on alright with single player. Infact I can't imagine being able to play it split screen properly since surely you'd see where your opponent was putting all their traps?

skawarrior
29th January 2008, 01:55 PM
Strangely I thought that was what actually made it harder! trying to fool your opponent when they can see your screen. Although a lot of the rooms were purposefully designed to be almost identical to make it tougher.
Plus you could always pull the evil move of setting traps on all the doors to the final room and locking yourself in that way you can steal the game at the very last moment or force a draw as the time runs out.

Castlevania III
Ninja Gaiden III
Dragon Quest II-IV
Most Zapper games to encourage Wii Zapper development (Duck Hunt, Barker Bills, Hogans Alley and Wild Gunman the most eventhough I already own them.)
The Punisher
Duck Tales 1 and 2
Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers
Star Trek 25th Anniversary
Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout
Adventures in the Magic Kingdom
Phantom Fighter
Base Wars

Most of these however, I don't think will come. All except Castlevania III someday, unless Konami expects to remake it someday. And Ninja Gaiden III. Copyright issues and because the company is greedy/doesn't think it'll turn a profit will probably cause problems for the rest. And Square Enix won't ever bring over the Dragon Quest series when they can sell each game, remade or not, for 20+ dollars a pop in Japan.

There are a few NES games I'd love to see. I'm not going to include games like Final Fantasy, since I don't think there's much hope that they'll come. But here are some games that have a good precedent:

River City Ransom (released in Japan and Europe! — I want!)
Faxanadu (published by Nintendo in North America, if I'm not mistaken)
Romance of the Three Kingdoms (IV is already out, so the first is possible)
Destiny of an Emperor (sweet Capcom Three Kingdoms RPG)

I also really want the original Dr. Mario... I doubt the WiiWare version will have the same nostalgic charm for me. :(

Faxanadu (published by Nintendo in North America, if I'm not mistaken)

Faxanadu was a great action RPG in the same vein as Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link. Sadly, it has been mostly forgotten by the general public. I saw and actual copy of this recently and picked it up so, I don't think I'd buy it on VC< but it would be a nice addition regardless.

I got it for my birthday back in 1990, just after it came out in North America. When I was finished with it, I lent it to a friend and he sold it! :(

Wikipedia tells me it was developed and released in Japan by Hudson Soft and published in North America and Europe by Nintendo. Given Hudson's aggressive VC support, there's some chance we'll see it eventually, maybe after they run out of TG16 games. ;)

Damn right. I'm tempted to go emulate it for a while.

Hey, I wonder if they'll ever get around to releasing Hudson's Xexyz? It was an odd little platformer/shooter with lots of upgrades and a freaky futuristic fantasy setting. I had a lot of fun with the platforming sections but sucked at the shooter stages.

1. Metal Gear :snake-box:
2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III

I never got the chance to play the original game in my favorite series, Metal Gear. Turtles 3 is the only Turtles game for the NES (besides Tournament Fighters) that I don't have, but I faintly remember playing it. If I remember right, it was the best in the series.

It's a toss-up for me between TMNTII and TMNTIII. I think I prefer II, probably just because of nostalgia for playing in the arcade.

The first NES TMNT game is 600 wii points... does this have something to do with extra licensing costs? I'd assume any future TMNT games would cost extra as well...

WarGreymon77

I think Tournament Fighters came out on NES, SNES, and Genesis (Mega Drive). So if Nintendo (or Konami) decides to release it on the VC, it could be any version.

I never liked the first Turtles game because of its difficulty and weirdness, but I still own TMNT II on NES, so I'm really hoping for TMNT III. I'd pay the extra Wii points if I had to.

For me, I'd die happy if I was able to download the following:

RoboWarrior
The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy
Bart vs. the Space Mutants
Double Dragon III
Batman
Battletoads

I grew up playing these, along with the SMB games, TMNT, NES Open Tournament Golf, and Kirby. There's another game that I played when I was younger, but I can't remember what it was called. And I think I had more games than just those, too, but if I did then I can't remember them. I wish I never sold the NES... I should kick my younger self's ass; he sold most of my GameBoy games when I won a GBA SP (wtf, sir?), and the NES and all my loved memories for a measly AU$50. :-(

I could only wish to play the original MOTHER games without them being censored/poorly translated. Still it would be nice to have Earthbound on the NES.

Megaman 2 honestly needs to hit America, NOA.

I also wouldn't mind the original Final Fantasy though the one on the GBA was a nicer edition.

Double Dragon, and Duck Hunt (capable of zapper use) would be fun.

Also, remember when the site had showed screen shots of a title named "The New Duck Hunt"? Does anyone think that Nintendo may possible be releasing this as a Wii-Ware title (kind of like the expectation/curiousity of Wario's Woods being remade for the Wii-Ware)? If so, I'd without a doubt buy it, and a zapper.

I think "New Duck Hunt" was eventually determined to be a hoax?

I think the original NES Final Fantasy has been the best version so far.

Basically it would be nice for any game that's only released in one region to finally make its way over to the other region...

