I know it's been said that Rare games won't be coming to the VC but I believe that they've stated themselves that it's a possibility. Which do you think stand a chance?
I know we can almost certainly forget about getting Goldeneye (damn you Activision!) but surely Blast Corps / Conkers / Banjo / Jet Force Gemini / (and hopefully...) Perfect Dark are original Rare concepts and can't be ruled out?

I find it highly improbable. It's one thing to release the games distinctly linked to Nintendo consoles and properties (Diddy Kong Racing) but it's another thing to release games that have had sequels on Microsoft machines, and are now identified as MS franchises. So that, unfortunately, is pretty much every game on that list.
I think MS will be much more likely to release that code onto the XBLA, if they're smart. Given they didn't exist during the N64 generation, there must be a proportion of their user base that clamours for these things as much as we do. I'm amazed nothing's been done about it yet.

Personally, I'd go out and buy a 360 today if they would confirm all these N64 Rare games for XBLA. As it is I'm waiting for the 360 to drop in price, even though I badly want to play SOTN.

Jet Force Gemini and the Banjo games would be the only rare games I'd download if we did at some point get rare games.

I wouldn't buy a 360 for anything, frankly, although they're making it very difficult for me with all the stuff appearing on Live Arcade!

The only things that really interest me on Live Arcade are a couple of classic games. I don't really care for the rest.
Plus there's the fact the 360's been out for a year and a half and XBLA only has like 60 titles now, while VC already has 85 (In EU).

Live Arcade is getting a bunch of board games, which is a great idea, and one that Nintendo need to copy as soon as possible. And Live Arcade is getting online Sensible World of Soccer too, which is huge. But yeah, none of that is enough for me to shell out however many hundred quids it is for a 360.

I'd love to see KI Gold on Virtual Console

They should stick to Software IMO. Ive had a Xbox and to me it was utter crap. and all the xbox fanboys kill it for me.

I doubt we'll see Rare on the VC. With all these contracts and agreements, Nintendo will have to take a long time before they can get Rare games on the VC. I'll never say never though...

Why can't Microsoft and Nintendo agree to release Rare games on both the VC and XBLA? Then everyone's a winner! (it would never happen but still...)

i really dont get it, just because activision owns the james bond license for games people automatically assume it wont show up on VC, correct me if im wrong but activision isnt exclusive to anyone right? I mean they are just a 3rd party game developer and publisher similar to many of the other game developers that have released games on VC already.
Activision will still get a cut of the action if goldeneye is released on VC and Nintendo has the choice to charge a little more for the game. Im not saying goldeneye will show up on VC but i dont think its accurate to say it wont show up on VC at all.

Stilll, it would be better if EA still had the Bond licence, they would almost certainly agree to put it on the VC (remember them saying they were backing the Wii 100%?)
I wouldn't mind paying up to perhaps 1500 points for it, but I really want to see Goldeneye running at a higher resolution than the N64's rubbish resolution (has anyone actually tried playing N64 on a big TV?)

i guess we will just have to hope that the high wii sales with convince the greedy money hungry corporations like activision to release some games on it, i mean its not like its really going to cost them much of anything, i really dont see why they wouldn't put it on VC. Unless they wanted to be retarted and re-release golden eye by itself on all machines to rake in the cash for itself... Wouldn't surprise me.

But this is how companies work, you really have to face the fact. Say you are the owner of a company. You have the option to sell a game for 10 dollars online or for 30 to 60 in stores with a few new features or whatever. You would not choose 10 dollars. Even if you say you would, you wouldn't.

you also need to face the financial facts of the cost of production to manufacture said game. Plus supply and demand of the population to pay 30-60 dollars for a 1996 game you can get on ebay for under 10 bucks even with added content. Your also ignoring the fact that it cost almost nothing to release the exact same content for download compared to the costs of manufacturing, distributing, giving the wholesaler their cut, and programmers arnt going to "add features" for free, plus microsoft/sony/nintendo will still get a share of the profit assuming it would be released on all platforms. and what do you mean thats how companies work? If thats the case then please name some games that have been re-released on next gen consoles with the same graphics from the 32/64 bit era thats _not_ a collectors edition with several other games within it. Activision is not going to take to the time to re-distribute a single N64 game when they have the option to through it up on VC much quicker and cheaper while still raking in a decent profit.
But of course we don't really know who is going to do what, but all im going to say is that you are going to see Goldeneye on VC before you end up seeing some kind of remake on a store shelf.
And in regards of your question about what i would do if i was said company... release it on VC for more than 10 bucks due to demand, XBL with online support for like $15-20, and i don't even know what sony's online system is but do something with that if i could. Completely ignore the manufacturing/distribution costs of a little 64bit game and through it up for download.
