What do you use to power your wii remote- mormal batteries, rechargeable, battery packs etc...?
I'm getting through batteries faster than I'd like to (even "good" duracell and energizer ones) and I've become interested in those rechargeable packs that fit into the remote. Are they any good and can you recommend any models (available in the UK)?
Many thanks,

I'm using really good batteries and I'm going thrrough them quick. Nintendo says that they last 30 hours I think.....but I don't know where they get that number because mine never last that long. I heard horror stories about using the 3rd party charge stations melting Wiimotes. As soon as I get some extra cash I'm buying a set of chargable "AA"s.

I use a rechargable set. Lives longer(you can get bigger power capacity) than regulars and it is cheaper in longtime use too :)

I use two pair of rechargeable AAs. When one pair is low I pop in the other one. Depending on whether rumble and the built-in speaker is used, they can last anywhere from about nine to fifteen hours.

ta for the replies,
i think i'll invest in rechargeable AA's- seems to be
the safer(?)/ more popular option.

I use the 4Gamers charging stand, looks really cool especially the glowing lights around it which you can switch on and off. Point of note you need AAA batteries for it, I didn't read it right and ended up having to run out to the shops to buy AAA's

I bought am energizer battery charger and I haven't regretted it since. seeing as I have two Wiimotes and 8 batteries I simply charge one set of four while the others are in play and swp around so I'm never out of charge ^u^.
I honestly don't know how anyone can still be using the normal batteries as it must cost a fortune.
In regards to the battery life.. I have noticed that my first batteries (the ones that came with the Wii) lasted for Ages. As I distinctly remember getting to the water temple in Zelda before they actually stated to die on me.

I use a Nyko charging station with mine. It includes battery packs and replacement battery covers for two Wiimotes, and can charge both at once in the included stand. I've not regretted my purchase at all, and never have to worry about them running out of power since I place them in the stand whenever I'm not playing.
If the remotes have to charge for a long period of time (2+ hours of actual charge time), they do get fairly warm and can be uncomfortable to hold at first. However, they're far from hot and I certainly couldn't see it damaging the remote.
Usually though I play for an hour or so and they take 15 minutes to charge back up, then they just sit in standby mode which doesn't heat them up, so this isn't an issue.
I think the cost of the kit (2 packs, 2 covers, and the charging stand) was about $25 USD.
Of course the real question is whether the remotes will fit in the stand with the new jackets on them (and whether they'll melt!)

Oh no maybe My power thing wont plug in to them! Nintendo should make there own charger It's not like they make money but people buying batteries. I always thought some how they would make some thing the plugs into the nunchuk spot on the wiimote and charge.

Oh, I never thought of that!
Maybe a connection from USB to the wii-remote?
that would be simple and it eliminates the problem
of padded remotes not fitting into docks.

Thats how mine works, in a way. I have to things that plug into the USB ports and It comes with a new back to thw wiimote with batteries built in and a little plug in on the bcak of the cover to charge, so if it was the exact same thing but goes in the nunchuck spot....

I doubt that the expansion socket has any connection to the battery part of the Wiimote, so it's probably not an option. I wouldn't be surprised to see a second generation Wiimote with a combined expansion/power socket at some point.

Screw all wii chargers. Just buy a AA battery charger, it works much better. My wii chargers were a piece of trash. I just bought a charger and 6 rechargable batteries today, they work much better.

I have an AA battery charger for my camera, but my rechargeable batteries died not too long ago (they can only be recharged a certain number of times and then they're toast, and they were a few years old). So I've just been using regular old disposable AAs lately! I have a ginormous box of them. I use them for my 'motes, my Wavebird, my TV remote, and my camera. When they're gone I'll probably splurge on a bunch of rechargeables, but not yet.

see My wii charger last about 3 months before It died. Well by died I mean, after 6 hours of beeing charged, it only lasts up to 20 minutes of gameplay.

I was going to say the exact same thing. I love my Nyko charger. The remotes still fit in the Guitar Hero guitars and I've never had one problem with them. For my four WaveBirds, I just use normal batteries, as I always get great uh, mileage from them, unlike Wii remotes.
I ordered four remote jackets from Nintendo, but I hate them. I think they are stupid and I will never use them. They make the controllers look dumb and I never ever ever drop or throw my controllers. I actually don't like the feel of the sleeves either and they must be removed to change batteries/ put in charger or to put into the Guitar.

Yeah, the Nyko charger station is neat...but I don't know if they sell in the UK. We've had our charger for almost as long as we've had our Wii (a few months before last Christmas) and it does well by us. Before then, we used the rechargeable batteries to my (Sony!) camera--just popped the batteries out each evening and put them in the charger while we slept. Kind of a pain, but not too bad.
