View Full Version : POLL: What do you think of your Wii?

Just been speaking to a few pals, one of whom is incredibly disappointed with his Wii and another who thinks it's the greatest thing since the creation of the pizza.
I personally feel that although the Wii games released have been quite disappointing to date that there are some great ones just around the corner and the VC more than makes up for the current dearth of amazing games.
Thoughts, comments!

I t still needs more killer apps and such, but for the first few months of it's lifespan I think it has done reasonably well ^_^

Once you can play games on the internet... this will be the greatest console ever

Apparently I'm the only one reserving judgement so far.
The controls are great, some of the games have been a lot of fun, but until developers stop thinking simplistic 'shake' controls and minigames are all I need, I've yet to decide. The summer might make all the difference, though.

Only if your American, as Europeans often suffer harsh game droughts until September.

Considering that I switched a gamecube to a Wii I would say that I'm happy with my console. More games and online services would be nice though.

The Wii is great, but the VC boosts it to brilliant :D
We've got Strikers now, here's for waiting for the other big launches to come.

the wii is a really fun console it is completely different to a PS3 and 360 it changes the way you play video games and since the Vc has come out the Wii is definetely improved the games on the wii are good but id have to say if i played them on a playstation or x-box they wouldnt be as fun but HEY HEY HEY!!! 10 out of 10

Amen. Time will show the quality... Im used to wait on the killer titles on new consoles. The first wave of games on next gen consoles tend to be crap/poor ports/money grabbers cos no competition etc IMHO. And thank god for wii sports, its one of the few games i get my "anti gaming" roomie to play(bowling ftw)

One part of me can agree with people who think there are not many great games out. The other can just say, well there might not be allot of good games but I'm still having more fun with this console then I've had with anything for a long time. With exception of Resident Evil 4, video gaming had stopped beeing fun for me for a long time now. The Wii brought back the fun in gaming for me. That's got to be worth atleast something. I actually got emotional just today when I finally was able to beat Diddy Kong in the Mario Strikers Crystal cup, I've got to him about 15 times and always lost just at the end and had to reply all cup over and over again. Now I found myself actually cursing that damn monkey and when I beat him I was laughing. And trust me I usually don't let games get to me like this. It's an amazing feeling to after so many year actually having fun, real fun, playing games again. I think the Wii is a good colsole and around chrismas we'll probaly know if it's the greatest of all time. But I am hopefull, I really am.

I'm also reserving my judgment, and I'll probably wait until the end of the year. Sure, the Wii is a nice console, VC is also a nice thing to have. I've had fun with the few titles for which developers actually implemented good controls without being merely slapped on. Yet it does certainly need more games and time before I can make a decision.
I'm looking forward to Mario Strikers, Metroid Prime 3, and Super Mario Galaxy, but I would also like to see some good third-party titles. RE4 has been the only one that fits the bill, so far, even if it's a rehash.

Wii is the greatest system I've ever played. No system before it has allowed me to play (almost) every game from every past Nintendo home console. Plus, it has Smash Bros. That would make any system pretty much immortal.

I think mine is great, i am a PC gamer at heart so nothing on consoles ever appealed to me as PC games always offer more.
The Wii offers something different which a PC will probbly never do.

Greatest console ever? not a chance. Im not a sony fanboy, in fact im lucky enough to own a wii, a 360 and a ps3. It has to be said that the console i spend the least time on is the wii by a long chalk, it was great fun at first but now it just seems little more than a fad.
I think thats why nintendo are concentrating so hard on the casual gamers and people who never thought of playing games before cos they know their hardware doesnt offer anything to actual gamers. Dont get me wrong, i think the vc is a great idea and there are some great games on there but sooner or later those great retro games are gona dry up and we'll be left with the more forgetable games.

I really love the Wii, but it's not my favourite console EVER. Some of the games that have come out are great, but at the same time plenty are pretty bad, so I can't wait for Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy etc.

To be honest I don't really like any of this generations consoles that much they all suffer from a lack of games I want to play.

