As Nintendo have killed of Cube freeloader and Wii freeloader, I figure alot of people may have USA titles they no longer wish to own. I have an imported American Wii so no problem for me.

So if you take paypal, I would be interested in buying some of these titles.

let me know what you have

I got a GC freeloader free with my Wii Powersaves, but it comes up fine. I can't actually launch the freloader because I don't have gc remote.

I can see the menu though:
** FREELOADER **
007: Agent Under Fire
007: Everything or Nothing
Etc!

Will this work!!!??? I'm worried now, because I'm going to mexico in two days and was planning on buying wii and gc stuff....

1. Games much sooner. I was enjoying smash bros in March :D
2. Games much cheaper. Aside from Mario kart wii because of shipping, I've not paid more than £25 for a game, inc new releases.
3. Virtual console seems to have several advantages, no 50hz/boarders. Some games out first (however same could be said for Europe). oh and cheaper. 1000 points = £5
4. USA gamecube games. PAL Gamecube games don't run in progressive scan/480p which is useful considering it's on a 32" HDTV. Makes it look a little more bearable.

Seriously, us Europeans get screwed over generation after generation. Higher prices for games, later releases most of the time, certain games not getting released here, etc
I thought i'd save myself the hassle of being screwed by Nintendo for living in the UK :)

Ahh yeah I know what your on about.

Im importing a PS3 for near the same reasons.

PS3 doesn't have to worry about region-locked games. You can import USA/Jp games no worries with a PAL console. I don't know how much cheaper the PS3s are in America though.

However their 80gb still has Backwards compatibility, but it'd be region locked to NTSC PS2 games.

I would say Wii has most advantages to importing/modding. Then Xbox 360 then PS3.
It's a shame they all can't be region free.

The worst part is that the Wii was originally announced as region-free like the DS but that was soon changed (as was a built in DVD player, I believe)

I can just see people importing the newest game of their favorite franchise cuz they just can't wait, and then buying it again when it's localized cuz they can't read Japanese. Nintendo really ought to find a way to capitalize on that.

In cases with the Naruto games and other anime games, we are forced to wait in some cases 3 years for a game just because the stupid anime hasn't reached that point here in America. That leaves us with fewer characters and on top of that, horrible voice acting (usually). And just look at the great Japan-only DS games! Jump Ultimate Stars, Osu Tatakae Ouendan 1 & 2, that other music game that I forgot the name, those Stafy games. A lot of games don't make it here either because of lisencing issues or because they have too many elements that would only sell well in Japan.

Not to mention the reasons for importing from US to EU like lower prices and the like.
(oh, and P.S. only idiots buy games twice: once after initial release and once after translation, that's just a waste of money and time)

Or collectors. Or huge fans of a certain game. I've bought multiple copies of Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV, for example, because I'm a huge Romance of the Three Kingdoms fan.

Well, that's true for games that you love. But for people who buy it twice just for a translated version instead of waiting are not smart.

(oh, and P.S. only idiots buy games twice: once after initial release and once after translation, that's just a waste of money and time)If you say so. Personally, if the Stafy games were localized, I'd buy them again. I bought the games on the expectation that they wouldn't come to NA shores, figuring the Japanese game would be the best experience I'd get. I certainly enjoy them, but I can tell I'm missing out on a lot of the game's charm by not understanding the language. If I were to play them again in English, it would be a different experience, and--for me--worth the cost.

On the other hand, if my Puzzle Series Vol. Number: Whatever were localized, I wouldn't buy them again. Japanese, English, or Esperanto, it's all pretty much the same.

Same reason I'm buying FF4 (again) this month when it's re-released in slightly altered form for the DS.

I'm there with you on that one, but I think Tides is talking about a different thing than just buying 10 versions of FFIV.

I just imported Romance of the Three Kingdoms DS because it's been out for a couple of years and there's basically no chance of it ever being translated and released over here. Now, if it were to be released over here (surprise!), I still don't think that's exactly what Tides is talking about.

What I think he is talking about is people who get impatient about a game that will obviously be released over here—so impatient that they order the game anyway, just to play it beforehand, knowing full well that it will be out in a couple of months. I know a lot of people who did that with Dynasty Warriors games, and at least one guy who did it with a text-heavy game like FFTA2. I have to admit... that is pretty sketchy.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. If a game has already been announced for coming over here, then there is no reason to buy a version you don't understand early. I mean, if it's something like a fighting game and you don't plan on buying the localized version because it doesn't matter then go right ahead, but for almost anything else, it just seems so illogical. (oh, and I'll stop talking about this now because this is getting off-topic)
