Well, got to play for 20 mins (Before rushing like a madman to get ready for my X-RAY appointment), and while I wish the camera wasn't so close to Leon, and that there was a strafe, so far, it's been mint :D
The controls rock! :D

How accurates the shooting? The fact I'm worried about the controls not working well for me is what's holding me back from buying it..

How accurates the shooting? The fact I'm worried about the controls not working well for me is what's holding me back from buying it..Its very smooth. Unlike redsteel or Farcry. This is a AAA game for the Wii Its far better now then it was on the PS2 or GC.
Although ammo for me is harder to come by. Having to point and shoot makes the gameplay much more exciting as well.
The controls are not at all bad. Capcom does not dissapoint =)
You should rush out for this or atleast rent. Its worth the 30 USD.

The only constraint with shooting is that you can't move (as you couldn't in the previous versions) when shooting. It's easy to see why they didn't change that. That would have made the game just way too easy.
There's definitely no problem with aiming in the Wii version. Very responsive.
I haven't had any problem with ammo. As it is, I often have more ammo than will fit into my inventory. =/

I am and I am always low on ammo Expecially Handgun Shotgun and rifle ammo. The cabin part of the game was hell for me. I never die there on the PS2 version but I died 3 times because of lack of ammo. I had to splurge on the Red9 and firepower upgrades to beat that part.

Yes, that was normal mode. Beat that a few days ago. I'll be trying professional soon. I died in the cabin several times for a different reason. It is still not so easy to escape them tentacle-heads that can reach halfway across the room, while one is trying to fight of all the other villagers.

So, the postal strike is still on then? Amazingly, there are no news about this anywhere! Bloody incredible; apparently a nationwide postal strike is no longer newsworthy, but an overdue replacement of a few muppets in government (Hewitt, I'm looking at you ) has been on the tube every 15 minutes since this morning... Once was enough, people, we get it.

Been playing this for the last few hours and I'm in the bit where you first meet the merchant and I've spent some cash on a bigger bag.
I'd forgotten about some of my favourite bits so far, and the part I'm on now is pretty memorable.
Control wise it's weirder than I thought it would be - you can imagine pointing to aim, but it is right that it takes a while to get used to the concept of using the d-pad for your camera. In fact, most times I go into aim mode as it just doesn't feel right moving a camera with a d-pad. Analogue FTW. They're beginning to click with me though.
Finally, I can't quite decide if Resi 4 has aged, or they ported the slightly worse looking PS2 version, as I seem to remember it looking better than this. Nothing major, just some small textures that aren't as smooth as I remember. Could be the old rose specs though.

I'm so used to the GameCube one now though, I'm not really sure if I could enjoy it as much with the controls completely changed. I still really enjoy that one, so I think I'll just stick to it.

The game costs $72.9671 in almost every store in Sweden, seems like it's only America that gets it for the half price that was promised. It's the third release on the same game after all.
Checked pricerunner and the cheapest one was $62.7312 and that's covering entire sweden including almost every online store the is. Bad job sweden, import this one I guess...

I might even buy the GC version to have them all. The PC version sucks though.

Just been playing it for 5 hours straight. Wow, just wow. What a brilliant game, and totally unrelated to the clunky ****e that the previous ones were. I can't imagine the old control schemes being better than this, though.

I couldn't see myself going back to the GC controls, either. The scripted scenes' control is a lot better, too. I wasn't very fond of the button mashing of the old; waggling my remote is so much easier and more comfortable.

I wouldn't, unless you desperately need to play it on a real GameCube for some reason. Just plug a GameCube controller or Wavebird into your Wii, and take the nunchuk out of the wiimote, and the Wii Edition plays just like the GCN version, even so far as reinstating the laser sight.

Right boys, almost 12 hours in and I'm still playing. My girlfriend is absolutely fuming, but this is the first time in years I've actually enjoyed a game enough to not do anything else all day. Right up there with Zelda, and this is coming from a Resident Evil-hater.

It doesn't mention on the box and I don't have it connected by HD, PS3 and 360 are taking my HDMI and HD Component slots. Why bother with a Wii in HD when you only have 2 HD slots and the others are more suited to it?

Im always hard up for ammo. Im just after you fight the blind guy in the prison. I swiped every last bit of ammo in the area for that fight and I cleared the room with the horse heads as well as most of the room after that one. Now im down to 2 Shotty rounds and 15 pistol rounds.
Its much harder to play this game on the wii in normal. blah. and ive saved 45 times as well im 8 hours into the game. I save alot because it is hard to clear these rooms with such limited ammo i dont want to have to do it again just in case I die.
BTW ive only died once XD and that was way in the beginning when i wasnt used to the controls XD

How did the US get screwed on RE4 anyway? EU gets easy mode, JP gets easy and amateur modes. All US got was a Trailer for RE:UC
Normal mode is almost impossible for me even when conserving ammo.

There's one hell of a shootup a small bit ahead of that, I've just completed it on Proffessional the other day, it had me going insane!
Just a small tip, but when I kill the ganado's with no other ones around, I shoot them in the leg, then kick them, then just repeatedly knife them on the ground. This saves ammo; you should only use 1 or 2 bullets for each one that way.

I did that as well, at times. You can save some ammo that way. I'm still kind of puzzled how you guys run out of ammo so easily. Sure, I was low at some points in the game, but never low enough to have me fret about it. There is plenty of ammo to be had from vases, boxes, barrels, and enemies alike. Also, when I know that I'm about to upgrade one of my weapon's capacities I make sure to use that weapon extensively without reloading afterwards. You'll get a full load of ammo with the upgrade.
I disagree on the easy mode. At least for me, it wouldn't have provided any challenge then - I don't even want to know what a joke amateur mode is. Normal was plenty easy enough.

demon, you can get a decent component switch box on ebay for around £15 i have the wii, 360 and pro scan dvd player(dont like dvds on 360- too loud!) in mine and there is no loss in picture quality.
the wii looks better in pro scan mode- but only really when the picture is moving, so dont dismiss it from seeing stills on the net!

I just bought this on my break at work on a random impulse. I have the GC version and was looking for another reason to play through it again anyway. Can anybody shed some light on whether or not the Wii controls really enhance the overall experience??? I'm guessing yes but just wanted some more in depth reflections.

been playing this game for the past 2 weeks now and i have to say the controls are near perfect for the Wii, i reckon it could have been improved with strafing but you cannot complain too much as this is such a good game.
I have never played any of the Resident evil games before so this my first and i am glad i gave it a shot.
been playin 12 hours now and at chapter 5-1 in easy mode, keep running low on ammo :S.

Just bought it yesterday and love it. I keep trying to move while shooting though and end up aiming in the ground or sky. No trouble with ammo though just shoot em once then kick.
