View Full Version : Wii System Memory question

Today I bought Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, popped it in, started a new file, played it for about an hour, and then left. When I came back, the disc refused to work anymore ("The disc could not be read.").

Tomorrow I'm taking back the game and replacing it with a new disc, hopefully one that works this time. (Ironic how this happens to a game called "Metroid Prime 3: Corruption"...)

So my question is this: Will the save file that I started when I first got the game still be there even with a new disc of the same game? Or will I have to start all over?

The save file will still be there. Imagine the Wii's memory as a GC memory card, regardless of the disc used the save will still be there as long as the data on the card* isn't deleted

*Refering to the Wii's internal 512mb

Also; Have you tried any of your other games before you take the disc back to see if it gives you the old cannot read error? as it COULD be a dodgy Wii.. Does it make a really bad chruning sound when you try to load the game, as if the console is about to explode? mine too was like that before I managed to update it to the newer Firmware >_<

eject and turn the disc.

Makeda: I just tried Super Paper Mario and it works fine.

SKTTRBRUISE: I put it in the right way, and the Metroid Prime 3 picture appears on the Wii menu; it's just after I push Start that the message appears.

Thanks for the help. :)
