The review doesn't say anything about cut or uncut.
Does ist contain blood or is it the "sweat"-version?

Might download this. I never played a single Metal Slug game before. Unless the gore has been cut out though.

I ll download this at some point. It ll be a good test to see if I like this enough to buy the Anthology or not.

Does ist contain blood or is it the "sweat"-version?I believe it has all the gore intact just like the anthology version, but this version will run slower if you live in Europe.

So we have a new 50hz ****ed up game ? :(
ICEknight

Yes. They could give us a 60Hz option since there's only a worldwide version for this game, but they just won't.

But it's with red blood, I didn't notice it running slower though.

...There's no home version of Metal Slug without red blood, I believe.

Well, doesnt sound too bad. NeoGeo titles take up a fair bit of space, so that was kinda expected.
But of course, Wiiware, Pokemon Puzzle League and SSBB eating up my memory in the future certainly won't help things.... T.T

Hopefully Nintendo sort this storage problem out soon.

Is there even enough space for Sin and Punishment, KoF '94, Gradius II and Metal Slug, while having a SSBB save, the Mario Kart Channel and the Internet Channel?

This is likely to be my next Virtual Console purchase, and my first NeoGeo title. I'm not terribly interested in any of the other games... :| But I've heard good things of this, and the review seals the deal. ;)

The arcade unit you played was the Neo Geo. :D There's 3 Neo geo; the Neo Geo MVS (which is the arcade unit), the Neo Geo AES (which is the home unit), and the Neo Geo CD. Between all of them, they were the same games, except in the AES and CD you'll get more features. Heck, the MVS could play the AES carts with a little modifying. :D

As adroitone just posted, the Arcade version of the Neo Geo, called Multi Video System (MVS).
So you can choose the difficulty of the arcade version.

If I remember correctly, it was never consistent. However, the highest difficulty was always at the bottom of the list. Most of the games, MVS wa.s the highest difficulty (in which made sense, since SNK wanted you to pour as many quarters as possible into their machines). :D

MVS difficulty seems to throw the most enemies on the screen :)
Some people might be wondering if this is worth downloading. I'm a big Metal Slug fan, but I won't be getting the Anthology any time soon, so I downloaded this. I have Metal Slugs 3,4,5 on the Xbox however.
I would say that if you have Metal Slug Anthology or plan to get it soon then certainly don't get this. On the classic controller Y is grenade, B is shoot, and A is jump, which doesn't feel like the best choice. These games really need configurable controls. Playing the VC version with the Wii remote sideways was not bad, however you can't use grenades. I found the overall feel of the Wii remote to be a bigger issue, but you could get used to that. So if you have Anthology, you really aren't missing much.
If you don't have the Anthology or you're like me and the wife is putting the brakes on your gaming addiction, then Metal Slug is still a tough sell. It's an absolutely fantastic game, truly one of the best, but it takes 240 blocks. It's nice to have it right on the Wii with no discs or menus, but you may not want to use that space. If you buy Anthology later (something I am still considering) then you will certainly delete Metal Slug and it will be a waste.
But in the big scheme of things, $9 is not very much money. I'll be playing Metal Slug for many months so I'll easily get my money's worth. If you're not getting Anthology or you're on the fence, then certainly get this game.
For what it's worth, here is my opinion of the Metal Slug games:
Metal Slug (A+) has the most destruction!
Metal Slug 2 (A) funniest and most politically inappropriate Metal Slug
Metal Slug X (A+) remixed version of Metal Slug 2, with no slowdown or Americans shooting Arabs anymore
Metal Slug 3 (A+) most ambitious Metal Slug game, with multiple paths
Metal Slug 4 (C+) recycles too much from previous games
Metal Slug 5 (B) better, but not an orgy of destruction
I've rated Metal Slug 4 and 5 a bit harshly. They're still good games, but they just aren't in the same league as Metal Slug 1-3. Metal Slug 3 has more gameplay and less destruction than previous games. Metal Slug 2 is basically insane, and in the original Metal Slug everything is blowing up all around you all the time and there are at least 3 different animations of guys on fire.
How would you rate Metal Slug 6 ? The graphics look weird, but is it good ?
Maybe they'll put Metal Slug 7 (DS) on WiiWare :)

I noticed the rainbows on the waterfalls as well, but I'm not familiar enough with the arcade game to know whether it's any different. But it's not not just you. I didn't notice anything amiss with the sound, but there was a lot going on.

The art style, detail, and humor in all the Metal Slug games are amazing. I highly recommend a download, or getting the anthology, AND finding a copy of Metal Slug Advance!

Wow, someone else liked Metal Slug Advance? Granted, it's a small step away from its arcade roots, but I thought it was a pretty fun game overall. (It would also be cool if Walter and Tyra were unlockable characters in a future MS game.)

Yeah totally! I liked the collectible "cards," too. I thought it was a very cool and successful attempt to make a MS game for the GBA
