Streets of Rage

I'd never played it before it came to the VC, I downloaded as a snap decision, and it's simply awesome :D
I can't believe there's games like this I never would have played if it weren't for the VC...
I'm now really excited about the announcement of part 2, apparently coming to VC in May :D

Yea streets of rage is great, I played it on a megadrive cart wich broke before I downloaded it on virtual console

yeah streets of rage for me was the first side scrolling beat-em-up which i actually liked even more than final fight and double dragon !

2 up is probaly the best way to play because of the grab combos and stuff!

I beat it with my bro. Turned on my mate at the end. And am now re-doing it with said mate.

I love this game and love the memories of beating with the said mate back in the day :)

Fantastic game, much better than the SNES Final Fight, but not as good as the arcade one IMO. But then SOR 2 beats that so...

Mainly cosmetic improvements in graphics and sound over SoR, but no major gameplay improvements. You do get to play as a boxing kangaroo though, and years before Tekken 2 did it. :wink:

I couldn't get the downloaded to work for ages, then when I di the estimated download time was 1-2 hours :shock:

Needless to say I stopped there, god knows how much memory that'd be using up and I can't wait that long.

I'd say 2. 3 is great as well, but 2 always seemed a more polished game to me, the music is brilliant, and it's a giant step up from 1 in terms of quality. I say this with the disclaimer that they're all great though.

Aye, indeed it is! I enjoyed the second game a lot more than the original. But that didn't stop me from downloading the original! :wink:

If you had to pick one, then it would have to be 2. While 3 is good, it's not as much of an improvement as the second was over the first, and I think the second one is the better game regardless.

I have to download 3 for two reasons:

1) I never played SoR 3 :cry:
2) To complete the trilogy. :lol:

just wanted to chime in here, and say the SOR remake is a blast to play. and very clever, I was really impressed by the attention to detail, the music, effects and everything else. it's worthy of its own special release. that was a great link, thanks for notifying us of it.

Bought SOR 1 + 2 over the weekend, awesome games remember playing this endlessly when it was first released for the sega and still seem to be doing it now :).

Hope they released the 3rd one here in the UK, dont think it was released here orignally?

I intend to get SOR2 at some point. Either when Paper Mario (Or Wave Race 64) is put up, or if I manage to finish DKC by then (In which case, SOF2 + DKC2 ^^)