I'll get Castlevania 3 along with the other first two at some point when the third comes out, but petty much everything else I'm not interested in. Especially as any crossplatform games will end up on NES rather than SMS

When I played the NES a long time ago, I had several games I loved playing over the years as I grew up. I was a real sucker for RPG games on the NES. The following games I had the most fun playing:

1. AD&D Pool of Radiance
2. Bard's Tale
3. Shadowgate
4. Pirates!
4. Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom
5. Bill and Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure
6. Silent Service (fun submarine simulation game)
7. Metal Gear (the very original, but fun)
8. All the Mega Man games
9. Overlord
10. Dragon Warrior games 1 through 4
11. RC Pro AM
12. RC Pro AM II
13. Micro Machines
14. Tengen's RBI Baseball (all of them)
15. Deja Vu
16. Faxanadu
17. Xexyz
18. FINAL FANTASY the original!
19. Shooting Range

There are others, but I can't think of them right now.

As far as the SNES console, I would love to see the following games:

1. Uncharted Waters: New Horizons (most played game other than:)
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Aerobiz and Aerobiz Supersonic
4. Arcana
5. EarthBound (glad to see that's coming. I never played it but always wanted to)
6. Mario Paint (I can see that can be fun on the Wii)
7. Original Uncharted Waters
8. Secret of Evermore
9. Super Mario All-Stars (Super Mario 1, 2, lost levels, and 3 re-released)
10. All other RPG games that came out for the SNES
11. Original Street Fighter II

I'm glad to see that Toe Jam and Earl came out for Sega, that game's awesome. Never played it but been at friends houses when they played it and looked awesome.

Aside from the obvious games that everyone seems to want (Fire Emblem, Mother, Final Fantasy) I would like to see Side Pocket on the VC, it was a pool game, chances are it isn't the best game of its type but for me it was fun playing friends on the NES on that game. That and The Guardian Legend was good (though it would be a lot better with a turbo controler) although a forgotten shooter.

This is pretty much a complete list of games that I care a little bit about for the NES. I'm including all games that are super unlikely to ever see a VC release, just for the sake of completion. A lot of these games are very possible for eventual release, though.

01. Adventures of Lolo 3
02. Bandit Kings of Ancient China
03. The Bard's Tale
04. Bionic Commando
05. A Boy and His Blob
06. Crystalis
07. Destiny of an Emperor
08. Devil World (import it plz!)
09. Dr. Mario
10. Dragon Warrior
11. Dragon Warrior II
12. Dragon Warrior III
13. Dragon Warrior IV
14. DuckTales
15. Faxanadu
16. Final Fantasy
17. Gemfire (would prefer the SNES version)
18. Genghis Khan
19. Godzilla
20. Gyromite
21. Kickle Cubicle
22. Lemmings (would prefer the Amiga version!)
23. Low G Man
24. Mario Is Missing! (would prefer the SNES version)
25. Mega Man
26. Mega Man 2
27. Mega Man 3
28. Mother (import w/ official English translation!)
29. Nobunaga's Ambition
30. Q*bert (would prefer the C64 version)
31. Rad Racer
32. Romance of the Three Kingdoms
33. Romance of the Three Kingdoms II (would prefer the SNES version)
34. Shadowgate
35. Swords and Serpents
36. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game
37. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project
38. Tetris
39. Ultima 3: Exodus

Was that not in the original version of the game? It's the same Nintendo, and if they approved it once, I don't see why they wouldn't do it again. And if it wasn't in the original NES version of them game, then that can't be the reason for its VC rejection, since they claim they only want to release original unmodified versions of the games on VC.

The original game was the Japanese version which was called 'the return of Hitler' it had Swastikas every where and plain as day there was Hitler the bad guy and you fought Nazis. The US version changed swastikas to the logo they have now and changed Hitlers name but it still featured his head exploding and back then clasification for games and such was different so I don't know really, it's just Nintendo is saying no to Capcom.

Bionic Commando Rearmed(Win/XBLA/PSN) and Bionic Commando (Win/PS3/X360) dont exactly give us a high chance of VC release.

Yeah, Nintendo didn't want to promote other companies products I believe...Bionic Commando Rearmed should be on wiiware and it's a big shame that it isn't.

I'd buy that excuse if there wasn't Ninja Gaiden and Assassian's Creed on the DS "promoting" 360 and PS3 games.

I figure we'll get Bionic Commando eventually anyways, although I'd expect to be next year or later. Meanwhile, my most wanted game (stateside) is Mega Man... any one at all.

My Most Wanted NES titles

1. Uninvited: "point&click" game for the NES. I remember renting this back in the nes days and loving it. very cool game. I tried to find a copy to buy back then but couldn't find one anywhere! Its going to be very cool whenever this one finally hits the VC.

2. Mother: Earthbound is great and I really hope Nintendo decides to import Mother so that fans can finally play it.

3. Castlevania 3: I did not find out there was a Castlevania 3 on the NES till years later. When this came out, I had already switched to the SNES, so I completly missed this game. I definitly want to get it when it comes out.

4. Deja Vu: I still have my NES copy of Deja Vu, but I'd definitly like to get it on the Wii too (that cart won't last forever...). This is another "point&click" game for the NES. Fun.

5. King's Quest: I've never played this, but I always liked the King's Quest games on the PC. I'm sure this is fun.

Other games I hope make it to the VC sooner or later: Manic Manison, Shadowgate, Nightsade, Rescue, and more!
