Depends,
what do you want more!
A great jetski racing game or a great action shoot'em up ?
Either way, you can't go wrong.

I never played Sin and Punishment, but Waverace 64 is great. You will spend quite a few hours on it. It's great. You need this game. If you don't download this, then you are missing a treat!

My vote lies with Sin and Punishment. Wave Race is only fun in small increments (to me, anyway).

I'd go with Wave Race. Just a personal opinion...

My guess is that Sin & Punishment will cost either 1100 or 1200 Points, following from the Mario Picross at 900 and SMB2J at 600. But just wait and see what happens.

But on the site, it sez that it will cost 1000 points, I really hope they don't change it because i checked my wii points balance agen and i have 1600 points. now i can buy a Turbo-graphx game as well.
Any other suggestions on what games I should buy ?

Ok, a very different variety of answers, but if this helps, I have every N64 released on the vc. So i alredy have Starfox 64/Lylat Wars, and I have heard that Sin & Punishment is very much like Starfox 64/Lylat Wars but on the ground.
And I already have F-Zero X and Mario Kart 64 and they are racing games just like Waverace 64.
Does this change anyone's opinion ?

In theory, if S+P is 1100 points, which I m guessing it will, you d have enough for a NES game if that helps.

I know both very well and i would prefer S&P. This game is awesome and everyone who loves actiongames should take a look.
....but Wave Race is also great.

Its only SMB TLL thats limited time. The others will remain according to nintendo. Its mentioned in a thread somewhere but i guess they could change there attitude. Next chance i get im getting 3000 points and Sin & Punishment and Ninja Gaiden are going to be definant downloads for me. But i havent played Either Sin & Punishment or Wave Race but to me Sin & Punishment looks better. I have played Wave Race GB though but that can hardly be compared to the N64 version.

Sin and Punishment.
My reason lies in the fact that with Wave Race there's a much better sequel out on he GC which you could probably pick up for less than the N64 version on VC.
Failing that, you could still save money and just buy the original cart of WR64 as it came out over here, unlike S&P

Sin and Punishment might be more than a 1000 points, mario picross was 900 and super mario bros 2 was 600 remember.

well that stopped me... so whats worth getting now ? In my mind I keep saying 2 myself that i must get Waverace 64 because the reviews are awsome and its the first water sports game to tackle the physical water graphic. But many others are saying Sin & Punishment because its a shoot-em'-up and its got amazin graphics and its a Japanese release worth 1200 points... I'm really stuck now.
Any definate answers ?

Any chance you can hold on till friday. Thats when S&P is out so some will have some definitive answers. Also i got 2400 points left on my VC which im saving till friday and if i still have 1000 points on me after purchasing S&P (For all we know it could be 1500 so i saved points to be sure) i am considering purchasing Wave Race. So i may have an answer by friday but no guarentee. Im sure someone else will though.

S&P for me, Wave Race is good.
But S&P is better
And this is coming form a person who had never played either of them before the vc

S&P is quite short, by the way. You'll have seen everything in less than one day, and almost half of the time you'll be watching cutscenes.
Not saying it's a bad game, though. But perhaps too pricey for what it is (and they didn't bother translating al the subtitles).

The extra difficulties will keep you busy though.

Due to the complete variety of answers i have decided... I will download BOTH :D
Yup, I get paid £5 to cut our grass and I have already downloaded S&P so all I need is 1000 more points to get Waverace 64. So that £5 and another £2 that i alredy had can go towards the 1000 points bought with credit card (£7).
I have both now, and if anyone were to repeat the question, yes Sin & Punishment is slightly better but a bit pricey for what it is.

It's kinda like lylat wars, It's meant to be played in one go.

The controls are unresponsive. TOO unresponsive. :S
Is it just like that with a certain GCN controller or something?

Really? We must have been playing different games then. Waverace's controls and physics are simply amazing. I used to play this game all the time back in the day (heh, makes me sound like an old man... :P) and even now, 10 years later, I can come back to it again (had to sell my original copy to buy a 'Cube :( ) and just mess around in Dolphin Park. Why? Because it plays so damn good. Even it's sequel doesn't feel this good.
Hmm, I got carried away a bit. But really you should try it again and remember... you're on a jetski... on the water ;)
btw, I prefer Waverace, if you hadn't guessed it already XD
