An example of false democracy.

I vote for official rules, tehy should pick up the system they want to decide the ratings, but it has to be done.

First thing is HIGH and KILLER fines to shop who sell games to underage kids.

Parents should follow their kids growing, not hoping that TV, school or Internet do THEIR work.

The PEGI is a nice way of informing users on the content of the game, but it's just an indication, we need RULES!

I'm not happy at all. Rediculous, videogame Nazis get their way.

Enforced censorship is an encroachment into personal liberties, and the UK stands a head taller than most other civilised nations in terms of nannying state interference (CCTVs, the NHS, this). Nietzschean social evolution ftw!

It's looking doubtful it will be available in the US either - both Nintendo of America and Sony Computer Entertainment America have policies where games rated Adults Only are forbidden on their systems.

I still don't know anything, and I knew of this just from here.
But I'll tell you something.
Italy is the place of lies, of thieves and void words.
There probably will be a riot in the news on televisions, newspapers will rally for a week or two about how videogames are reincarnation of Hitler and things like this.
But....for sure. If there's not a common policy of Nintendo of Europe, you will find it in italy.

It's a matter of ipocrisy. People here are so dumb, they do anything they can to show they care, but they don't.
So, trust me, have a look in Italy and hope I'm right.

Not the kind of game I'd buy but it still makes my blood boil that people will use even the most tenuous of arguments to ban games. BAN GAMES? What gives anyone the right to decide what I'm exposed to for me? While I agree that changes can be made in exceptional circumstances only, banning games is an unforgiveable act of censorship.

Censorship is the first step in removing civil liberties, dressed up as being in our own interests. The Chinese have a proverb (also a curse) 'May you live in interesting times...', they don't get more interesting than they are at the moment with our freedom being stripped away piece by piece by those who tell us they're protecting said freedom. Just ask any clued up American about the way the Patriot Act is actually being used to deny US citizens their rights...outrageous.

Soap box down...moving on...calming down.

Well, videogames are a pretty new kind of media, only about 30 years and the graphics in games have just been able to show this kind of gore in maybe 10 years (3D graphic is more influent then 2D) so it's natural that it's starting to be like this. Look at the first 10 years of the TV or the VCR and you'll see the same thing, almost every kind of music have gone trough the same aswell. Manhunt is just rockmusic 40 years later ;)

If it continues like the other "intentions" then banning games will be gone or be done very rarely in maybe 10 years, the "Saw" movies that has already been used as an example is a good example on that.

More on this story btw

Manhunt 2 receives AO rating (http://au.gamespot.com/news/6172743.html)

"A Take-Two representative told GameSpot today that the ESRB has issued an initial rating of AO for Adults Only to Manhunt 2. While not an outright ban, the rating would severely limit a game's sales potential, as most major American retailers have chosen not to carry games rated AO."

"The content of Manhunt 2 and the unique physical interaction with the Wii control combine to take [the game's simulation] a level closer to reality--we can expect that the effects of this experience will be even greater."

and

Sony, Nintendo forbid AO-rated Manhunt 2 (http://au.gamespot.com/news/6172830.html)

"Console-makers confirm policies preventing licensed third parties from releasing Adults Only games on their systems, effectively banning the Rockstar title."

Wasn't interested at all in it myself.

But I loved "The Suffering". Never got to play the second one though.

Solution to this problem:

PC.

A PC "emulation" of the Wii build of the game would feature full motion controls and the obvious Mouse/keyboard controls too. Gamers would then just need a blu-tooh connector and the rest would be simple.
By doing this, Rockstar would bypass all licensing laws that Sony and Ninty have and the game could be distributed digitally via Steam, Fileplanet or Rockstar's site.

Hopefully, Rockstar give some consideration to this aspect and release this fine work of art in its TRUE form.

EDIT: Seems rather laughable that the AO games cannot be made.. yet in the nation where that rating exists one can obtain rifles and handguns O_o

Don't know if this has already been said (Didn't read the post). But I posted this on another and thought i'd copy it here. I posted it after hearing that Take 2 were gonna edit it.

Take 2 have now decided to go back and tone it down so that it'll get released. But they're really unhappy that the people who rated this game didn't know that it was intended for adults -_-

I mean as if the ESRB, OFCL, PEGI etc... went into the room and said "This is a bit to dark for a 5 year old like, not what I was expecting from a kids game at all ".

I've never really been interested in the game myself, but I have been following up on the ban and all because I was curious. It doesn't sound like that its ban was due to mere black and white issues like a lot of people think.
