This game makes me feel like an idiot.

You forgot to add to the poll. Medium-hardness! Gamers today humfff!! Super GnG is NOT that hard. It just requires ninja like skillz (or is that knight like?) - a bit of a practice and it's possible to one-credit this. It's not that bad.

Just wait til the megadrive version comes out with no double-jump to save your hide!

I find the PSP remake much harder for some reason despite the addition of energy bar!

Well I've got to level 4 on professional difficulty, and completed it on the easiest. The difficulty is slightly overhyped, unless I'm really good at it :P

The bosses can be a right pain sometimes though.

Yeah, the double jump has saved my skin plenty of times. Ghosts 'n Goblins & Ghouls 'n Ghosts are MUCH harder!

The only thing that would be made easier is the fact I won't jump too far off the cliff anymore >.<

The best tactic often for the bosses is to get the super charge suit and stick with the javelin or daggers. Just charge it up and release just before impact for a 1 second blast of invincibility.

I find the dragon who circles around you to be a right swine unless I use this tactic.

A top tactic is to jump upwards, then jump out on the second jump. That is what you need to do when one jump isn't enough, but 2 jumps outwards will throw you into the sea!

The bit with the clams and sea can be tough until you perfect this. 8)

The jumps are annoying, if you double jump to soon or late your going in the water :x

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is hard, but the first two were a magnitude harder, and really deserve their place in the pantheon of ultra-mega-make-you-cry hard games. :D

I've been playing the CPS-1 GnG for years, and I've yet to one-credit it.

Yes, the series has always been rock hard, although the earlier ones were absolutely insane. I don't think I ever finished Ghosts 'n' Goblins.

Just be glad you played them on home systems; imagine sinking money into them at the arcades!

It took me back to the beginning and it seems a lot harder this time, like the zombies are faster

My save-point on the Virtual Console is right at the end as I'm on the second to last boss (second time through) and all I'm doing is running out of continues.
It ain't gonna happen.

This game is really hard, i only played the regular one for the megadrive and bought this one yesterday, even with the double jump feature its still harder than the original.

The first time I got into the second play of it, it gave me this really strong weapon at the start of level 1, but it won't give it to me again. What's with that?

By the way how is this version different from the Capcom classics version I mean is that based on the harder American or Japanese version.

Edit: I know about there being less slow down and no save state.

This version is easier than the Capcom Classics version because the Capcom Classics version is a direct port of the arcade version, which im pretty sure is harder.

Also, a couple people have said that the earlier games in the series are harder than this one. I can agree with Ghost 'N' Goblins being harder since i have yet to complete the second level, but as far as Ghouls 'N' Ghost go, i can get to the last level on Professional mode dying only a couple times.

And I have yet to beat the second level of Super Ghouls 'N' Ghost. So maybe its the other way around for me

yes this game is extremely hard and espeacially if you do it the way it was suppose to be done. NO save points. ive beaten this game twice once on easy and once on the hardest difficulty. it take me almost forever. the day i past it was a summer when almost everyone in my family tried beating it. but theres one weapon you should always have is daggers. except on the second way though but thats a secret (ok maybe its not but i want to be special:().

Uhh... There's no arcade version of Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, it was a SNES exclusive.

On the other hand, the Japanese version was indeed harder.
