this game is awesome!!! has anyone else downloaded this game, and also, can anybody beat it?
i played this game a bunch for the NES and can beat Mr dream pretty easily. can anybody else beat this game, or make it that far?
i'm only asking because i don't know many people skilled enough to beat this hard-assed game. :)

Unfortunately I am playing it on a High-def television and Ihave the split-second lag in control. I used to be able to beat Tyson almost every time. Now I can't get past Soda Popinksi. :(

I once tried hooking my Super Nintendo up to my HiDef. Pfft, you can hardly get past level 2 with just that small lag.
Also, I can't get past Soda Popinksi. :(

Beat the game already. I used to play this game all the time years back. I still remember the techniques of all the fighters. This game just doesn't age, so much fun.

This thread reminds me of how frustrated I was the last time I played Punchout!
That really sucks about the lag.

Meh, I just moved it all downstairs to a non hidef TV and it's all better... Except for the fact that I still can't beat Soda Popinski.

I'm on Bald Bull 2, and I think that will temporarily be my stopping point. After getting beaten by Bald Bull a bajillion times I kind of lost interest in the game. He seems beatable, but I'm just having trouble getting in a punching/dodging rhythm with him. And I can never time his Bull Charge correctly. Oh well, great game and I've had a lot of fun getting to where I am in it.

You have no choice, the only way to beat him is beating his bull charge. It's not really that hard, you just got to time your punch at the last possible second. He's very beatable, and definitely not one of the harder boxers in the game.

Agreed there.
As soon as he starts coming down with the Bull Charge...
Count 1, 2, 3, PUNCH!
I honestly think Super Macho Man is the hardest in the game. I'd rather avoid Tyson's (or Mr. Dream's) knock out punch than Macho Man's spinning punches.

Thanks for the help guys. I decided to use the advice and I did a lot better against him. I was actually able to knock him down twice, but I'm still having trouble timing the Bald Bull Charge. It's just going to take more practice...

Yeah keep at it man. That's all Punch-Out!! is. Just learn the patterns and practice your timing and you'll be able to take every boxer down with your eyes closed.

I'd like the Tyson version too, as it's the one I remember. Too bad that'll never happen. Same game though.

I wish I had.
It's at the Zürich Nintendo World Shop, and occasionally, the guy who runs it, ask me to take over my Wii for some classic gaming action.

I was wondering, what with all the Wii boxes in the background.

I have beaten this classic title many times over. With and without a Game Genie.

Does the VC version of this game still have the lag on HDTVs or did Nintendo update this? I am talking about the US version btw.

I beat the tyson version once by inputting the tyson code and then beating him but nobody believed me because my roomates were out at the time.

i also bought this game. i own in for the NES as well but my NES kinda only works when it wants to. I can only get up to Super Macho Man. This game is a true classic and for those who can beat the game deserve respect, for beating a game that is.

Yes it does the last time I checked... Can't even get past Soda Pop with this lag on the HDTV and I have beaten this game tons of times on my NES. When I wanted to play the VC version at college I borrowed my roomates old tv to play it and it worked fine. I beat the game with his tv. Kind of a pain to switch tv's though. I wish they would send an update.
I had to YouTube my beating of Mike Tyson because none of my friends believed me! haha.

I could never beat Tyson back in the day, but my dad did. I wonder where that cart ever got to... I didn't find it in the little bundle I brought from home and added to my collection this weekend.

Well get ahold of it somehow! The VC version is just fine as long as you use an older tv. Beating this game is a real accomplishment that you will surly enjoy! This game may have been the reason I never tried RPGs! haha I was spending hours a day playing this until I finally beat it. Mega fun game. Once of the best I have ever played.

Oh, I've played all the way through to Tyson a few times, I could just never put him down. :) I don't think I tried too hard, though. Impatient kid. I'll have the parents keep their eyes peeled for it though. It must be in storage somewhere.

Little late... But HD lag is due to crappy scalers and filters.

You dont need to be 'skilled' lol. Just work out the opponents weakness and you won.

why not try 007-373-5963
to beat Mike Tyson/Mr. Dream you have to dodge his punches for a minute and a half (1:30) then he will get tired then you can start punching him.

Then when you beat him you can throw a party for yourself and join the facebook group. Unless someone want to start an "I beat Mike Tyson" thread?
