Excellent games all (also very good is Star Wars on the Master System), but LucasArts (or whatever they're called nowadays) haven't made much noise about the retro scene yet. Given Lucas' general money-grabbing nature, I'm surprised we haven't seen the older games re-released yet!

I think Ninty's focusing on the Japanese companies for VC at the mo.

The console games are quite strong. The SNES series is an excellent set of games, and both the NES and Master System got good Star Wars efforts.
If you're really talking "earlier" though, you'd be talking about the old Atari coin-ops, which aren't quite as good. ;)

I was talking about NES/SNES era, thanks :) I'm a big fan of Star Wars so I'd definitely downloaded the games if they come to VC then.

Money-grabbing? Remember how long it took them to release the original trilogy on DVD? Ha but they eventually did and yes I still agree they are some money grubbers. Lets re-release the same three movies in theatres and watch all the lemmings pile in to see them.

The Star Wars games for the SNES were amazing. I have not played those for a long time. Wonderful games, in fact I still have the cheats for them lying around some where in one of those really old cheat code books. Haha.

Heh. I was thinking of the wireframe 3D arcade games, rather than the 2600 release, but yeah. ;)
On a related note, Attack of the Mutant Camels is basically the above game, but with giant camels and better gameplay. Another one for the C64-on-VC wishlist.

That game would make sales from the name alone.

Jeff Minter, man, Jeff Minter.
You should be banned from the video game community and your sons too.
Joking of course, but one should know Jeff Minter at least for titles he gave to his games.

Space Giraffe too.
Of course most of you should know him more for Tempest 2000. Ah but take a look at the default Topguns board. Top score: YAK. Along with COW and EWE under it.

i love the Super Star Wars series, i owned Return and Empire, but i would've liked to see level codes in the first one, i don't always have an hour or two to play through the whole game.
so i say (if at all possible) change the coding in Super Star Wars just a bit to add level codes that you discover the way through like in Return.
the other two should be straight ports
also i don't think Lucas would argue putting the Games on VC, considering the fan base is here. He has a very enlightened view on how 'the more my stuff is out there, the better it is for me' kinda deal.
try to count all the star wars references in Family Guy... this is a challenge.
