Psycho Fox
Wonderboy (the original adventure island)
Shinobi
Kenseiden
Fantasy Zone
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Phantasy Star
Zillion
Rastan
Sonic (much different from MD version)
I would have easily chose wonderboy 2 & 3 if not for superior versions on the TG16. The master system was my first console and I loved it to death. It had a lot of arcade conversions such as Outrun and R-Type which sadly are better played on other platforms now. Still these are my top picks. I could think of loads more I am sure.

Land of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse - excellent platformer that mixes action with adventure and light puzzle solving. Gfx and sound are top notch for the SMS.
Wonder Boy III: Dragon's Trap (much prefer this over the TG16 version)
Golvellius: Valley of Doom
Sonic 1
Kenseiden
Zillion
Power Strike 2
Fantasy Zone 2
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Phantasy Star
And for the GG:
Sylvan Tale (jap) - Best zelda clone ever.
Ristar (different game)
Shining force 3: final conflict
Sonic Triple Trouble
Power Strike 2 (different game from the SMS version)
Gunstar Heroes (impressive port with some new stuff in it)
Lunar: Strolling School (jap)
kishin douji zenki (jap)
Magical puzzle popils (jap)
Royal Stone (jap)
Yes, we missed out on most of the good stuff for GG.

The Turbografx version is the exact same game, with altered text, different graphics for the main characters, and improved framerate, backgrounds and music.
I'd say the only stuff worse than the SMS version would be that some characters lost a bit of charm with the graphic edits (what in the world happened to Piranha-man's eyes?), and the text feels a bit like totally 90's.

They put in some cheesy americanized storyline that ruined the atmosphere, and the music is worse, not better. It's like the mega man collection for Mega Drive, all the harmonies sound wrong and it lacks punch.

Okay...
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
Asterix
Bubble Bobble (the best console version)
California Games
Castle of Illusion
Fantasy Zone
Golden Axe Warrior
Impossible Mission (although I'd obviously prefer the C64 version)
Master of Darkness
Phantasy Star
Populous (excellent console adaptation)
Power Strike
Psycho Fox
Sonic 2
Star Wars
Spy vs Spy (although I think we're getting the slightly inferior NES version)
Ultima IV
Xenon 2
Zillion
More than ten, but what the hey. ;)

It's a bit silly I know, but one of my favorite Master System games was Ghostbusters. In my opinion the MS version improved considerably on the popular Commodore/Apple version by adding some nifty stuff after you get past the Marshmallow Man, and although I doubt it will make an appearance on the VC, I'd love to play it again!

In no particular order:
The Ninja
Black Belt
OutRun
Choplifter
Golden Axe Warrior
Phantasy Star
Psycho Fox
Miracle Warriors
Alien Syndrome
Kenseiden
We'll see which ones will actually be available. Hopefully not the 8-bit versions of already released and/or yet to be released Genesis titles, right?

Top notch Sega platform with many of the games that got the company started. Looking forward to it's inclusion on the VC.

The only ones I'm really looking forward to are Phantasy Star and Golden Axe Warrior. They're both pretty much guaranteed for eventual release, being part of established Sega franchises. It'd be nice to get the best console version of Bubble Bobble, too, but I don't think we're likely to see doubles of games going up on the VC any time soon.

The tg-16 version was actually better - the scrolling was a lot smoother and faster, the master system version had a choppy framerate for some reason.

Let's hope not. Still, it's a pity we're getting the NES version of Double Dragon instead of the Master System version.

I had all of these and they were brilliant. I hope we get them, but with he current release schedules, and me being in NZ, its not very likely :(
