So does this system have any decent RPG's, or are they all fighting/platform games?

No... The Neo-Geo was basically a specialized Arcade Cabinet that was also a Home Console. I've never seen an RPG in arcades ever, so I don't think Neo-Geo had one, as games for the Neo-Geo were almost always both in Arcades and at Home. Besides, SNK is known for their bad English translation. You wouldn't want to play an RPG with SNKlish.
However, if you like 2D Fighting Games, the Neo-Geo wins bar-none over the other five consoles.

Oh well, I suppose I'll just have to wait for Nintendo to get off its a** and release the good SNES RPG's. Unfortunately at this rate that could take years to even get one of the best RPG's for that system.

Actually there were two attempts at RPGs on the neo-geo.

Oh, yeah... two attempts that you should probably ignore... But sadly, all the good SNES RPGs like the Final Fantasy games, the Dragon Warriors games, Chrono Trigger, and even Super Mario RPG are made by Square-Enix who is remake happy with both Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest (formerly known as Dragon Warrior) and doesn't seem to want to touch Chrono Trigger at all... Hell, Breath of Fire 1 is owned by Square-Enix and it is mysteriously absent also, despite Capcom's Breath of Fire 2 appearing. We are lucky we got Actraiser and might get Super Mario RPG in the future. You are better off waiting for the Phantasy Star games for the Sega Genesis.

The only one I can think of is Samurai Showdown RPG on the Neo Geo CD although I think it was a japanese only release.
