It would be quite easy for them to get death or dracula since they public domain but they would have to look completey different to the castlevania versions.

Well metal gear is made by konami (I think) so they could get a castlevania character in it

Kojima himself wanted Snake to be present in a Smash Bros release.
They were planning to feature him in Melee, but for some reason they had to wait until this very lastest game to do it.

Knowing that Metal Gear is intellectual property of Kojima, I think Konami was somewhat less direclty involved (..and every parts had money to placate an eventual grudge...).

The best bet for an outsider in my opinion may be Sonic, since SEGA and Nintendo are really teaming up now.

The captain guy (Captain Lineback I believe) seen in multiple The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass screenshots is now on the game's boxart as well (Which would most likely mean he's an important character). Could be possible they sneak him in as a playable character.