I've been gaming for over twenty years, so you could call me an "actual gamer", and I'm quite happy with the Wii. HD graphics are nothing if all we get are endless WWII/special forces shooters and sports games.

need bigger titles.
vc's a great feature. and mini game compilations are great after the pub.
but we need some more 'proper' games like zelda.

I'd certainly agree that Wii needs some big titles of its own, but they'll come.

It's great, but Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and SSBB had better be pretty good to take the title from N64. Or at least better than some of those fantastic Rare titles.

The Wii helped me break my dreaded WoW addiction ( which I'm still not too ready to be open about, haha.) It gave me a good reason to get back into the console scene again. However, I'll currently hold my thoughts until we see the library of games stack up a little bit. Looking at Super Mario Galaxy though, things seem real promising.

I have much love for the Wii. Having friends and family round and playing Wii Sports or any of the numerous other mini games available is a giggle. As mentioned before we could do with a few more serious games (Zelda and RE4 are corking mind). What disappoints me the most is predictably Nintendo's approach to online play. Not the greatest system ever yet then, but it's still early days.

And I've never been to big on mario kart, I like it I buy the games but on Wii, This will be the best Mario kart ever.

I love my wii, I was thrilled to get the prime 3 preview channel, I thought zelda was great and wii sports is tons of fun. Wii play was disapointing but I look at it as a 15 dollar game and that's really all it is. I was thrilled at the vc but ****ed when my wireless internet would'nt work but since I got the lan adapter from the nintendo store it's worked great. I wish nintendo would release more classic titles on the vc and less turbographx 16 but hey its their call. I can only hope now that prime 3 is great and one day in the future the vc gets blaster master.

Super Mario Galaxy looks absolutely incredible!
Along with Metroid Prime 3 and SSBB, the Wii's going to be unstoppable.

it is a great console.
However, there are a few flaws with the wii-mote, and a lack of developers jumping on board and using the wii-mote to its full potential.
Also, I am disasppointed with the slowness of the VC releases.
Personally, I still believe the SNES to be the Greatest. Console. Evar.

I loved my Wii to death when I got it at the beginning of May. Since then, my love has faded. I didn't want to believe that it was a gimmick, but now I'm starting to believe it. I just bought a Xbox 360 yesterday, because while Wii is fun, it's not satisfying all my needs, such as proper online and more mature games. I've had enough ridiculous mini-games (and overrated, Wario Ware anyone?). Anywho, I was going to sell my Wii, but two things are preventing that from happening: RE4 and the VC.
So in short, I'll be keeping my Wii, but I won't be buying anymore games for it until Super Mario Galaxy. *goes off to play Bioshock*
oh and the greatest console of all time is Playstation 1, with SNES a close second.

VC was the sole selling point for me. i think the wii-mote is fun and innovative, but that alone wouldn't have made me buy the console. as far as the other features go, im on the internet channel everyday since my pc died (using it now actually). i like the voting channel, weather and news i dont use so much.
Online gaming would help the system alot, and stronger third party development.
ive seen the Wii bring people together, putting everyone on equal terms no matter what there gamer status is, and i like that.
i'll probably keep the Wii forever, as long as the VC keeps updating. but best console? No, that title still belongs to SNES for me.

Of course it’s the greatest, it has a super Nintendo and a 64 shoved its output port; what’s not to like?
(I still don’t how they did it and still have room for the turbografx)

Add the Neo Geo to the pack, and it would be even more of a bulky mess.

Honestly i love it. a 360 wouldn't do it for me. Yeah I'm not useing it as much as I used to but I will be. For now Zelda OOT paper mario super paper mario thousand year door (game cube but so what) a link to the past and DK country are doing it for me. But if you notice that's only one real wii game in there. But the future is looking good, Super mario rpg is what im waiting for (because I know majoras mask will be forever) and Metriod prime 3 mario galaxy and brawl are looking good. Also it's a good thing there comeing out in the winter because all I do is skateboard and I was getting worried there. But all in all I'd say wii is the best system out there, I've seen better games... But wii is the better system.
