What do people think of this game?

I bought it today for 4 dollars based on memory I had of it being discussed in older EGM issues.

Most of the reviews seem half-assed and give it mixed scores.

It's on my "to buy and play list after I finish those other games and if I ever get a machine that will run it" list. I don't remember too much about what made me decide to place it there, except that it sounded pretty amusing & had a neat art style. Reminded me a bit of Disgaea, in those aspects.
